Yes JD it's a unicycle. My kids are little adventurers and willing to try cool toys like that along with pogo-sticks, stilts and now trying the uniycle. The other in the picture is a Balla-rolla I think it's used for circus reformers to juggle while standing on it. My kids are still just getting that having of it with a 2" PVC under it. Once they have their balance down, I'll upgrade them to a 4".

In other news I was able to get some literature about my new to me coleman. Apparently it's a first six months of production model. Pretty neat....

Apparently! I don't remember seeing a photo of the blue Corsa before. I love that cherry convertible more and more every time I see it. It would be an awesome ride for summer nights here on Ocean Avenue!

Sunday was opening day at the flea and I took home a large Diamalloy groove joint pliers tool, Dunlap hand ax, Plumb hatchet and beefy rawhide mallet for $8.

A trip to take some cans to the local recycling yard netted me 8 industrial swivel casters and a '51 dated U.S. fuel can made by RADIO STEEL.

It is located on the upper front corner of the driver's door panel. It is a toggle switch with a round bezel. The bezel is marked "TOP." The remote mirror control (if installed) is nearby, and quite similar.

LOL never thought to look there. Found it and yes I have the remote mirror too. Hopefully the dead mice in the driver's door hinge pillar died before they chewed up the wiring!

VERY happy to get that 1950s(?) armorer's tool chest, but it'll take some careful effort to remove the blue paint. Looks like the PO used it for storing remote control and/or model car parts.

I have a Craigslist "casual" search I use when I'm procrastinating on something I should be doing and not really looking for anything in particular. I plug my town name into the Tools list and see what's nearby. Then, if I'm still trying to waste time, I move onto the surrounding towns. Most of the time I don't find anything worth going after, but Thursday I found this Craftsman 6-1/8" jointer on the double pedestal factory legs:




The date on the 3/4hp Crafty motor is 7 58, so its nearly 60 years old. The infeed table has a deep scratch that the owner thought might be a crack, but we satisfied ourselves it was only cosmetic. It is missing the blade guard--he thought he had one, but it was not quite big enough (if anyone has a bead on one, I'm interested). The cord is also worn & taped in one spot, so it could use a new one.

The seller had it advertised for $100, but after a long session of talking about garages, tools, picking, estate sales, unique finds, cast iron widgets, movie house chairs and many, many other things, he let it go to me for $80. The guy was like many of us: can't let a good deal pass him by, but also hates to sell a find in case he'll need it some day. As he was putting my money into his pocket, he said "Oh man, I'm already having seller's remorse." I told him to look around his overcrowded shop and see the bright side: he now has six square feet back! As for me, I need to take the same lesson and move along my 4" jointer, now that I have this one.

Finally dragged my sorry **** out to a sale today. The sale started at 10a, with numbers at 9a. I left the house at 10:40 for a 10min drive. I expected the other vultures to swoop in and clear the place out before I got there, but no such luck. I think the late start had the others going elsewhere this morning.

I told myself that I was only going to buy things that I needed (yes, apperantly I do lie to myself), but once I saw that the workbench was mostly untouched, I dumped a bucket of trash in a box and started filling the bucket. I WAS being picky though, and left a lot behind.

I would have grabbed more, but I had to keep an eye on the clock so I wouldn’t be late to pick my nephew up at preschool. (I made it just in time) Maybe I’ll stop back tomorrow to pick through the dregs to see if I missed any sockets in my rush.

I bought a Hollands bench vise today for $30. It was in great condition, but I dismantled it, soaked it in the parts washer (with aggetation), lubed it up and reassembled it. Works great, very little wear on the lead screw and slides. The only damage is a few dings in the sliding ram where someone used it as an anvil, but it is really minimal.

I played hooky for a little while this morning to hit a sale and below is my finds.
A pair of Felco cable cutters. Spose to cut up to 5/8 steel cable.

A pair of CM offset slip joint pliers, pretty nice.

A Utica 8” adjustable, something about these that I just really like, a older CM adjustable, I think it had a circle K on the back, a I can never pass up a Vise Grip Dewitt, a CM magnetic bit driver with original bits and a holder for single edge razor blades, another tool to cut myself with.


A little misc pile, some shackles, ( I dropped one on way to truck), chain hooks, another Dewitt vise grip, a wrench for recessed square head plugs, CM wide chisel and a c clamp.

I took a long lunch to hit up a garage sale that was poorly advertised on CraigsList with no pictures, but had some interesting key words in the description. I ended up spending $150 but got a nice pile of loot.

Also spotted a 1943 military foot locker in original od green for $20, but didn’t buy, because of multiple checks and chips on the outside and a vertical break in the front of the removeable tray. I suppose they could be repaired, but I don’t think invisibly. Also, I don’t really collect that sort of thing.

You **** on the benchtop mill and post vise, down here in the Southwest something like that would would have gone for over $200 each easy.

Had a little time to go to a few estates and found this Equipto cabinet and a Craftsman C clamp (not pictured). Came full of homeowner parts like nails, screws, hinges AND a lifetime supply of Popsickle sticks. Could not pass it up for 10 bucks. Now I have find a place for it.

I grabbed it without looking, except to see the Proto ratchet. I was hoping I'd see Lisle sockets when I got home, but it was not to be.

Went back today to do a search and destroy, but no luck.
