I'll do the recall. Wanted the base for my RAS. This one is a 9", my other one is a 10".

I've been wondering is there any limit on the number of saws you can send in on the Craftsman recall? I did my first one earlier this year. Passed on one locally about a month ago at $15.

Picked up my first Plomb tool at a flea market today for $5. I don't collect any one brand although I favor Snap-On. I picked this up because I liked the looks of it.

Nice find! Be careful buying stuff you like the looks of. It's a slippery slope.

Here is some more stuff I picked up at the flea market today.
Snap-On 70B snap ring pliers.
Snap-On Vacugrip? diagonal cutters
Billings 7/16 x 3/8 wrench
Cleveland No. 1 & No. 2 Morse taper drifts
Lufkin MezurAll No. 928 8' tape measure - the tape is in good shape!
Greenlee drill bit in box
Awesome little container of cotter pins - I love these containers.

Good question. I did one in my name about 5 years ago. Helped a friend do one and my sister do one in the past two years but my name wasn't on those.

The web site doesn't say anything about how many times an individual is allowed to exercise the recall. If you think about why they're doing the recall, their goal is to get saws out of circulation, so they shouldn't care who gets the money.

I got it because another guy wouldn’t pay 10, he insisted it was only worth 5. I told the seller I would pay 10 and he said “here you go”. The other buyer was not happy.
You can't make this stuff up. Two eedjits too lazy to do just a little research haggling about a $5 difference on something actually worth $100+!! I can understand when it happens with the house close-out guys whose optempo is so high and profit based on volume and movement they can't slow down to do research. When it's some guy with twenty items on a table, I just. don't. get. it.

EDIT: Did you say where you got it? Was this an estate/garage sale or a flea?
EDIT 2: DISREGARD. I see. Estate sale.

Exactly BB. I've read the website a couple of times and no mention about it and I came to the same consensus you did but it would be nice to know rather than find out the answer was no after sending in another RAS. I'm sure there is someone here on GJ who has done and will know. I suppose I could just start a new thread.

Yes, I've got examples that are blued and others that are chrome-plated. Yours appears to be in really great shape! Great pliers, especially for gunsmithing.

As BlueBomber said the goal is to remove the saws from circulation.
They will probably keep doing the recall till they have removed a certain percentage of the number of saws manufactured then stop the recall. Figuring the remaining saws have been removed by other means. Trashed, worn out, etc.

I just tried their toll free number...

"For more information, call Emerson at (800) 511-2628 anytime..."

but apparently "anytime" means Tues-Fri, 8-5 CST. They should have an authoritative answer that I think is relevant for this thread as many on here stumble across RASs regularly and would like to know.

Good luck!

Ten Bucks from CL for this Outboard tank: Spotless inside!

This gives me two 6 gallon outboard tanks to use as "reserve" tanks when I go camping for a week, which is 2 more gallons that the rig caries in its tank!

You guys are finding some great stuff!
I was heavy on the wrenches at this weekends flea, with a few other odds and ends mixed in.
Lots of Combos, a handful of SK for my wrench board, P&C, Bonney, Wright.
Proto screwdrivers, A handful of sockets. 3 B&S V-Blocks, wartime Ulster TL-29 electrician's knife.
NOS auto parts (MōPār and Thompson) in some cool old packaging
And a mostly complete SK 3/8" and 1/4" socket set.

Last 7 days had been absolutely crazy at work - leaving very early and coming very late. Prior to running to work on one of the weekend days I stopped by at a sale and bought some staff.
Sorry for the late post: it was like a Groundhogs day:
Shower - drive - work - drive - home - eat - sleep - shower - drive - work.... You got my point... Did not even have time to clean the tools...

Please sit back and enjoy:

Some of the things:
A lot of C-clamps: large one is Wilson, majority are Cincinnati with some Hargraves

Wrenches (did not count)
1. Craftsman =V=
2. Craftsman -V-
3. Long C craftsman - very rusty, need to clean
4. Hazet - 4 pieces - would have never thought about picking them up if not for recent board post
5. Blue point (marked)
6. Snap On (marked)
7. SK
8. Lectrolite
9 Buffalo Barcalo, Fleet, etc...

Ratchets:
SK Wayne 45170 3/8
Craftsman 3/8, 1/2 (-V-)
3 no-name

Breaker bars:
Craftsman =V= 1/2
SK Wayne 3/8 45153
Snap On 3/8 F-10-L 1951
Snap OnM-10-D 1945
Unknown

Extensions
Snap On, SK, Craftsman (several each)

Sockets: probably around 80 (did not count). Many Craftsman =V=, -V- (my guess around 45), couple of others like -VV-, E, EE
Some Snap On(6) , SK Wayne (including this massive one for 3/4 drive) and SK (15 for all), bunch of Japan Truecraft, Japan, Taiwan, etc and
...(drums....) My first PLOMB piece ever (black one in front of SK Wayne - was a little piece covered with dirt, after some cleaning (cleaned total of 3 pieces due to lack of time), found some writing on it. Love it!

Xcellite collection

MATCO and a single Snap On picks

Bonney set in a box

Bunch of random staff - not remembering now

Sorry, some items appear twice - tried to show them better...

And if you wanted to ask: $35 + around 11 miles on a car....

And now question for all: I am missing part of a lock of the SK Wayne box
1. Is it possible to get it replaced/fixed?
2. Does SK sell those parts?

... I think I am slowly getting hooked up on SK - will probably start picking them up if I see them...

Not a bad day at the pawn shops today...it pays to dig through those bins. These will all help feed my habit

SnapOn 11mm RXSM11B 50 cents
cRAFTSMAN rhft 3/8 43781 $2.50
Like new Williams 12 in adjustable $1
Snapon TM737 50 cents

Had something happen in a pawn shop that has never happened to be before. I pulled out the RHFT 3/8 and an Armstrong 14mm USA stubby wrench from a box that had a bunch of oddball tools in it. Went to the counter and the guy ( the manager) told me to take them, for free. WTH? I gave him 5$ for the 2...not a charity guy. The little snapon ratchet was stuck but is working great now. Enjoy

Shopping on Facebook Marketplace again and I found these two boxes ,now residing in my cramped garage. The first one I believe is a Star/National Cabinet Co. second is a Craftsman crowntop.

Tin-Medic - I have that same Craftsman C-series set and I believe it is complete. I will check when I get home what sockets and drive tools are included. Here is a pic of the set.

Great find by the way.

I guess it was oddity day at my Wednesday Early Bird since I came home with a miscellaneous assortment of curio cabinet type 25-cents each wrenches.

Left to right top to bottom are:
- A set of Hinsdale T.M. REG. 'Chrome-Vanadium-Steel' DOE's, numbers 1, 2, and 3 (LesserSon, who I believe is on a cross-country trek with his bride, has as a set going...)
- A Belzer 11 x 14 metric (Germany)
- An early Bonney B-Shield
- An even earlier Mossberg (first Mossberg DOE wrench I have ever seen...)
- The deep socket is a pre-war Walden with a 1" service opening stamped "Standard Oil Co"
- The round-nose pliers with wire cutter are antique Schollhorn's made of pressed steel
- That copper or possibly BeCu wrench is a Herbrand 1725
- The DBE is a CROMAL (that's Williams) No. 16727 (5/8 x 9/16) in near-mint condition.
- The combos are a Tru-Fit WILDE (not a typo!) and a Plomb 1216
- The art deco paneled wrench is a Barc-Buff 3/16 x 11/32
- Last but not least, something for Rileysan's WIZARD thread (Duro-made obstruction wrench).

What is the period this set would have been offered and what kind of sockets would it have come with? Long C BE?
