I got the flashlight/knife kit for Christmas and I love both of them. I use the knife every day (not sure I'd pay full price for one) the flashlight has some weight but you know it isn't going to break.

I'd buy the kit again in a second!

I also like both and bought 2 of the kits months ago.

I EDC the knife and as someone who used to just carry utility knives (compact Fastback) I find myself really appreciating a structural blade that can pry things. I swear I use it to pry as much or more than cutting.

That said, I'm also not a knife techie. I just know I like it, it looks cool and I appreciate the smooth flip action. BUT many knives have these attributes at a lower price point which, again, is why I've only purchased the light/knife combo kits. And being a Milwaukee junkie there's some cache (to me only as NO ONE else cares) having a Milwaukee knife LOL

I like the Milwaukee knives, I have two FastBack 2s and the black one whatever that's called. But I have to say I carry the Gerber EAB Lite now instead of a "pocket knife" per suggestions here on GJ, and I use it for EVERYTHING. It's like having a pocket knife and utility knife always handy in compact form. I just cut a bunch of vinyl plank flooring with it even and replaced the blade after. My other knives stay in the toolbox now.

I use it everyday for something. I had to cut up sandpaper yesterday, figured it'd kill the blade so I'd never do it on a regular knife. Nope - blade is fine. Split a bunch of 14/3 NMB and cut vapor barrier, opened several packages, etc today. I love it!

I looked it up on Amazon, and immediately put it on my want list. What blades are you using with it?, as I believe that would change ones experience with it.

I just don't use a knife enough, getting there, to justify a higher end unit. Maybe if the flashlight was a bit lighter, I would consider the combo.

Don't like it,

Too Smooth
Too short a handle
need a tool to change the blade

Very shiny though...

Not a good knife and not a good utility knife in my opinion.

Those are two separate categories that don't mix well IMO.

just my two cents...

No Charge for you though!

:D

Now Rural King is offering the $299 deal on Milwaukee outdoor power equipment.
Wish I would have waited a couple days and bought local. If so, I would have it now. I haven't heard a word from the Facebook guy but it's only been a few days and part of that was weekend

That's odd, I haven't heard anything. Of course the money went out of my PayPal account immediately

I actually got an update through PayPal when he marked it as shipped, which included my tracking number. So, be on the lookout for an email from PayPal with a subject like "More details on your shipment", which sounds totally spammy but is actually legit.

Nope after you go to checkout it'll show the battery as an additional $0 item.

They send it out. "Instant rebate" is semantics

Zoro uses the same terminology IIRC when you enter promo codes

Thanks IGN...ordered one today. I like the fact you can get the bigger battery and not have to pay for another charger I don't need. Good buy!

The only thing I don't like about it is that you need a flathead to change the blade. Other than that, it's perfect for me. I was really surprised I was fine using it to cut vinyl plank flooring, and it was big enough to do fine at it. I have giant hands, too.

To each their own. I learned about it from others here who also liked it. Definitely not the end-all of knives, but for carrying for what I do has been the best of anything I've ever had.

I used the blade that came with it until I killed it cutting the vinyl plank flooring.

I have a ton of cheap utility blades, so normally I'd just swap it out for what's handy. In this case, I was at Menards and saw they have Made in USA blades. I gave the DLC-coated "50 times longer" blades a shot, but I haven't done anything substantial with the knife since I swapped it.

I am pretty positive they're made by IDL TechniEdge in New Jersey.

Also, I think IDL TechniEdge makes the Milwaukee "safety cutter", FWIW. I can't see GJers needing it for anything... seems to be a "cover your ***" product for businesses. Pretty soon there will be a license to carry a box cutter just like a forklift license :p

Just got my stuff from FB guy....everything is there and new. Again, not sure how he does it but ignorance is bliss, I guess.

I'm going going to jump on the trimmer + hedge clipper kit from Home Depot. I'm Canadian, so I'll have to order it into the store, then head over and pick it up.

Has anyone had any luck calling their local stores and getting them to hang onto an order for longer than what I understand to be their default 7-day limit?

Last time I asked them about holding an order they told me they hold it for a lot longer than 7 days!

Id call ahead just to be sure but I doubt they will have much issue holding onto it.

OK, thanks for the info. I just don't want to miss out on that sale, it's a killer deal compared to anything I could get up in the great white north!

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this questions but I didn't think it needed it's own thread. I got a 1/4" hex fuel impact (2897-22) in the 2-tool kit (2897-22) and it has a lot more run-out then I would expect. What it the normal amount of run out?

So that turns into the 2899 kit, lol.
Pretty good deal. Sperately on Ebay or somewhere, all that is around $450.
$150 + $110 + $130 batts + charger & case.
Disregarding the Home Depot deals, which can get you to pay out more though.

I just picked up the trimmer and edger deal at my local Home Depot. Walked in and they had a bunch of them sitting on display (they also had the blower).

Wait, that deal is in store now?

Friend of mine picked it up in-store on day 1 of the promo (he had a store credit to use and wanted to try it there first)

There was no signage or anything, but when the trimmer and blower rang up, it credited the price of the blower across both items (it splits the blower price as a percentage of each item across the receipt)

"has the deal." deal has been around for a few weeks now, nothing new. Now it's more picking the vendor you don't pay tax or shipping to.

what was the price before today? That saw + 2 9.0 batteries is starting to look attractive!

Side note, i received my yard trimmer from the facebook group guy but still awaiting the blower. Weed eater is pretty awesome for being battery powered!
And the 9.0 battery took 70 minutes to fully charge from 1 bar.

$599
