Probably 100 ft of 16-3 wire:

Rt angle drill adapter, Light socket (sometimes you just grab and toss in the box...) and an OLD flashlight with a focusing lens, (wide angle or spot)?

Hy Lite:

I've been wanting one of these ever since I first saw an exhaust gas analyser when they first started testing for smog. Perfect for tuning a carb! This one is relatively compact and I think complete but for something for the tach.

attachment.php

The Business end of the sniffer -Does not look to have been used a lot!

A couple more pics left!

Those pistons are apparently for either the 4 cylinder Ford "N" series tractors or 1949-1953 239 CI flathead V8's. Too bad they are standard.

So it would seem BB! I hadn't had time to run the numbers down. I didn't think the old flat heads were so small. Thanks!

Maybe not as exciting or vintage as some of the stuff on here but I got this about a week ago for a truck kit. Everything on the bottom is marked USA except the ratchets, anyone know if the ratchets are USA too? The top lid had a Kobalt 12 -inch extension and 9/16 socket both made in USA. The socket on the right is a 5/8 no-name.

I have a blow mold boxed set similar to that I got 15 plus years ago and it was based in the Craftsman 99 pc. metric set. I added a second set of combination wrenches, some drivers and pliers, a few other odds and ends, and it's been my main road box ever since. the extra storage makes it very versatile with the right stuff.

I used it exclusively when I did an engine transplant into the rig to make sure I had every tool needed for the rig. I have a second very small "accessory" box with a hammer impact and the 2" (50 MM) socket needed for the front hub nuts (Won't fit the other box). Its been a work horse!

That's an amazing buy. Hell the Craftsman ratchet is worth twice that. Can't wait to see what's in the box.

Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

there was about half good stuff half junk. I got half cleaned up, and will try to get the rest done in the next couple days after work and post. There's some interesting stuff in there. One neat thing is a MONROE wrench! I didn't know they made them! See Firsestone a lot on here and the fleabay.

Struck out at every sale this weekend. After lunch I hit an estate sale late on Saturday. Everything was mostly picked over and marked half off. I found this beauty in the garage. The people running the sale seemed eager to move the remaining items. This lantern was marked $75! Even half off was too much for me. I made them an almost insulting offer which they happily took. This lantern was burned maybe one time and I cant find a nick or scratch anywhere on it!

Good day at the flea market. Found this giant tap wrench, Greenfield #8, shown with the GTD #7-1/2 and #00 which I already had, for scale. Missing 1 handle, will have to fab that. An NOS Jacobs 1/2" chuck and a Kant Twist clamp, 2 Wilton vises, and 2 clamp ons, a Victor Jersey and a Stanley. The Hanson Ace tap and die is missing the tap handle, will have to dig one up. Then there's the Dayton 1/3 HP 6" grinder, the thing is stupid heavy, more than a comparable Baldor, and a lot more than a CM block, it's no wonder they put a handle on it.

Also from Sun., an almost full gal. of raw linseed oil for $1., WD-40 for the same, 6" wire wheel, part of a small miter gauge, idler wheels to 1" belt sanders like the one in the next to last pic that I bought 2 weeks ago, Chevy V8 oil pump priming tool, and the pry bar. Almost seems like the pry bar may have a specific use, anybody recognize it?

On another note, thought of you guys when a seller had a couple Coleman lanterns, along with 1 that was about 2/3's the size, marked "Sears Junior". Did I miss out on anything special? I always stick to stuff I know, hate when I see a wood plane or something like that that may be valuable but I just don't know enough about them.

The last pic shows a seat made from a 55 gal. drum, didn't buy it, but thought it was pretty clever.

Not much going on here this weekend, the rain scared off most people running sales.

27688024827_47b693b95f_c.jpg

Get to my last stop of the day, a TOO I had spotted out of the corner of my eye that wasn't listed anywhere online. Guy had a few machines and nice things, start talking and he says "you should have been here 3 weeks ago when I started selling" Gah, advertise your sales people! :(

Oh well, 5$ got me a Barcalo Buffalo and Craftsman USA DBE, 2 Gray Canada DBE (that are identical, oops), a Dowidat combo and Great neck metal yard stick.

Here's Friday's finds, all from estate sales.

First stop had a lot of stuff but not much for me. Spent $58 which $40 of that was the Craftsman vise.

Pic 1: Gearwrench ratchet stubby set, a free Kroil can with a little bit in it, Comet 50 ft tape measure, Diamond pliers, Craftsman wrench, hex bit driver, needle nose pliers and the USA made 5 1/2" vise which is in decent shape. Channelock Bell System pliers with an inside hook ?, Proto wrench and Klein tape measure, pliers, small screwdriver and 2 adjustable wrenches.

Stop # 2 had hardly any tools but I picked up some old models and trains to flip. Some of them were even free from the trash pile. Also picked up the Collins axe and a Craftsman car tin with tools inside that I have temporarily misplaced LOL. Spent $25.

Pic 2, 3: The race car is gas powered and Big Bear is a Datsun despite the Chevy stepside bed.

Pic 4: The race boat had twin electric motors.

Pic 5: The Golden Eagle Tyco train should get all my money back for this stop.

Pic 6: The Collins axe will got to an axe collector, I will make a couple of dollars on it.

Stop #3 was my favorite of the day, owner was a Sears employee. Family kept a lot of the tools but I still found some goodies. Spent $27

Pic 1: Craftsman Crown logo working soldering iron and a Sears folding ruler,

Pic 2: 2 each Craftsman garden shears, Sears screwdriver kit, Craftsman spark plug gauge and a Power screwdriver set.

Pic 3: Sears Reel oil, gas filter, corner braces and 3 Sears hardware packs.

Pic 4: Craftsman trouble light and small limb saw.

Pic 5: My FAVORITE finds of the entire day, Sears catalogs BUT the big Peden Iron and Steel hardbound catalog from 1955 was my absolute favorite find of the day.

Over 1000 pages, has Athol vises, Coleman lanterns and stoves, Crescent, Williams, Mayhew and Black and Decker tools, anvils and LOTS of other stuff. It was basically a combination of a huge steel yard with a Sears Roebuck. 1154 pages PLUS a 58 page index!

Scored a Stihl chainsaw and a Reed 214R on Friday, as noted above, but hit an estate sale just before noon on Saturday. I think it's time to admit I have a vise problem. Probably not the kind you're thinking though...my problem seems to be with B&D Workmates of the vintage variety. They keep finding me and I keep buying them. This one was marked down to $10. Another buck for the almost full can of 3-in-1 oil and almost 4 packs of sandpaper. It didn't have the bench dogs but I've got an extra set. I've picked up 3 Workmates in less than two months. They all look like they've barely been used. That's not counting the first one I got early in the year. I'll try to resell the two extras on CL. I only hope this is the last. I'd prefer this Workmate addiction turns into a Reed/Athol/Prentiss/Rock Island/Wilton Bullet vise problem! :)

454 the sears Jr was probability worth a bit. the odd ones. I'd have to do soem reaserch but the collectors like the others its dependent on the lanterns.

That said, Most any lantern that is complete with globe, and is $10 or less is worth grabbing.

The common green 2 mantle lanterns (Mod 220), unless very old or military, are hard re-sellers, generally, but often great users. Same lantern with a wide brim top vent (228) much more popular!

TX focus on the ones with the Marine Ply tops, or the aluminum frame. Those are the ones to have IMO...

You do know there is a thread for that...

Outlaw,

I can't say I've ever seen or heard of the "Marine Ply" tops or the aluminum frames. Got any pics?

I should have guessed there was a link for them but I've never seen it either!

I'm just a babe in the woods. You can interpret that however you want!)

I went to a big live estate auction on Saturday and came away with some new decorations for the garage. And some will also be useful for hanging parts or tools.

Lots of signs and oil cans and Nascar stuff. Also a fair amount of advertising displays were for sale. A lot of the smaller stuff went cheap as the big bidders were waiting for the large signs to spend their money on.

When I saw Awesome Bill stand up in life size form along with Nascar legend Junior Johnson I knew it was coming home with me. It has a little water damage in places but still ok. The biggest stain in on Bill's sleeve and the front of Juniors white shirt looking like he was eating BBQ for lunch and spilled some on his shirt front. Kinda funny I think.

AMMCO Brake metal peg board display, Kasey Kayne Budweiser display car and Rusty Wallace sign, Valvoline display sign with stand was new in box and never used, a little Champion bucket to hold my work gloves, the CarQuest rack will be useful for holding misc items, and the Cooper Tire display stand.

Then after the auction I spent the afternoon in Midland at a big swap meet there and found a decent Hurst shifter (not pictured). It was a good day of picking.

The H&P pick-mattock sheath (which has NO musty odor!)...
I remember well your pick-mattock from last year - cool that you found a sheath for it this year.

LS is that someone's Bicycle/Mini Bike trying to look like an Army MC?
I guess so.
It might be legit. People tend to think of the Harley WLA and the Indians when they think of WWII, but there were smaller motorcycles, scooters, and bicycles used by Airborne, by the US Army Air Corps at airfields - to zip up and down flight lines, etc. The Cushman scooters look like minibikes, are rare, and sell for big bucks. But it does kind of sorta look like someone made a little WLA replica out of old bike parts and a 2-stroke motor. EDIT: I'm no expert but I'll find out.

Since you remember that, you will surely remember your contemporaneous find of wire cutters from the same period. I saw two pairs Sunday on display (NFS).

Indeed!

BTW, your funny looking motorcycle is a 1950's era Simplex Manufacturing Corporation Servi-Cycle. Made in New Orleans from 1935 to 1975. If you google it, you'll find all kinds of links, from Wiki to militaria, and you'll see other examples, mainly civilian versions, but there are a few other military examples out there.

Lots of great finds lately guys!

Pawn shop 5 dolla holla to report. Craftsman, p&c, Bonney, Snap On.

The Snappy was caked in a hardened black gunk, so I know that slipped past them. The pry bar looks like ol’ rufus took a bite.

Any suggestions to smooth that gouge in the handle?. It’s extremely rough. I was thinking dremel type bits or heat.

I think I'd try tiny files and then small pieces of progressively-finer sandpaper, personally.

file and/or sanding block, unless you have a belt sander. if you finish with 1500-2000 grit, the new profile will look as good as factory, or funny and misshapen, depending how it goes.

Which is more important: color or profile? Removing more material to make it smooth will make the shape worse, but it will remain solid red. On the other hand, you could leave it rough and fill the gouges with epoxy, then file or sand that down to the original contour. The color won’t match, but I think it would feel better in the hand.
