"Found this at a trailer park yard sale.
I can’t make out the brand, there’s a extra insert in a bag marked Ken Tool.

Any ideas of brand?

Notice the warning? I wonder if I can leave socket on if I use a impact?"

ce05eae6773fa2af879e06aa2d89a547.jpg

CB - I wonder if the warning is because the socket can fly off when you whack something with the rubber end? Doesn't everyone take the socket off a ratchet when they hammer with it? I'm suprised it doesn't have the "wear safety glasses" warning too...

Looks like Outlaw "beat" me to it!

People use ratchets for hammers all the time, with a mod, that could have been a hammer that can be used for ratcheting! :see:

I guess it’s a good thing I picked up these ratchet adapters at a sale Thursday.
3689bb68c49eb73429aea54ef3fe6cd5.jpg

Took a little detour on the way to a job meeting for a estate sale that had a bunch of SO and CM in listing.
Found this little pouch for $15, had a 3/8” and a 1/4” SO rat adapter, a set of Proto 1/4” deep sockets , misc CM stuff.

Your SO 1/4" ratchet adapter looks WAY smaller than my Blackhawk version...

Is that a ratchet wrench with a hex/square adapter on it?

So I purchase at a estate sale what I thought was a screw thread gauge.

But when I compared to another screw thread gauge the numbers differ and the shape of the teeth differ.

Just curious does anyone know what this is used for ?

Thread gauge all right, but for Acme threads (I think) or some similar oddball. These are the thread types that are frequently used on vises.

Neat, never seen one quite like that. Looks like a Nupla handle.

Yeah, definitely a Nupla handle with the diamond Nupla logo, I can barely make out the Nupla name. Nupla does sell the handles separate so it is possible the manufacturer just used Nupla handles.

I think that’s it. After reading your post I tried it on my vise....and it fit

Thanks everyone for their input

CBAcres, the snap on ratchet adapter is cool. I bought one new in the 70s and it is still one of my favorite tools. Mine is 1/4” drive and I often use it on top of a diver handle with a “T” handle on top of it.

The wife wanted to hit an estate sale and some yard sales this morning, since we hadn't been in a while.

I'm glad she did. Got the Wilton vise for $5 and the metal bin organizer for $2; both from the estate sale.

Small haul today. I picked up a Plomb #36 5/16" offset screwdriver, a Wright MS-40 screwdriver socket, and a 1942 dated Wheeling jerry can - because you can never have enough discussion about jerry cans! :lol_hitti

Bill,
I like that Jeep can. I don’t have a Wheeling. The Plomb offset looks great.
After yesterday’s sparse finds, we hoped to do better today but there was still not too much to be found. The first sale was in Oakland. We picked up an unmarked socket set box and a carry tray along with some assorted tools. The coping saw is a PowrKraft, the DOE wrenches are Barcalo, the Phillips is a Flying V Vlchek and the stubby Phillips is a Dunlap.

The second sale was in Berkeley, close to home. The screwdrivers were Proto LA, Action, a Stanley stubby and a couple of unmarked drivers. The little DOE is an Indestro. I found the Beetle model for my Wife, who’s first car was a ‘55 Bug.

I'll send the next five members who WANT to talk jerricans but remain silent their choice of a vintage BeCu socket, pebble flare wrench, or Walden full polish DBE.

Still working out the details of figuring out who you are......:):)

Nice find this am, armstrong forge welded DOE. Anyone know if this was factory or individually done? Welded area clean and smooth, no hammer marks. Overlap is 1 3/8", the other end is 15/16". total length is 22.5".

I didn’t buy anything today. But I did a long slow crawl through Lancaster County PA. Saw a lot of agricultural and railway things. I looked long and hard for something heavy and 36” tall, for a grinder stand, but came up short.
I would love to have bought the Mossberg socket set, but missing a few sockets, $35 was too high. (There were Indestro sockets for $20, also too high.) Also loved the tire patch retail box. The PEXTO clamp-on base was impressively large, but I don’t know what it’s for. The last pic is the open cup of the PEXTO, which has a set screw in the side.

Mrs LS and I drove to Lititz a bit too early to get into a couple antiques stores. The had been a fire & ice festival last night, and some of the ice sculptures had survived yesterday’s fairly warm weather. Then we plunged south through *********** and Paradise. I pondered some belt-driven industrial equipment that was repurposed to display scented yarns and such. Then a mission to Eldreth Pottery to buy some salt-glazed mugs. Too Late! The old man retired and sold his business to Hart Road, which seems to put redware at the forefront. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn’t match my parents’ salt-glazed stuff. Plenty of stops along the way. Nice big steel Lyon worktable.

LS the PEXTO stand is for sheet metal forming tools generally for different edges. (Angle, beaded, etc, etc,,,) MANY heads could fit that stand.

:Twitch: on the Jerry cans... (Must resist...)

Visited my mom in Fort Worth for a couple of days and we hit a couple of estate sales each morning. Thursday, I scored the Stanley #3 plane, small drill press (?) vise, cash box (made by Rockaway Metal Prod Corp) and the Blackhawk tool box for $30. Friday, I bought the Jorgensen wooden clamp, 2 plastic milk crates and 2 boxes of Norton 40 grit 6x48 aluminum oxide sanding belts for $10.

The plane is in really good vintage condition but the tote has a break that will need to be repaired. I'll post the little vise in the appropriate thread for questions I have on it. Really like the Rockaway box and it's in great condition. There is a nickel sized dent on the right side and a small scratch on the bottom. Walked by the Blackhawk toolbox a couple of times. It was sitting at the end of a bench of stuff the estate sale was selling between that table and the closed garage door and facing the garage door. I'm not a Blackhawk guy per se but loved the graphics on the bold decal. I'll post on the vintage toolbox thread to get some questions answered on that or maybe it would be better to post it in the Blackhawk thread? I bought the sanding belts just thinking I could resell them and recoup a little on the out of pocket from Thu.

Putting this into perspective...you just paid 40% of the price of a vintage Wilton vise for a metal & plastic bin organizer? You MUST be crazy!!!!

Damn nice grab! Congrats!!!

Diamond Tool & Horseshoe Diamalloy 12" adjustable wrench, marked 'special thin-wide opening'. I believe this style was not made long.

Been three weeks since work slowed enough to go to sales. Best of the bunch was the Williams set, and the clauss scissors, very sharp

Let's see. Out of work, traveling for new job, new job, weather, and a handful of other things added up to no way to get out much lately. Was able to make 3 stops today and had a lot of fun. Sorry about the crummy picture. Found a box of assorted clamps with wood working, big C clamps, small heavy duty clamps, Craftsman oil can with a original $1.79 price tag on the bottom. Radio Shack power strip, miniature brass bar clamps, long screw starter, 2 Chinesium folding shovels for camping, a black fiberglass technicians case (case only) a 2D cell Maglite, and 4 boxes of low voltage light fixtures and assorted LV fittings, bulbs, wire and power supply that I did not take a picture of. Nice to be out and about again.

The brand is Nupla but I don't see it in their website. http://www.nuplacorp.com/

Yeah, definitely a Nupla handle with the diamond Nupla logo, I can barely make out the Nupla name. Nupla does sell the handles separate so it is possible the manufacturer just used Nupla handles.

Some kind of Draw Bar Hammer for a piece of machinery?

Similar idea here:

Thanks guys for the info, no I know what it's for.

CBAcres, the snap on ratchet adapter is cool. I bought one new in the 70s and it is still one of my favorite tools. Mine is 1/4” drive and I often use it on top of a diver handle with a “T” handle on top of it.

When I picked up the bag and looked, I just confirmed it was a USA tool, didn't even see it was SO until after I left. It was near frenzie n the garage and had to move fast to grab some others.:lol_hitti

Diamond Tool & Horseshoe Diamalloy 12" adjustable wrench, marked 'special thin-wide opening'. I believe this style was not made long.

I have a couple Diamond adjustables with the wide opening marking, but I don't think I've ever seen any also marked as thin. Seems pretty unusual.

Hey Stuart I know Ive seen you post some of yours before. I was trying to find out why these special Diamalloy wrenches seem to have different jaws than standard. Attached is a pic of a standard Diamalloy 12" adjustable, you can clearly see the hex vs. square throat.

I would like to know how wide a standard 12" Diamalloy adjustable opens. Anyone that has one care to measure?

Now this one is special.

I have a friend who had a brain aneurism pop. He survived, but has limited motor skills. He can still walk/talk/etc but is severely limited.

Anyway, he was a killer machinist. I needed something completed and handed it to him. No time frame.

Tonight, he was finished with the project and I hung out at his house. I’m getting ready to leave, and he says “hey I got something you might like. My kids already wiped my tools out, but I found this”.

He hands me this Carlyle 1-1/4. It’s the socket for the crank bolts on the mopars I work on. I know I just bought one from Oreillys, but this one is going into my main box, and the Oreillys one is getting put into my backup box....
