I would still consider a gas trimmer if I had an ethanol-free gas station around me. The closest is not close, and there is too many problems with this "corn-gas" that I'd rather not deal with it. Though if I have to, I use StarTron, no need (less-likely) to replace parts then.

I end up using 1.5 or 2 gallons of pre-mix through the season, between my string trimmer and backpack blower. So lately Ive just been buying the gallons of TruFuel (or whatever brand I can find). Not the cheapest way to go, but it beats dealing with the effects of ethanol. I run my 4 stroke stuff out on the 4 stroke TruFuel as well, I just keep a quart of it hanging around because not much is needed to run them out.

And honestly, if the Stihl carb, fuel lines, etc last 10 years before replacement, I have no problem with that.

I use trufuel and VP sef for storage fuels a good bit with great luck. Tune will change a little between it and non ethanol 89-91 but usually a quick adjustment and good to go, atleast on the 2 strokes. A little Sunoco 110 mixed with 91 non ethanol and then pre-mix with amsoil saber is a pretty close match to VP sef. The Harley has a couple tunes on the Sunoco 110, so I have it around anyways

Hit up zoro on their next 25-30% off sale and buy the 5gallon pails of VP SEF. Free freight, no tax and ends up fairly reasonable for what it is. I usually just order 1-2 pails every year and then add in a few quart bottles here and there.

As for a battery dying on an M18, I have 8 9.0ah HD batteries now in my collection ontop of the XC's so if I use that many batteries in one day, I'll probably be laid up for a week.

I started using tru-fuel or things of the like. Pre mixed 2 cycle gas. You can find it on sale for about 5 bucks i think the cans are around 32 ounces or so for that price. Between my Hitachi blower and stihl trimmer, I use probably 3 cans throughout the season. Well worth it. No ethanol, doesn't break down, solves winter storage needs (stays good all winter and doesn't break down).... very excellent product. All my 2 cycles run off of it. I threw away my 1 gallon gas can that I kept for 2 cycle. I believe it's 92 octane with no ethanol or anything, straight gas. Good stuff.

I like ethanol gas (I live in Iowa and work for John deere) so my livelihood literally depends on it, but you're right there needs to be higher octane no ethanol options out there.

Another thing if you can't find the premises gas, use a premium gas and treat it with seafoam or stabil 360... I use both in my boat and have 0 issues. Stabilizes fuel and kills the ethanol very well.

I am having a heck of a time trying to get in on the Milwaukee string trimmer/hedge trimmer promotion! First, I didn't see that I had a PM from Jordan at the Green Bay powertool store. Now I have sent him 2 PM's and an email with no response. Secondly, there is a thread about a guy on Facebook selling the same thing a few dollars cheaper but not enough difference to matter to me. I despise Facebook so I sent an email to that guy too. Neither have gotten back to me. I don't understand people who make their living selling and yet won't follow up for a sure sell.

I was skeptical about the facebook deal as well. You don't need facebook, simply paypal the money with a note with address and what you are ordering. I got no communication back until a tracking # one day and the items at my house the next.

If you look at his FB page he is incredibly busy, so not much communication but incredibly quick shipping.

Kxlexus. I talked to Jordan on Thusday. I would call the store number and talk to him. I do not think GJ is his priorty. He said they were sold out of the trimmers, but would give the deal when they came in. Sounded like the real deal.

Well, I just sent the money to the guy from Facebook. I don't feel too good about doing business like this but I gave Jordan from Green Bay many opportunities for a sale and never heard back.

I bought the lawn equipment last week, and then made 2 more transactions yesterday for some m12 equipment. yes he isn' a typical internet resaler, but he also doesn't have typical pricing

I still think the yard tools with 9.0 kit current prices are the special intro pricing. Maybe something like free glove like the pre-order special or line, but nothing major like a battery. Its like the Miter Saw with 1 9.0 priced at 599, that isnt gonna last forever, the free 2nd 9.0 is crazy good at 599. Trimmer bare tool is 199, 9.0 + rapid is 249, so 299 for that is a deal already, getting 10-20% off that price is the best someone will get. Well see if HD has anything special when they get them in stock, but unlikely. Heard they were gonna do demo days at some stores come spring.

Acme now has the deal order the trimmer kit and get the blower or hedge for free.

Inconceivable! ;)

As does Home Depot. Though they will ding EVERYONE for tax I believe. :)

They even have a weird deal. You get a Fuel hammer drill, Fuel impact, 5.0 and 2.0, and then a free hedge trimmer? I wish they had a deal for the trimmer kit + blower + hedge trimmer.

Got a link? This would be perfect for me.

Thanks. It wasn't popping up for me for some reason.

I have noticed they will list things differently. if you search 'm12 6.0 ah battery', you get different results than searching 'm12 6ah battery'. One of those results in a ton of deals, the other not so much. There search system is not that sophisticated in my opinion. Often some of the great deals are hidden because of the titling of the item.

that combo and blower deal is pretty nice, they also have the same for the hedge trimmer. Though its funny if you read the first paragraph in the description. Seems it was put together pretty quickly.

Tempting deal. Could sell off the impact 2.0 battery and charger and do pretty well. Mainly since I have the impact and a few 2.0 and 4.0 batteries. Don't really NEED the blower, but it'd be nice for small cleanups. And could sell the compact M18 blower I have now. Hmmm....

so, CPO is having several sales right now, of varying duration:

free bag, and either 2 5AH or a 9AH Starter set, with purchase of two select bare M18 tools:

https://www.cpomilwaukee.com/mil-gwp-choice-batt/mil-gwp-choice-batt,default,sc.html

recon tools: 25$ off 150$+, 50$ off 300$+, use code SAVERECON

http://www.cpomilwaukee.com/milwauk...kee-reconditioned-power-tools,default,sc.html

and, for only 48 hours, 20% off select M18 and M18Fuel:

http://www.cpomilwaukee.com/mil-rsa-m18fuel/mil-rsa-m18fuel,default,sc.html

if they had a mid-torque, i'd buy two for their regular price of 189$, and get the 2 5AH batteries, and give one tool and the batteries to my son.

but they dont, so i can't.

I ordered the 2520 M12 Fuel Hackzall from Toolup w free 6.0 battery. I've been wanting to replace my brushed version and everyone says the Fuel is much better - I'll see!

I would have ordered from Acme but I also wanted the 2355-20kn flashlight & knife combo and Acme didn't appear to have it. At $99 for an awesome flashlight and nice knife it takes some of the sting out of the normal $99 retail for just the flashlight alone.

It says that battery is an "instant rebate" on the checkout form? Is that something you have to send off for and it takes weeks/months to get? Or they ship out immediately? I have never ordered from them. thanks.

Nope after you go to checkout it'll show the battery as an additional $0 item.

They send it out. "Instant rebate" is semantics

Zoro uses the same terminology IIRC when you enter promo codes

I honestly was unimpressed with the light. It is a decent light don't get me wrong, but if one to rate it lumens per oz, it is horrible. I have a Coast light that takes 3 AAA (maybe AA) or a USB rechargable L-Ion battery pack, and is almost just as bright. I know it won't be used the same way, but I also felt it had a different color temperature compared to their other lighting solutions (I own the m12 flood, lantern, spotlight, m18 stand light, & have used other models too).

It is solid, great light throw, and makes a great back-up billy club, but the weight is the biggest drawback. I'd rather use my M12 spotlight. No opinion on the knife, as I could never see myself paying that much for a knife, just don't have the need yet. My Gerber has kept serving me too well I guess.

m12 hackzall kit... 109 shipped when added to cart (these are the guys i got my fuel kit from, they have some good deals i'd recommend searching their ebay store)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-V-Hackza...2420-21-New-/222095026769?hash=item33b5e52a51

That is usually under $100 at HomeDepot in store when in stock. I also wouldn't even recommend it, if you have the ability to bump up to the Fuel model. Don't get me wrong, the non-fuel model is great for filing finger nails, but the Fuel could cut your toe off if need be.

Currently pay +$30, and get a 6ah battery & a REAL saw:

$140 - M12 Fuel Hackzall w/ free 6ah battery

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Milwaukee-M...907253?hash=item46627a84b5:g:ltcAAOSwrhBZBNhd

I have found the Fuel model for $60 shipped on multiple occasions. I know a guy from Wisconson was posting in my local Craigslist (Mich), but was selling them for $55 + $7 shipping (M12 fuel hammer drill). I can't find the posting now, but seemed to always have them

I'd wait if you can

That is a pretty damn good deal. It'd be nice to have a one handed sawzall. But probably 90% of the time I'd need I'd just get the fuel portaband out. And the 4.0 battery I haven't had an issue with run time on, plus all the extra 2.0 batteries I got from the winter promo.

I think the flashlight is fantastic, but I am not a flashlight techie. I've never even heard the standard of lumens per oz. Sure, it makes sense but doesn't concern me - I just keep one at the front door and one in each vehicle.

The ability to go from pinpoint spot to wide flood is great, and a marked advantage over the spotlight.

But mostly the light has something no other light has: the ability to use rechargeable batteries of which I already own dozens w no need to buy "letter" batteries or get into Eneloops etc

I agree I'd never pay $70 for a knife which is why I've only ordered them w the 2355-20kn kit for $99 total.
