Another tape measure and 5 Fleet DOE's

Now my OCD will kick in and I will begin a quest for the fill-ins.
I checked the Fleet milk jug and found a 1/2-9/16 DOE but it's not in great shape plus its a different style, "Fleet" is in script.
no tools, but I bought a set of vintage Rader 5 spokes to re sell. 14x6 gm bolt pattern. all four are in nice shape, and all four spinners are there. got them cheap on the last day of an estate sale.

Picked this up today. Pretty solid little box. $12 My mom wants it for her change when she does yard sales.
Those little boxes are sort of mythical...they can hold a surprising amount of tools, they don't show up very often, and when they do they seem to be high priced. You did well.
Found a couple pair of pliers;
1. Don't see any markings.
2. 12" Fuller
3. Dunlap
4. Large Kraueter pliers.
5. Snap On nippers.

So, I see a sign “old car shop-stuff for sale”, roll up with the five year old, hop out head inside.
Right away, I see a bench grinder $5, no idea what brand but I tell him I’ll take it. Make my way around the shop. All kinds of cool stuff that I’d love to drag home but decide not to.
Final corner there is a bin full of tools. Start digging through, I have a handful of Proto, s-k, Blackhawk, ratchets, wrenches etc
Lady comes up behind me tells me ‘that stuff is not for sale, there are signs’ I step back. No signs. Look back at her. ‘There were signs and this is my shop too!’
I toss it all back in the box reach around her and hand the guy $5 bucks for the bench grinder and walk out.
Turned out to be a ‘made in China’ but it will work for now.

A mother load of a garage/tool sale. I didn’t have enough money to buy what I would have. here’s just a few things.
The medium sized flex head ratchet is a Stanley. The other 2 are cratftsman.
The heat gun has adjaustable temperature settings for high and low.
The Dewalt corded drill is pretty cool. High\low torque settings with variable speed control and original metal case in good shape. Also has a Starret bit to hold different drill bits. I don’t know anything about this but will research it.
Neat impact socket set, 17 19 and 21mm and 11/16”.
I’m working on the Stihl. can’t get it tomorrow stay running. it wants to but after research it, they have a sue’s with the choke mechanism which I see after taking it apart.
Not sure the story but she wanted $50 for the saw. I just grouped everything up and took it home for $80.

This weeks haul for me came from an Estate Auction up in Flint, north of me. Got another aluminum X frame Workmate. This one is not as old as my last find but other than dirt, dust and some old paint stains is on good condition and will work nicely when cleaned up.
Also won a number of smaller items including a Kukri knife, a couple small back saws, a magnifier, some nice little signs and one specific named for my garage.
Last was a set of three old wide white wall tires and a couple tires stands. The tires were dirt cheap and will be cleaned up and just used for a old timey display.

Hey JABgj, that clutch tool is called a "grab-it" created by a guy named Joe Bolger. I don't think he ever patented them, some of the later ones had short pins in the side of the extended jaws so you could use it as a spanner wrench. They work great for holding all kinds of sprockets , pulleys etc.

I found a surprising amount of US tools at the local flea market today, but prices were high. I did pick up a few Snap On and Easco sockets and an SK 2" extension. I also grabbed some Hazet screwdriver sockets along with FACOM and Heyco sockets. I passed on some Craftsman raised panel wrenches and screwdrivers due to the price and I don't really need them.

Some highlights of this weekend finds:
Kennedy 278 roller, it had some tools in it, I asked how much?
They said "mmmm.... $10?"
"Okay"
Christie roll around battery charger/booster. Works great, has a timer and fan.
Tools that were in the Kennedy are mostly older Husky and a few Fleet wrenches. Some Craftsman sockets thrown in.
Not really a tool, Grundig Satellit 800 short wave, am, fm radio

So a guy has had a bunch of old tools on Craigslist for over a week. I was going to go look at them but didn't look like much and I didn't want to spend $10 on gas to go look at junk. So he says he is goin to get more tools from his dad and text me pictures. So over a week later on Thursday morning he finally texts me pictures. HOLY COW! I was doing stuff at my house and a friend was helping me but I made arrangements for going in the afternoon at 2 PM. Walk in and stuff is laid out neatly. I see a nice Wilton Bullet on a workbench and a rusty Wilton bullet sitting on the ground. What's that grinder under the workbench with 1 HP on the shield? A CRAFTSMAN 1 HP Block Grinder in good shape!. I'm the only customer there and I think the first person to show up period. So I spent over 2 hours digging and talking to him.
So I'll start with the Craftsman I picked up.
Pic 1: This Craftsman Competition Chest is around 1974, it's not in great shape but they are hard to find in nice shape.
Pic 2: The socket rack is all =V=, it's missing the 19/32 which I should have. The drill gauges are both Crown logo. The flex sockets are 6 point -V-, the RHFT ratchet is an early Patent Pending =V= with no part number 1/2" drive and is in nice shape.
Pic 3: The wrenches are all =V= without a part number, they do have owner's initials stamped in them but I never find these large ones.
Pic 4: The flare nut wrench set is V/\ and the flex handle is =V=.
Pic 5: My FAVORITE Craftsman find of the day, the Crown logo Vernier caliper in mint condition. The Crown logo punch set is one I didn't have so it was a nice find too. The little box is a 1/4" drive set.
Pic 6: The 1/4 drive set is around 1967-1968 going by the ratchet. Notice it has the cross bar for the flex handle although it's a bit rusty.

OK, here is part 2 of the big haul.
I know some of you are like "Did you get the Wilton's?"
Well I got the rusty one on the floor. It's a 350S, January 1973 (1 73) date code. It's actually in pretty good shape, straight handles, no hammer marks, jaw inserts are very crisp thanks to the worn out copper jaw covers. It does have 4 little holes for those cover screws that will need to be filled.
He is keeping the nice Wilton 400S that was on the workbench, I clued him in on what it is worth and how much they currently are new.
I also picked up some axes and hammers. The claw hammer is a True Temper Kelly Perfect, probably from the early 1950's. They bring good money on Ebay. The double axes are both True Temper Kelly Perfect too and the roofing hatchet is True Temper as well. All four True Tempers are presold to my axe guy for a nice little profit.
The small hammers are copper Temco's and the large ones are Berylco 58H beryllium copper ball peens.
Well I have to go drink beer with friends, part 3 and maybe even 4 later!

VERY slow again for tools. Lots of sale, many saying "tools" very slim pickings...

Long Shoehorn, (Still looking for a better quality one with a long handle, but for now...), 2 Brass Hose sprayers, an old tin of soldering paste flux, stil about 1/2 full, A Proto driver, and a "spool" of coper wire that used to be a coil for something.
A shelf, this wile replace a key rack near the front door.
Agate slices - these were given to my oldest daughter as part of her birthday gifts. She want so make a table top of them.
The two nozzles got me to eight adjustable since I started picking them up when cheap, and no two are alike! Only two are even the same brand! So I have a mental bet of "when will I get the first duplicate?
Today I had a LOT of stops, (another neighborhood sale) and pickings were VERY Slim! the Chain cleaner, was the nearest thing to a tool!
Plastic Chain cleaner container- on top of its box, $1 Two Picture frames that used foreign coins. $2 A pair of Handcuffs with a key. (these are the real deal not mock-ups for play.) three bucks, mini maracas, and jingle bells for a buck.
The second Frame and some beeswax candles, (a buck for the candles.)

A tarp sized poncho; It even has grommets on the edges to use it as a tarp. The guy claimed it came from a surplus store. but I don't see any military markings.

The yellow blob is a six egg carton for camping. I already have one for a dozen, so now I can house a box of 18...
A toy bow, for cents fifty, I got it as a "fly swatter... (those flat ends..) I discovered on a test shot he heads whistle!
A couple of things today were from freecycle: a few dozen pieces of old 50's/60's 2" oak flooring maybe 20-30 inches long. (No pics) These are handy for re-purpose projects.
And a Yamaha Portable keyboard.

Went to a swap meet with my 5 year old son today and I think he got about as many hot wheels and planes as I got tools but that is ok [emoji23] the items I did get I needed to fill holes so that is good! I have not cleaned anything yet but there is a plomb made sr socket, plomb sockets, p&c socket as well as some proto chisels. Got a plomb big boy 1-5/16 wrench and a good wood handle flat tip plomb stubby! Also got some proto la combos and got a transitional plomb 8” adjustable wrench for $2 at the last booth we hit before we stopped for the day ! I hit a too on the way there and picked up this carry box !The reason I got it was for the snap on drive accessories in the top tray! The box will get passed onto my son and I will sort and use or give away the rest. Paid $5 for the box !

Well after complaining how bad the sales have been around here, the yard sale gods must have decided to throw me a bone this weekend. Went to 1 sale yesterday, first 2 pics show my picks from there. Full, or nearly full 30 LB jug of R12, Rigid 24" aluminum pipe wrench, Ridgid 3/8" tubing bender, Snap On deep impact sockets, 1-1/4" and 1-5/16", Matco oil pressure sender socket, assortments of cotter pins, grommets and nylocks, General ratcheting tap wrench, Hubbell female plug, about half a roll of 5/16" fuel hose, muffler clamp, box of sheet rock screws and some convoluted harness wrap.
Second pic shows lot of chemicals, trans fluid gear oil, couple Preval sprayers, can of JD green paint, qt. of boiled linseed, and the box of assorted rolocs, with 2" and 3" holders.
As I went to ask the woman running the sale how much, thinking to myself "I hope she doesn't say more than $60", you can imagine my surprise when she said "How about $25.?" Works for me.
Last 2 pics show my finds from today, about 5 stops, 2 of which bore fruit. Last pic shows 10 qts of Castrol GTX and 3 gal. of Prestone, only 1 of which has the foil seal, will probably toss the other 2, though they may be just diluted 50/50, contents look clean and fresh. Paid $5. for all.
Third pic shows my finds from my last stop of the day, though the woman running it was such a flake I almost left empty handed. Brand new PC grinder marked $10, made in USA industrial grinder was marked $5, 2 boxes of 3" Rolocs, 1 marked $8, other $10. 10 3M Roloc bristle brushes, she told me $5 for the lot, and a new chain I'm 99% sure fits my Ryobi 40 volt cordless chainsaw, marked $2. Not shown is a new Craftsman 8" fine bench grinder wheel, brown in color, marked $3. I added everything up, came to $43, asked her if she could do $40 for the lot. She comes over, starts looking and counting, then says the industrial grinder isn't supposed to be $5, as she picks up another air tool to show me a higher price, only thing was, that one was marked $5. as well. Then says she's not sure the chain should be marked $2, and the grinding stone shouldn't be marked $3. As I start to walk away disgusted, she says I can have everything except the stone for $35. I counter with why don't you include the $3. stone for $40? Nope. 
So I pay the fruitcake $35 and leave the stone behind.

Part of today’s haul included another No4 and a No7, both missing their round pads. The No7 has a very faint remnant of “PAT AUG” but the No4 has a clear “PAT AUG 14 1888”. Neither has PS&WCo that I can see, but the web pattern on the cheeks and the overall design make it clear that’s what they are. So this is another variant.

Today I drove to Cayuga NY, accompanied by my dad and Mrs LesserSon. Nothing extraordinary, but I did make a few purchases, amounting to something just north of $25. Nice little SK box, two Disston cabinent saws and a Speare & Jackson rip saw. Small Erie pile vise. Four Bonney wrenches. A wood block for numeral stamps, Craftsman screwdriver, New Britain-marked screwstarter, small container of Millers Falls pushdrill bits, an iron canopener (for when the apocalypse begins), a Utica linemans pliers. A miscellency of rusty stuff and a wood handle Bonney Phillips stubby screwdriver.

A pile of rusty files and rasps (from the bottom of the SK box), sanding and buffing discs. The Utica pliers are interesting because they have “US” stamped at the bottom of one handle.

Also spotted, but did not buy, this steel-wheeled hand cart. It reminded me of the one Lugz posted a while back. But the wood was pretty far-gone.

Part 3 of the big haul from Thursday. For anyone wondering I did not get the Craftsman 1 hp block grinder although I made him a hefty offer. I spent $220 total and have already presold $77 of it.

Another small group today. 2 different flavors of solder, Craftsman chisel, Baer proportioning valve, Craftsman punch, mini pliers, Ridgid tight quarters tubing cutter, Gear Wrench 1/4" extension, the red thing with a hole in it is a finger dolly(?) maybe someone can enlighten me as to how they might be used and a lower blade guard for a Skil 77 saw (I think).

Yes the red thing is a finger dolly used in body work applications where a conventional hammer would not reach. Obviously not as effective as an actual hammer but better than nothing... in this case you can use it as a dolly or use it to strike the metal.

Hit the same swap that Smoke was talking about, meeting up with Rileysan. And he proceeded to pick the swap clean! I watched in awe, getting in a few good picks myself (I need little at this point, so I am trying to by particular) Here was my take:
The chisel is a Stanley, Herbrand wrench from WWII, Millers Falls driver, Snap-on pliers, Misc. sockets (Williams, Proto, Snap-on) Proto wrenches and a nice zig-zag ruler with brass slide out.
Mossberg rat (non-ratcheting sadly) and wood socket set box. Not sure if it is the right one, but it is nice.
Proto box for set 5005 with insert, it's for universal sockets!
Misc. lathe and machine tooling. I couldn't use as much as I thought I could but still found the good stuff. The rest is up for anyone who wants it.
Machinist chest, which I got for $50. I think it was made in the '50's, but I am not sure who did it. It is the cheapest chest I have seen from that period, but still nice. I will start a thread for that one.
The two best things I found are in the first pic though
A Proto LA METRIC! Metric people! I have only seen one before and I didn't buy it, and it haunts me to this day! Also a '29 Snap-on socket. Mixed in on the dollar table. If that looks like a lot, you should see what Rileysan picked up. He must have had 300 pounds worth of goodies. We were quite the team pulling all that out.

You didn't mention how often we had to stop! I must have sweat off 5lbs today.
I didn't see that Proto LA metric wrench. I own, but do not have in my possession, a Proto LA metric/Whitworth tool board. If you don't intend to keep the wrench ...
As for my haul, it included vises, tool boxes, and big wrenches. The pictures I have at the moment are of the Plomb 1164, 1 5/8" x 1 11/16" DBE I bought for $20, a Rock Island 571 (3") swivel vise for $20, a Stanley USA 4" drill press vise for $20, and a Boston #4 pencil sharpener for $5. I have much more but there are no photos at the moment.
I've spent the rest of my evening cleaning up a Craftsman =V= 3/4" drive socket set I am giving to my SIL now that he is officially a diesel mechanic and is just starting out in a service truck. I also want to thank BMWRD0 for giving me a nice batch of tools including a 3/4" drive socket I added to the set I'm giving to my SIL.
Smokeshow was a real champ bringing his 5yo son to one of the best swap meets a tool junkie waits for every year. His son proudly proclaimed "I got as much stuff as you dad!"
I enjoyed hanging out with my GJ friends at yet another great event! BMWRD0, Smokeshow69, OregonRockCrusher. Sadly, Provincial couldn't make it!
