I couldn't resist on the 7 1/4 fuel circular saw with 9.0 starter kit. It really is one of the best deals out there. $249 your choice of circular or Sawzall at home depot.

Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.

M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium Ion Brushless Cordless 7 1/4 in. Circular Saw with M18 18-Volt 9.0Ah Starter Kit

I never looked on the box as to where it came from... Now I am wishing I had.

I opened it, tossed it into my pile of boxes, and recycling day came and out it went.

Any deals out there for the mid torque impact and 9.0 battery?

Wish I would have waited on the 7 1/4 circular saw.. paid $180 for just the saw, would have gladly paid $249 to have a 9.0 battery added

They have some cordless Metal cutting circular saws. Are these well suited to cut wood as well?

Metal cutting saws cut a different speeds. Blades utilize different materials on the cutting edge also.

In the case of the Milwaukee saws, they both have the exact same RPMs.

The metal saw has a 20mm arbor, and the wood saw has a 10mm arbor. Finding 20mm 5-3/8 wood blades may be difficult or impossible, no clue if that's a standard size.

Wasn't clear enough...

Take one of the Metal Cutting saws and put a wood blade in it.

It can be done

But the Milwaukee 18v cordless 5 3/8" metal cutting saws have a 20mm arbor

So you would need to get a wood cutting blade with that size hole or you would have to use a reducing adapter. Most other 5 3/8" wood cutting blades are only 10mm (3/8")

The saws specifically designed for wood working also have the side bevel adjustment. But the cordless metal saw to the best of my knowledge
does not have that feature.

Obviously you can often make one tool work for different situations but each type is designed for a particular tasks. Guess it comes down to what do you need most from a cordless circular saw.

The new 2782 metal saw is 3900
The old 2682 was 3600
Both have right side blades

The M12 Fuel 5 3/8 is 3600 rpm an has a 10mm arbor and a left side blade

The Fuel 6 1/2 and 7 1/4 circular saws designed for general construction work have higher cutting speeds of 5,000 now. The older 2630 brushed 6 1/2" saw was only 3500 RPM and of course they all will make a deeper cut than a 5 3/8 saw.

Both 6 1/2" saws also have the left side blades
The 7 1/4 is on the right

They all have the 5/8 arbor

One of the reasons I aks this is because I have a corded Skil saw(wood).

I needed to cut up some 1/8' and 1/4" inch 316SS for a project. I got a metal Diablo blade and it chewed up that SS like it wasn't there! Luckily it didn't short the motor.

So I was wondering about if I replace my cordless gear with Milwaukee, should I just get the metal cutting cordless and be able to do both jobs with it?

Do the M18 trim or brad nailers ever go on sale for a decent price?

haven't seen them drop. Even though all my actually power tools are Milwaukee, I wouldn't buy a red nailer (as of yet). Watch youtube reviews, and you will see the Ryobi are much better praised in the reviews.

The Milwaukee often will lock the tool to overheating, did not sink all the nails in the test I saw, and has some recoil. The Ryobi never locked up, sank all the nails, and had very little recoil. Not to mention a ton cheaper. Until they come out with v2, this is one tool category I have to unfortunately skip from them.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that. The only problem with going Ryobi is that I don't have any Ryobi batteries.

I agree.. every review I've seen says V1 of the nailer isn't Milwaukee's finest tool ever produced. There are better options for less money

I do think they'll get it right in a later version though. Hopefully.

I was surprised to see how expensive even the bare tools were. Milwaukee seems pretty proud of their nailers if you look at the price, but the Ryobi nailers (better reviews or not), work just fine as well.

Even if you need to buy a battery or two (check out the 2 pack that HD has on sale once or twice a year), the Ryobi nailers seem to be the much better deal both price and performance wise.

Big difference with the nailers is the method employed to drive the nails.. not saying one is worth more than another to the user, but I'm pretty sure the Milwaukee's method is more complex, and driving the cost up..

Did not know that... At least there is a difference for that kind of coin!

There is also the abuse factor, that I too also neglected to mention. Milwaukee tools are for a jobsite, so they are going to take a beating. If you ever watch a tool take-apart video by Ave on youtube, he goes over what the casings are made of & how they are going to hold up to solvents or general abuse.

I guess you have watched different videos than I have as the Milwaukee handily beat the Ryobi nailers in them. The Milwaukee consistently drove nails fluch much better and weighed far less than the Ryobi.

The main negatives for the Milwaukee that I saw were weight of the gun (compared to a paslode gas nailer not a Ryobi though) and the lack of easy ability to see the tip of the gun and line up your nail placement (you had to look to the side a bit to see it).

I would say they are a bit pricey, but no question they are good guns. I plan on getting a 15ga myself.

The Milwaukee is super consistent...

Holy ****, a 2897 kit for $33? Please let us know how this one turns out!!

As I suspected it was to good to be true. I went in to check the order status and eBay had suspended the user and deleted the auction page, i couldnt even see it. Had to open a case and wait 5 days for the seller to respond, a formality since the seller could not respond with the suspended account. They refunded me yesterday.

Ohhh welll, worth a shot.

I doubt you will have any luck calling them as this is their number:
"Call us at +1415 123 4567"

I'm not holding out hope that mine will come. If I do not get a tracking number by Monday I will open a case with Paypal.

To my surprise my 2nd vacuum arrived today! I really thought it would be me vs PayPal on this.

Email... no reply & server bounce back. Phone number... bogus. 3/24 Opened PayPal dispute and sent message to seller... nothing. 3/27 item shipped without me even knowing. 3/28 Escalated dispute to claim with PayPal... still no response. 3/29 item arrived UPS from HD-Direct again, brand new. So I cancelled the PayPal claim and life goes on.

Scored a brand new in box 2897-22 for $284 from Tool King on ebay. Free shipping. Arrived in 3 days. May not be the kind of deal some of you deal gurus are posting but I have to say I'm happy with this one.

In six weeks I've scored 4 M18 kits/bare tools and 8 M18's.

Is there a cure for this affliction?
