Nabbed these Kant-Twist clamps on Offer Up for a crisp 20.

A pair of 4.5", and a pair of 3".

They look like **** but they work!

Those Kant-Twist clamps for $5ea is a great deal. They’re expensive. They should clean up nicely on a fine wire wheel (experience talking). You will never have enough of them once you start using them (more experience talking).
Great find !

Three stops today. $15.30 bought Wards Master Quality hacksaw, most of the alphabet in punches, F.T.CO.IL-464711 (?) brake adjustment tool, Bonney 16mm Streamlined combo, Bonney CV 3/8dr T28 open-tooth rat w/ T29 plug, and an Eifel plierwrench & 10 jaws in pouch.

Seen but not purchased, some other items...

The small wood box (marked $13) was faintly stamped United Shoe Machinery Corp.

I've never seen that many Eifel plierwrench jaws anywhere! Cool find!

I picked up these Craftsman USA tools yesterday at an Estate Sale for $5. The sockets are both 1/4" Metric & SAE.

I got this Stanley Bailey #5 woodworking plane, other woodworking plane (No name) a F. **** Knife sharpener, Unknown other knife sharpener (no name) Wooden ruler, and a Henry Disston & Sons Hack Saw for $5 today at a yard Sale. Does anyone know the maker of the woodworking plane in the foreground and it's age? Thanks.

Loving those twist clamps! I've a couple of no-brand versions and they are sooooo useful.

Anyway pretty quiet this week apart from another lamp!
Lab bench lamp straight out of York University biology labs, with department label and even a (fairly) recent PAT test sticker [emoji38]

Otherwise I have a nice 1955 Westco oiling can in a bucket of degreaser. Pics later if I remember. 20190504_161527-COLLAGE.jpg

Reedonkulous! :shocking: I missed this yesterday, until BB pointed it out. I wonder if the pouch is original. I remember a complete set shown here on GJ somewhere that included a sellers' tips pamphlet. One of the tips was to wait on the side of the road and wait for someone to break down!! But I don't recall what the set came in, a pouch or box or what. Terrific find.

In selling news, I am up to 5 funny stories!

Looks like a Stanley No.48,with some modifications/customizing to me.

SWMBO and I tried our hands at an online auction again this week. However, I think we need to swear them off, as the prices aren't nearly as good as traditional estate sales. We only ended up winning two lots:

Three Ford wire wheels, two 19" (1930-31 Model A) and one 21" (1928-29 Model A).
$91.62 with all fees and taxes

bebef7826272c65251abd53d8d85ae26.jpg

Silver Beauty Model 8250 Series B Industrial Battery Charger, 50-amp charger & 250 amp starter, 6V & 12V
Box o' extension and bungee cords
$103.86 with all fees and taxes, but when I got there to pick up my lots, there were some items missing from this one. So, they gave me ten bucks back--$93.86

e0fd53b0920ca1804d68d64300ae5773.jpg

After picking up our items, we decided to hit a few yard sales on the way back home. We drove through a neighborhood yard sale and didn't find anything to buy, but I did pull two sections of wire shelving from a "Free" pile to try making one of those tool drawer tool racks.

A TOO produced a new light, TP holder and towel holder for the upstairs bathroom. A rusty tub of tools produced Armstrong Armalloy 11/16 box and 1-1/16" open end spud wrenches. $20

ba6589798b9fffbf38b5b34f95b30192.jpg

A moving sale turned out to be a family estate sale with "gotta move it all" pricing. We got all of the following for $30.

American Standard faucet
Glass-top pot
Casserole dish serving ring
Sears Model No. 6202-A binoculars
Watering can
Metal pouch
Craft cutting mat
Auto wire strippers
Three Craftsman screwdrivers
14 Craftsman metric and standard DOEs and DBEs
440-lb electric hoist--not working, but makes noises when I press the switch--was free, so not much of a gamble

028ea1b0fd6c27f53d4d89c56c05cff1.jpg

Last stop was the new ReStore that's been paydirt for me the last two times. We picked up a zip-up storage rack for $20 and an underslung sink for $5.

7ec4f00957e1abf367c7f121c6d1ea6a.jpg

As I was checking out a Bosch double oven with a $455 price tag, one of the workers walked by and said "Hey, you can have that oven for $25! It's been here as long as I've worked here and I want it out of here." It looked a little bigger than the double oven I already have for powder coating, so I let him talk me into bringing it home.

79e5ae7b838c78ba351a32ca0226ab53.jpg

Turns out it isn't any bigger than my existing double oven, so I'm hoping I can move along on Craigslist and make some more money back.

BMW, to access the piston for servicing, is it the set screw by the front of the barrel, or the two screws by the back? Not holding much air right now. Edit: Nevermind, I found a guide where someone stripped the whole thing down. Thanks.

Missed out on one a few months ago, and kept beating myself up over it. This was a 35min trip each way, with a 2hr total window to shop, so kept debating. Glad I went. Guy running the sale said that 2min after I put it on the hold table, another person came asking him about if it had sold.

Cruzan, I have only done a seal replacement on one of the rifles, and it was challenging to say the least! There is a special tool you can get to do the install, and I highly recommend it.

Went to half a dozen sales today, drive by another 4 that weren't worth getting out at and the ReStore.

Picked up a Russell Jennings auger bit set in a canvas roll (1 bit is Irwin and the adjustable bit is Pexto), rings can of Napa Balkamp belt dressing and a Cal Van test light for $25.

The other sales had very few tools or were way overpriced.

Picked up a couple of 3 foot long pieces of 4 x 4 and a glued up 6 x 6, a new hardwood threshold, bag of foam pipe insulation and a Vermont American drill bit set at the ReStore for $10.89. The tool section was really picked over.fcc69bbb09eadbecf1b5a042e7f20bab.jpg63464fa1a94a441b7504fb3a177bb1a5.jpgaa799e4facf97b99fc58b3011bedb68b.jpg1f7e06e723021b4ddde2b71f705ec23d.jpgebc7e72004ce795a09bec988ec887c17.jpgf2c52f1f2f6fbbd6ef0b1b2ae03b3988.jpg

No tools for me!.. today was Family Day! Took the wife & kid to several subdivision sales and bought a truck full of toys and clothes for the grandson. I did manage to get a handful of music CDs to hopefully expand my music appreciation; Miles Davs, Herbie Hancock, Baby Face, The Smithereens, Black Crows and a Nelly CD

Oh, forgot to add I picked up a Stanley thermos! Really nice one, green with the handle, still in its original box for$5.

I picked up an old Kennedy tool box full of stuff at a garage sale on my way to work today. It’s not the style of stuff I usually collect, but for $15, what the heck. Here’s a few overview pictures.

Here’s some of the highlights. Billings and Spenser and Williams DOE’s, a Blackhawk spinner, a Kilborn and Bishop adjustable and a Pierce Arrow wrench.

Thanks! I looked online, these are priced between $28 and 35/ea new.
We have every size at work, they are handy for certain things. Apparently welders love them. I used to have a pair of 6" and like a dummy, sold them.

I didn't realize til I was looking for prices, that the "Kant" in the name is from cantilever. These are called cantilever clamps, learn something new every day.

Three bucks hopefully well spent. The bell systems push drill was in great shape, most seem a rusty mess

I saw The Smithereens back in '89. Great band and a great show. Miles is always good too.

Just an FYI for the Massachusetts/ Southern NH guys, there is the New Hampshire Power Of The Past Show at the Little Red Schoolhouse in Dunstable,MA tomorrow at daybreak. Will be going until 3PM or so. Lots of tools, antiques, farm equipment and the like for sale and on display. I will be setup there with my big trailer showing my tractors and chainsaw collection, and of course looking for bargains!

So there was a Townwide Garage Sale in my town today which turned out to be pretty much a waste of effort - except for 1 stop.

A guy around the corner from me was having a tool sale and he had lots of NOS tools - in unopened packaging. I'm talking Channellock pliers in the plastic hanging sleeve it was sold in, Channellock Lineman's pliers in the carded wrap, Vise Grip's new in box . . .

I bought a NIB Stanley 75 plane for $10.00 - not sure what I'm going to do with it but never the less . . .

It's also bulk pickup a few towns over and I found a cool little something - spotted on the other side of a 4 lane road while passing by at 45 MPH. It a really rough Johnson & Johnson medical box that was painted most white some time ago. The drawers are solid but full of rusty junk - the bottom drawer was tough to get out. The inside shows the original blue . . .

I want to clean up the inside of the drawers but I am not sure what I want to do with the outside. I can give it a good cleaning and clear it - sort of like a rat rod - or repaint everything but the back.

Cheers

Jim

The back is untouched and pretty cool.

Cheers

Jim

My trusty copilot took the day off today so I was on my own. It was half price day on a sale I missed yesterday so I stopped by but it was totally picked over although I found a Plomb screwdriver that had been overlooked. The second sale was a tool reseller that Shiftless alerted me to and accordingly his prices were high on most item although I found a few bargains. The last two were family sales but still worthwhile, each with a few gems. Here are the tools in order of the four sales. The next shots are the Thorsen partial sets cleaned up followed by the postwar 1/4” drive S-K tools. The last shot is the Craftsman Crown 1/4” drive box cleaned and filled with tools.

PS. Catfishdan ***** on that early Kennedy haul!

Morning All!
Before I get boxed in by road closures for the Tour De Yorkshire I decided I'd best get out and see what was on at the flea market.

Group Shot, <£25 spent:

DSC_1435.jpg

>Low Left: Flan Pan, 3 x New Cork pan mats, tack hammer handle and cold chisel £1.20
>Low Right: 4 plants and 2 small earthen ware pots £2.40
>Top Left: Aluminium plant pot £0.50p, 2x Ply Folders £1, Pine Stool £5

Blue Point cantilever toolbox with liners £8. A little surface rust on the bottom but will clean up nicely!
I've been wanting a decent toolbox for lugging tools to friends houses/cars, but didn't expect to buy Blue Point.

Thrown in with the Toolbox for free was this Precision Level. Starrett better watch their backs :lol_hitti
Honestly I just liked the box graphics and it is un-used if very crudely made, but for free its fun!

I thought the Toolbox was my deal of the day until I spotted these...
DSC_1442.jpg

These are "Tailors cloth/garment clamps"
DSC_1440.jpg

Basically a wide nosed spring release F-Clamp that can be placed upight on a table to hold cloth straight/flat/tensioned as it is cut, especially when cutting multiple layers at a time. (think cutting out multiple shirt fronts at the same time).
My mother is a (retired) tailor so I remember her having these when I was growing up, great for holding paper down when finger painting :bounce:
All aluminium and apart from a bit of white oxide in good condition.
All 8 for £3

You can still buy these... Amazon but not at a price I'd pay!

New Jersey boys. Very underrated. Which album? It's unfortunate that they are probably best known for the song "Girl Like You" from their third album. Their first album, which had "Wall of Sleep" and "Blood and Roses" on it, is a cult classic. Pat DiNizio passed away a few years ago.

...and a Pierce Arrow wrench.
Good snag.

Picked up this 1980's Craftsman model 706.652571 toolbox for $30. Seemed like a decent price. It is the filthiest tool box I have ever seen. It was soaked with oil and had a used oil filter sitting upside down in the lid. :shocking: Well preserved though. Aside from a few stains and scratches, and the lock is missing it is in perfect condition.

It's got a big red 11 on it.

This had to help keep down the rust, lol!

It did!! The oil was drained down through the drawers. It almost looked like they shoved it under the truck and drained the oil inside the lid. Had to set it on a tarp to get it home.

I didn’t find much at my Sunday flea market, but I only spent 3 bucks. I picked up a Proto combo and ignition pliers and a cool Cornwall ratchet. It’s a 3/8” drive in a 1/4” handle.

Catfish, I have that same ratchet (and paid quite a bit more) and it has become my go to.

Was at a yard sale on Friday and came across two pairs of cast iron items that seller said were used in drilling wells.

Cleaned them up and three were marked with NSCO, while other was with an emblem marker which couldn't read.

Cleaned them all up and one pair is like a Transformer, as you can fold them all up and lock into place, which creates a 2-1/2 inch hole.

Thought I'd post them in order to get information on them.

Mike
