Sunday haul! just found a few things today. Dug around in an old toolbox full of rusty junk. found a Plumb and truth socket there along with a couple of old Craftsman and a few other things. I found a 12 lith ion Dewalt drill that matches the driver I own. I got it without batt or charger for $2... guy says it just doesn't work but the light comes on. Hope an easy fix!

drill:
Dewalt 12v lith ion DCD710

4way:
P&C 1176 *looks around for Smoke...

Sockets:
Snappy
Truth
Plomb
Craftsman

Female Ratchet insert:
no makers marks

valve tool:
Marked V8

Not pictured:
Air gun with 3 foot nozzle

Food:
Tasty Street Tacos

RagTop, I always look forward to your posts in the hopes that you will include a food photo. Street Tacos look good!

Picked up my first Lista.

lista.jpg
lista2.jpg

I currently have Snap On a plenty for tool storage, a Russ Basset Fiche cabinet for hardware storage, and 16 of the infamous Radio Shack cabinets storing everything from red wine to LEDs (left there by Radio Shack) to carburetors.

When I Tetris this Lista into a spot, I'm going to evaluate the platform as perhaps being a platform to do all garage storage next time I move.

Of course the Lista came full, and of course it is one of the largest sizes.

RagTopTA:
That TRUTH socket is a first for me. I have never seen any socket in any era with branding or sizes or anything else stamped on the bottom of the base like that before. Is it the socket with the slanted knurling? Is it 1/2-inch drive?

Lugz, I want to say I’ve seen some large old pieces or specials by Snap On that were bottom stamped, but I can’t say for certain.

You did however cause me to go looking for an old Walden 3/4 drive that I knew was stamped on the bottom. The socket was covered in heavy rust when I found it on a basment floor at an estate sale probably well over a decade ago, and that’s how it stayed, parked in a drawer behind some other 3/4 stuff.

It’s currently soaking so I can get some clear pics soon. The bottom stamp turned out to be a surprise however. It’s more interesting than I remembered, though I may not have paid attention the first time around. Pics to come.

Glad to see someone else found a truth rope braid. Let me know if you can find anything on it. I looked and came up empty. Nice finds btw.

Looking for the following Plomb Pebbles Wrenches 3061, 3070,
thanks !! I was excited when I cleaned it up and found the stamping on the back side. I bet todd and Lugz will find out the scoop on there soon!!

RagTop, I always look forward to your posts in the hopes that you will include a food photo. Street Tacos look good!

ChrisM: i usually like the vintage cabinets cause of the LOOK, but usually cause i don't have to pay a fortune for them. that said if i could find a LISTA full of stuff like you just did I'd have to consider it cause looks like that seller was ORGANIZED so you can just set it in place and put it to work. just curious did you have to load and unload it with a fork lift cause OMG that looks heavy?

if you'd please post up more pictures of your lista and especially the drawer organization on the metal cabinet thread in vintage (even though it might not be vintage) I'd (we'd) appreciate it cause most of us need more ORGANIZATION IDEAS. here's the link:

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=305350

WELL DONE!!

ALL: I had a gal drop off her ex's red Lincoln welder and a Toro weedwacker for some old shelving i had that i didn't need so a win win and i handed her a few JACKSONS cause her mom just totaled her car. It was too dark and cold for pics so i'll get some today.

Love the DBEs, 406Rich! That Nickel Molybdenum wrench with the "X" is made by Bridgeport. Feel free to cross-post them to the DBE thread!

Not sure this counts. On my travels today, I spotted something in the road. Pulled up next to it and picked this up...

Not a huge score, but definitely a nice one.... Even if it’s a little beat up...

Clean up the handle with a file. The blade is still good.

I picked these up at a garage sale yesterday. I was actually surprised there was one this time of the year. The guy had a 2 1/2 gallon pail full of ratchets. His price was $5 each. Three 3/8" ratchets, no user marks and no clean-up required. I didn't have much time to look around for more stuff although I grabbed a roller stand too.

Snap On FHL 80
Snap On F748
Proto Challenger Canada

Our Northern Friend, you just scored about $140 (USD) or probably more worth of ratchets for $11.

That's definitely a YOU ****!

Lugz or anyone interested, i posted the Walden socket over here to keep from clogging up the GS thread.
Thanks. Saw it and I already commented there. Cool and noteworthy socket even if it's not the same thing as Rag's TRUTH socket.

BB, All:

I don't know if Don (d42jeep) is being cautious or modest or what, but three days ago he reported an estate sale find here including an unidentified trunk tool-kit with some King **** tools in it, in post #185, linked here. Two days ago he posted it in a King **** thread linked here, and yesterday it was identified as a late 70's Rolls-Royce kit that has been highly valued in complete and clean condition on the market. That's a SCORE!

I kind of wanted to keep the adjustable wrench, but it looks like the set has too much potential to contribute to my estate sale funds so it will be heading to eBay along with the British lenses, which seem to be rather valuable as well. Here they are cleaned up a bit.

Was helping an old man around the house for a bit, and he gave me these and other stuff...

Any info on if anything is worth keeping?

The ratcheting screwdriver was cool until I found it was broken. It only ratchets when you push in. I immediately tossed it. Tossed it into my tool box that is haha

Beemer,

I know you're more into older works of literature, but I just spotted this at the library. Based on the title, the tools, and the dustjacket summary, the saying "right up your alley" seems like an understatement. The protagonist lives above his own bike shop in a small town on Lake Superior in Wisconsin. I think the plot involves a strained father and son relationship, but the context couldn't be any more appropriate for you, with a convergence of two of your hobbies!

Oooo.. interesting. I actually love simple machines and books like that, people talking about their lives working with machines and engineering, are some of my favorites. I have been told by the wife not to buy anything like that as my birthday is in a few weeks, but after that, it is getting a look.

Chris, that Lista has the form factor I like best of the Lista's; wide not too deep and tall enough. but I want one with all shallow drawers with only two 4 inchers for "deep" ones...

You ***** to both Chris and Don! A $300 Lista is a major bargain, from what I've seen, and a Rolls Royce anything at estate sale prices is just ****** well proper!

Nice. You can't go wrong with free pipe and auto wrenches. Some photos of the wrenches all laying out may get some more replies.

Found this on CL last night. Decoded to drive an hour+30 for boxes of unknown provenance. Can anyone tell me exactly what I have? Price was right for the pair, but made for a late night.IMG_20190109_074805789.jpgIMG_20190109_074813518.jpegIMG_20190109_074845035.jpegIMG_20190109_074904068.jpeg

The first one seems like snap-on to me with those heavy casters.

The top box looks like the Williams logo in the bottom right hand area.

both of these are wild guesses with me talking out my backside.

Hit a local Habitat Restore near me again, pretty much cleaned out their SK tools. Got all this for $5! 2 SK spark-plug sockets, SK sockets and a SK Lectrolite wrench. Was Lectrolite a unique style of wrench or is that just what SK called all their wrenches?

I am in Rome, NY on business today, opened up Facebook Marketplace and found this rusty 1967 Craftsman RAS for $50. Talked the guy down to $40. These things are everywhere and are no brainers at these prices.4b994e538ae5d3cbd45876e34bfa6a5a.jpg

Actually purchased last year, but finished this year. I had it blasted and powder coated by a local guy who does my stuff on the cheap when he has other projects. I replaced the casters with new 2-1/2" rollers (I think) and polished up the hardware a bit. I bought it for $5 and put $25 into the coating and wheels. These are so handy for quick work on lawnmowers, etc.

top box is huot.

:+1: Without a doubt.

Absolutely a Huot. (I have 2 tops, and 2 bottoms)
The embossed “swoosh” on the front cover is a dead giveaway. Only Huot.
If you CAREFULLY remove the paint inside the oval of the swoosh, you will likely find the Huot decal. It may be paper, but the later boxes had a vinyl (ish) decal.
The early boxes had rounded handles on the drawers, which later (60’s???) became squared.
