I still have 14 large hardware drawers to go through AND finish sorting through the Craftsman top/bottom combo. Back to work!

Karl, look for signs that was bent by the owner, not the factory, 'cause it probably was..

Outlaw,

I see no signs of heat being put to the wrench and the bends look so close in radius to the normal offset bends. But you are probably still right, I doubt the factory would put a bend where the size stampings are located.

This weeks tool finds: all 1/4"; 2 Snap On boxes, red one marked KRA 255, incomplete with just 3 misc. sockets.

The green SO set is pretty complete, although there's no model # on this one. Some Williams and 2 Craftsman sockets mixed in with the aSO. Also odd Williams NM 110 nut driver(?).

Next, a well worn SK box with Husky CM 43 with mix of Plomb, New Britain, and SK sockets.

Last but not least two small metal boxes with piano hinged tops and side latch. One had what appear to be motorcycle points and other tools. Second one was empty. Posted separately to ask for help on info re: these two. Never seen any before on this site, eBay, etc.

Should I clean them up or maintain the patina? Any info or education from members on these sets/ boxes is appreciated.

Green SO set

The SK box set

It looks to me as if your 1/4” sets are a bit of a mixed bag. The Snap-on set looks to have a cool Williams metal spinner along with what is likely an unmarked S-K flex handle and crossbar. I would date the set as postwar but the sliding Tee handle may be from 1944.
The S-K set is an early box with a Husky ratchet. It’s difficult to see the sockets without a side view. Here are pictures of my wartime Snap-on and S-K 1/4” drive sets.

And the search begins! I picked up these 14 hardware drawers for $1 each with contents! The Belknapp Blue Grass roofing hatchet was $6 for an even $20 at the first sale I went to on Saturday.

I figured you would chime in Oultawmws with your "obsession" with drawers LOL. Nothing outstanding so far as I sort though them although I did find something JEFF MOSS would like! I'm about 2/3rd's done sorting out the drawers.

Spent today with my dad, checking on some things. Took some time off the road to check out an antiques shop, an archetectural salvage store, and a used items store. Interesting box of sprinkler heads, and I assume the wrench for installing them. And a beautiful Reed 404-1/2R. Guy wanted $245 for it. I guess that’s about right, but I do not have the need or funds for that purchase. Just cool to see it. Only questionable I saw was the shiny weld behind the static pivoting jaw. Maybe just to fill a saw or filing mark?

A CL find this evening...I've been wanting one of these little trim saws just for breaking sheet goods down quickly. All the tools work very well. I've already got a Milwaukee Sawzall but I'm sure they'll be times having a cordless reciprocating saw will be mighty handy.

I figured the 5 3.0ah batteries were likely throwaways but that would be okay as I have a few extra with my own Makita cordless tools. It seems they actually have more life in them than my 3-year old batteries! A very nice surprise.

The guy lived nearby and recently picked up some new Makita toys with what he called the 5.0ah "star" batteries. Apparently, they don't play well with the old batteries and he heard the old ones can damage the new ones. To ensure no accidents with a mix up occurred he put his old tools and batteries on CL. Set me back $35.

Nothing earth shattering in the 14 hardware drawers I sorted through. JEFF MOSS will probably like this OMELCO padlock, there are a few other Masterlock padlocks but haven't gone through the keys yet. The Billings T handle driver is for 3/8" square nuts or drain plugs. Bunch of rusty bolts went straight in the scrap bucket. The drawer handles are from the 1970's from what I can tell.

Where are you finding these things? I’ve been to the Galt and Stockton fleas. Maybe I should revisit them. Did anything come in the Plomb box? Here is my complete set in a similar box.

Hi Don. I went to buy a toolbox and the guy had a bunch of stuff laying around so I relieved him of that excess for a minor added payment. I do what I can for my fellow man. It was filled with a random assortment of stuff. Only 3-4 were Plomb. I never bother with Galt and Stockton fleas.

I picked up a bunch of stuff from my landlord. He has a large collection of tools and needs to clear out some space for a new tenant. The tough part is he asked me to name my price and said he would accept my offers. I didn’t want to rip him off or overpay. So I ended up offering him a bit more than what I paid for similar item in the past.

$20 Wilton bullet vise. He actually named the price on it once he realized it was broken. Missing front collar and screws and end cap. Plus the major damage is that the lip of the spindle is snapped off. Plus the dynamic jaw is frozen in place. I’m guessing it was rusted and broke when he tried to force it open. It’s soaking in some kroil then I’ll try to get it apart. Not sure if it makes sense to fix or to part out.

Royersford arbor press. Handle is jammed but I’ll work it loose.

9000v 30ma neon xformer (my son wanted it for a woodworking project)

Baldor 8” 3/4hp with lit eyeshield. Works but can use some cleanup.

Anvil. This is heavy. Over 100 for sure. Star symbol in side and W on base. I’d do some digging to figure out brand.

1/4hp craftsman grinder. I’ll repaint and make a new label then it’s a gift for my sister.

Paid $200 for everything.

I'm still working on the Craftsman top and bottom boxes I picked up at the closed outboard engine repair shop Saturday but here's something else I picked up there, Interstate marine battery display shelf, I love the eagle and USA flag graphics!

Got a used DW235G, 1/2" 850rpm drill. Think it will be good for drilling metal, hogging things out with a holesaw, etc. Things cordless doesn't really excel at.

not my photo but they look like this. The "made in" bit is worn off mine, but it looks like its US made now, and either was made in mexico as well (or is made in mexico for mexican market, im not so sure).

*Finally* after I don't know how many months I was able to hit a sale! I saw this estate sale come up earlier in the week, and I got there about 45min before it opened just to be safe that I wouldn't miss out if they opened early and I was still 4th in line.

First thing I went looking at was the wrenches, and as I scooped up the set and put in my bag, I turned to grab the three CMan ratchets right next to them but another guy grabbed the before I could! I wasn't too upset, he was the 1st guy in line, plus I'm pretty sure I already had 2 sets of that particular model. lol. After things died down a little I got to talking to the guy some more, he was pretty cool and liked to collect the old CMan stuff too.

I got a 14pc CMan Metric -V- wrench set, it's missing a few but they are in really nice shape. Probably paid a little too much for them, but they were my initial reason for going.

After missing out on the ratchets, I did a quick skim over the tables and saw A Snap-On box that said, "29 Piece Cobalt Drill Bit Set"... Hmm... Quickly opened it up and all the bits were there, most unused, a few looked like they drilled into sheetrock... For $12 they went in my bag!

Grabbed various other Craftman hand tools, including the big 3/8" flat blade screwdriver, the LONG one they don't make anymore, 41588 I think it was. The large tongue & groove pliers are Craftsman. The oil filter wrench is KD USA. The small bent needle-nose pliers are xcelite and the long green needle nose are Diamond I think?

I couldn't pass up a USA air hose for $3. What was even better was the massive extension cord pile next to it that was $5... They had a Honda EU3000 Inverter for sale there, why they didn't bundle the extension cord with it I do not know (One of the plugs is the 125V twistlock that fits the gen). Anyhow, there were 2 cords, one was like 75' and the other 45'... I'm pretty sure it is 12 gauge it is so thick, but the cord isn't really labeled like a standard one. The longer one had the 125V twistlock, and a regular female on the other end. The other cord was regular plugs on both ends. All were "Hospital Grade" Hubbles. Also there was a 3-way pigtail and a little 3-way on the ends of the plugs.

Not sure of the brand of creeper, but it rolls good even with my fat **** on it. I think the roll of rubber mat was cut from something bigger, I've seen that same style used in the beds of trucks, for $2 I figured I could do something with it.

Last item was a Hampton Bay floor fan, rated at 265W, which is 100W more than my existing floor fan. I like it because low is quieter than my other one, and high moves more air!

There was a nice old milwaukee 1/2" corded drill, amazingly not abused. I seriously thought about it, but realized I had my corded ridgid that I literally never use, and have two HD cordless drills so I really didn't need it. Thankfully the guy that grabbed the ratchets also eventually grabbed the drill... lol.

All in all not my best or biggest haul, but got some good deals. I could have really used those little bent needle-nose pliers the other week!

Get something solid on the shelves and that battery stand would make a great bookcase for auto manuals!

I don't even know where I would put it but for 5 bucks I couldn't pass it up! I am planning on finding a new home for it with a little profit for me LOL.

And here's the Craftsman from the same top/bottom roller. The big chisel and the 1/4 drive flex sockets are my favorites.

Welcome back Lugz!

A couple of early birds for this weekends. main event. I have hopes for tomorrow, and Sunday is always iffy these days for this event. All this stuff came from two houses about 4 houses apart.

A mostly complete set of Craftsman metrics, from 8-14MM Missing the 15, 16 and 17 needed for my daughter's bike., Craftsman 1/4 & 3/8 extensions. the other 3/8 are Thorsen extension deep socket and swivel socket. an NOS air chuck, and a key chain with the clip. eight bucks all

attachment.php

Ten bucks at the next stop for a Stanley light ax head, (apparently used mostly for hammering...) another broken roofing hatchet, (probably a project for my son) its a Vaughn & Bushner? - never hear of the latter! and a 1 or 2 ox BP that I thought was a Stiletto, but after wheeling the rust of while it has an arrow, it also has "DL" (possibly DF...)and "trade Mark" :headscrat Also the Mortising piece I've been missing and its a Long C craftsman!

attachment.php

And lastly a Henry Disston and Sons Meat saw.

attachment.php

All other stops were TOO's and I got nothing there.
