Forgot I got these over the weekend until I heard them rattling around in the back of my car. I think they are for a CM bench grinder but not sure. They look like they were never used and got them for $5.

Outlaw congrats on the Anvil, what a great score.

Here is another find from the weekend, a lighted Tasco parts cabinet. It has the glass insert and is lighted and still has a bunch of NOS parts. This is my favorite find in a long time and had no problem paying the asking $100 price. Not too much info on Tasco but think it might be from the 1940's.

Not sure any of these are the same TASCO (an unfortunately common company name), but...

I found an ignition-related part for some early Ford from TASCO "The Automotive Specialty Corp." of Brooklyn, New York here: https://ingeniumcanada.org/ingenium/collection-research/collection-item.php?id=1999.0150.001

And a 1918 brochure from TASCO "The Automobile Supply Co." of 1335 Michigan Ave, Chicago, Illinois here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-1918-TASCO-AUTOMOBILE-SUPPLY-Co-96-page-car-catelog/292419012598

And a May 1921 magazine ("The Accessory & Garage Journal"! :bounce:) mentions the formation of "The Automotive Supply Co." of Springfield, Ohio here: https://books.google.com/books?id=vzw6AQAAMAAJ&pg=RA3-PA55

Since I'm always coming up with tools and stuff I decided to post up my finds this year.

So here is my latest score. I don't know how old these tools are but they all say ford except for one that says fordson

Likely it started out life as a tractor tool box Don. Possible the original owner used it for misc repair work. I have a Fordson tractor tool box just like that one minus all the wrenches. It's a nice old piece and will look good in your collection.

Slow weekend for sales due to weather.

Proto and Craftsman 1/2 dr torque wrenches. (Proto in the box and Craftsman in the resale bin).

Craftsman pipe cutter (resale bin).

Solid aluminum Stanley machinists level

Irwin & Proto drivers

Blackhawk & Thorsen DBE's

Dunlap pliers

Cornwell impact 1/2 dr to 3/4 dr adapter

Nice finds, Tin! It's easy to tell that Sears was sourcing their Dunlap pliers from Vlchek. Here are your new pair and a Vlchek catalog page.

I finally had a few minutes to clean and reconfigure the Craftsman sander I got in the Plomb/S-K estate sale.

It looks as if many of you have a pretty good head start. I'd better take advantage of my week off next week and try to find some deals instead off ice fishing every day.

Swing: Seriously, that's an amazing find. The calligraphy and the artwork are gorgeous. Have you dated it? Late 1800's? Early 1900's? Here's another one for you: have you really upped your game lately? Or have I been seriously underestimating your game before now? Between this and the WWI buzzer, I'm starting to think I don't have a good handle on your stash, which is looking more and more like a museum all the time. Maybe it's the avatar that's deceiving me. :)

That's the way I like it!
Unsuspected and undetected! Lol

I have recently started being able to aim a little higher since I got rid of a few money pits lol. At the least, it has allowed me to devote more time to exploring and seeing what I can find. So it's "safe" to say I am trying to up my game a little. Though many here have far better collections than I.

It was manufactured sometime between 1883-1890 and the walls are an honest 6+" thick. Later in the companies history they began using WWII as a marketing tool since the Mitsui Bank in Hiroshima used Mosler safes and they survived the devastation that little boy caused. I was drawn to it since I rarely get to see one of these safes that have the original mech. and haven't been drilled! Which to my limited understanding is fairly common with safes.

Since you enjoy history, PM me sometime and I'll shoot ya a photo of the Smith & Wesson Model No.2 Army I have. It marks my first serious piece of civil war history.

You might check with Outlaw about that. That anvil he scored very well may be older. Here is a little info I found on them but you would confirm it's accurate:

If it does not say Solid Wrought on it either in a straight line or in a circle you got a really old one (pre 1850). If it said solid wrought in a straight line it would be 1850-1860 after that it was in a circle. After 1915 they started marking "England" under the word Patent on them...

I actually wrote down 1916 in my little green book, so I'm glad you posted this info. His best photo of the markings is here. I don't see "England" marked on it. I do see the SOLID WROUGHT in a circle. Based on your info, his anvil could've been made anytime between 1861 and 1915. Your safe, between 1883-1890. If I go with earliest possible date, the anvil has the safe beat. If I go with range, since exact date in both cases is uncertain, it's a tie and I may need to buy another prize. This job *****!

Or with midpoints of those ranges, it looks even more tied! 1888 for the anvil, 1886.5 for the safe.

Edit: And if the anvil's range ends at 1910 instead of 1915, it's even closer: 1885.5 for the anvil, 1886.5 for the safe.

For sure it was made 1910 or earlier according to the book since that when they added "England" Not sure if I can narrow it much more since its under 100lbs. But I will keep reading when I get back from town..

This is for you guys with the extremely sucky finds! Outlaw, etc. ;)

Stepping a bit out of the garage realm, I picked up a Kirby Vacuum with all attachments and one new bag for $15 at the flea market. A little worn but works great!

The two co-vendors negotiated themselves down. As they talked it over, one said $20, the other said to him he was going to tell me $30. After I looked it over thoroughly the first guy tells me $15. Went and plugged it in and it tested fine.

The pile of misc. hardware and tidbits was free from another vendor. I bought a few tools and all that was in his throw away bucket. He told me to take the whole bucket.

Some Sears carriage bolts, Craftsman concrete bit, padlock with key, new x-acto blades, etc.

Pics of tools tomorrow. Ran out of light today.

I found this unique old "Porta-Gasoline-Can" made by Edward Can Company on CL and picked it up after work today, $8. They made various types but this was a rectangular can but turned on its side with one of the long sides becoming the top for pour spout, vent cap and handle. Pretty good color and graphics yet. This side is better than the other. Original small vent cap with white paint still visible.
This goes up on the shelf with my can collection.

You "****"

And I can confidently say that since I know what the warden spent on hers new!
Let's just say you spent less than 2% of what she did.🤢

@rmalkow2: did I hear " can collection"???

We should start a gas and oil signage/can page somewhere on here!

Yeah they aren’t cheap. I know I got a pretty nice deal. Thanks to a couple storage unit guys wheeling and dealing at the end of the day.

True story- my mother won a brand new one when I was a kid. Thanks to me urging her to enter the drawing at the county fair.

Oddly they called the house on her birthday in the middle of the party to say she won. Thinking it was a sales call, the phone almost got hung up.

She still credits me, saying the reason she won was the Kirby people heard me (young kid) saying she needs a new vacuum.

The real joke to this day is she always hated cleaning.

I’ve made a couple repairs to it over the years, aside from belt and bag maintenance, but the thing is like a tank. I consider them the best.
