I know some folks find the "You ****" phrase offensive, but I kinda like that we keep this thread otherwise decent WRT language.

BTW, all those tools, especially, the Mac wrenches, certainly warrant a declaration of subnormal atmospheric pressure.

A complete, unused Keuter 1/4" socket set, with extra SK extension and universal.

Ooh I love Kraeuter! I have a 3/8 metric set and a 3/8 SAE set that also has 3 Kraeuter red handle screwdrivers. I like Kraeuter because it is similar to my last name. Looking for any trades?

I could be interested, how about that little mill?

Just kidding. Let me take a look at what you have picked lately and I will give you a shout.

CG, you can often find s bulb that will interchange, and the light is instantly 12V. Possibly even an LED option...

These lights are pretty old, so finding something to fit like these do in the bezel might be a trick. The manufacturer is still in business and make identical looking lights in 12v.

But the history these have can’t be replaced.

This past Saturday I caught a sale in a one-man machine/welding shopp in Northeast Portland. The place appears to have been closed for at least a few years and a number of otherwise nice machines and materials had heavy water damage from roof leaks. In spite of that, I bought an extremely nice SK 3/8 universal socket set in steel case, a drill press vice, a seemingly unused ARO right angle die grinder (USA), Armstrong drill drift, A General letter drill gage and an antique brass protractor with hand-stamped numbers. Back on Sunday for half-price items. Perishable tooling was packaged in freezer bags and I bought a bag of new tungsten drill bits--Irwin/Hansen made in USA with 1989 copyright printed on each package.

Cost on Saturday: $42.00, Sunday half price: $13.00.

Nice Kraeuter set! Interesting the box is black, is it a hammertone black paint like other SK metal boxes? I'm used to seeing Kraeuter in those light blue/aqua colored boxes.

As for me...I got this a while back but kept forgetting to post it up. Rockwell model 348 type 7 single speed 3 amp bayonet saw. Made in the USA out of about 6 lbs of steel and aluminum. Came with 15 jigsaw blades, 4 sawzall blades (including a NOS Rockwell blade, don't see those every day), Allen wrench, and slightly dinged metal carry box. Strong runner but in dire need of cleaning, vents almost clogged).

Total price: free!, I was driving to work on garbage day and thought I spotted an ammo can sitting on a heap of stuff by the curb. Turns out it was this. I actually needed one so it works out.

Great find... Interesting-looking table you have it sitting on, by the way. :)

I hit two estate sales late this morning. The first one I got a Tupperware bowl and filled it with tools I wanted and paid $10 for that.

In the pic, the SO pliers ($1), Craftsman hammer ($2), JB Weld ($1), Enco Handy Oil ($2) was from the second estate sale. Everything else in the pic was from that first estate sale.

I also picked up another almost pristine B&D Workmate 79-001. They were asking $40 I offered $20 and it came home with me. Second one I've picked up this week. The beat up paint covered workmate (same model) picked up a couple months ago will get listed on CL as will the other workmate I picked up earlier this week. Nice start to the upcoming weekend. Although being retired every day is part of the weekend! :)

I posted asking about the Indestro Select sockets on the Vintage Tools forum here.

Did the same for the other socket set with the hex key. Link here.

The Craftsman hammer is my FIRST hammer to have a maker stamped on it. Being a Craftsman guy I love it. Looks like it got little use with the paint still on the head. Also, love the CM hacksaw!

Interesting that the S-K Lectrolite combo wrenches don't appear to have any gaps in the sizes. The sizes are 11/16, 5/8, 9/16, 1/2, 7/16, and 3/8. I realize someone could have taken bigger (and smaller) sizes and just it's just happenstance that there isn't a gap but it made me wonder if maybe this could have been a set that S-K offered at some time. Thoughts?

Lastly, what kind of pliers are these Snap-On?

Thanks for any info!
Mike

That's a good find, ex-x, especially with the liner, and especially if it's an L or XL. I've had one since I was a teenager (my Aunt was a lifer - enlisted 1943, retired 1973, and used to bring us all kinds of goodies from Tobyhanna Army Depot) and I am only now staring to outgrow it a little! :)

It must have been Box-and-Cabinet Day for me.

The Rebuth Steel cabinet is pre-1947 (pre-Area Code). I don't know anything about the company, but I liked the cabinet, especially the large fraction-to-decimal conversion chart.

There's a Heritage =CRAFTSMAN= box with a nice badge behind it and to the left.

In front of that is a wartime Snap/on MT-26B Tune-Up Set case. There's a Kem (Nutley, NJ) vacuum gauge and some adaptors inside, but none of it is original. I have a timing light and some other pieces to put in there, though.

In front of that is a wartime Walden-Worcester 1/2-inch socket set case. I only wanted the case and four (4) WW pcs inside - a few sockets and a cross bar, but the guy insisted on all or nothing, so I am stuck with a bunch of Craftsman =V= pcs, too. The paint is flaking and lost of rust but the lid is embossed with the WW logo, so this is going to get stripped and repainted to hold some WW stuff.

The smalls are an antique (1905) L.S. Starrett Speed Indicator No. 104 and a pair of vintage free swiveling safety goggles. No markings but they look 1930's to 1940's vintage to me.

We all like to crow about our success stories, seldom do we admit to our misses, miscues, and mistakes. It does help keep one humble. I had one today. Walked away like a rookie cheapskate from a Jim Beam replica Army Canteen decanter for two minutes before I came to my senses and when I turned around and came back there was another guy standing there buying it. Literally, two minutes. These were made in 1979 by Regal China. Everything is ceramic except for the authentic-looking cap (plastic) and chain, which really helps pull the whole look off. I didn't snap a pic, but if you've never seen one, here's a link.

I will be kicking myself in the a$$ on this one all day.

I hit an estate sale this morning. Was super excited to see a wild turkey on my way there. I was the first person there. The rains hit just as I got there and 5 minutes in the tool shed the power went out. I'd had enough time to see a couple of Proto Professional (1/2" & 1/4") ratchets in a toolbox and a few miscellaneous Snap-On sockets. They wanted too much for the plastic toolbox and it's contents but were happy to sell me the ratchets separately which is really all I was interested in. I paid $10 for the ratchets.

In honor of seeing that turkey this morning I couldn't pass on this ink drawing. It was talking to me. I suspect it's a local artist but if anyone thinks they recognize the name let me know. I can't figure out what the name is. Yet.

That would be a RHFT Craftman ratchet in a complete socket set for me. I saw it and thought that sure does look familiar but i put it back down not thinking it was worth my time. When I got to the next room that ratchet kept bugging me and so I went back to the tool room and it was gone. Later on I found out I missed out on a good deal for $2.

That was last year.

I love when someone scoops it up right after I put it down. One that comes to mind was a mixed box of vintage Snap On and Cornwell for 5 bucks at the flea market years ago. Seller said 5 bucks, and I wasn’t thinking clearly that day. Guy walks up with his wife one second later and says that’s Snap On! 5 bucks, sold!

Sometimes I nearly cross my fingers that someone will put something back down, like the two women oogling the “cute little” 1/4” vintage Husky set last year. I got lucky there.

TX- Nice score there on the Proto.
I’m trying to make out the art as we speak. Da, Da,Da....Da...Vinci. That’s it! DaVinci.

We hit a good estate sale in Union City, CA and a pretty marginal one in Fremont. I was able to talk my way into a shed with a Craftsman stack and hit paydirt in the wrench drawer. The first picture is everything, followed by the Snap on. The third picture is Thorsen/PowrKraft followed by Craftsman then Barcalo. The sixth picture is tools from the Proto/Plomb empire including Challenger and P&C. The last picture is of the second sale.

Lugz, I know what you mean about missed opertunities. I saw a Walker Turner table saw at the restore, perfect with even the original motor and power switch, just missing the fence. Thought about it overnight, went back first thing in the morning... Gone.

So, hit two estate sales today, after swinging by a garage sale (he keeps having the same sale, I keep going...) and a few thrift stores, waiting for one sale that looked really promising, to open at noon. So, I stopped at the not very promising one a little later that I should have, but I will get to that one in a sec.

At the noon sale (seriously, why open at noon?) which was packed when I got there at 12:30 I found it was mostly overpriced Harbor freight ****, but managed to pick up some old boat building books and mags from the 40's-50's and a reversable 1/2 horse Craftsman motor, which I had been looking for.

The other sale was insane. Only way to put it. Was a doctors house, apparently he was one of the first investors in HP. 5000 square feet of more **** than you can shake a stick at. Fur coats, rooms full of cook books, rooms full of Xmas stuff, rooms just full of tubs of... stuff. Everywhere just stuff. All looking like it was from ******* in about 1969. In a weird house that kinda made zero sense. A long corridor with half a dozen storage rooms, offices, shelves, tons of dolls, dolls everywhere. There was no clear way to get outside the house, where gardening went on, except by boat on a little creek.

Anyway, there was a little shop and a small outbuilding and some tools sorted out in the back, where I found the following:
Williams extension, Crowntop protractor, sockets, Herbrand combo, Plomb and Blue Point DBEs, reamers, tubing cutter and feeler gauge.
20180504_155948.jpg
Oh, and a little box. Whats inside the little box?
20180504_160832.jpg
New Britain, wood handle, missing only the tommy bar.
$26 for all that.

I picked up a Tri Power emblem and 1965 NY tag today at the Rhinebeck NY Swap Meet today. I also saw this interesting Malvese Tractor.

Good score on that tripower emblem - I think it's from 1958 (there were minor differences in the emblems from one year to the next.)

ALL: it's been a while since I posted anything or actually made time to go to a sale or buy anything, but I found this Richfield charger that needed a new home. I think it works according to the 90 year old previous owner, but if it doesn't do i need a degree to restore one of these or are these pretty simple cause I love this one a lot more than the other ones I own?

hope you all have a great weekend!!

BMW: if you might want a Walker Turner table saw to restore i'm open for trades or cash if you want to PM me your email i'll send you a few pictures of mine that might need a few things, but I think it runs ok. also just curious how expensive the restored or pristine one was if you want to send that in a PM too or say here?
