Walked into my local HD this morning and found a 9.0 M18 battery for $100. That’s better than the craigslist prices I’ve seen for these...

When I look this up in the HD app it shows $199. Good deal at $100

Just curious do any of the pros know why HD stock items at the very top that are penny instead of getting rid the second they drop??? Space is limited so it would be to their advantage to throw out/send back to vendor/ donate etc etc... but instead ALL or most HD's keep them stored at very top shelf and eventually get rid of them... any info?

Thanks

That is one way they became penny. They weren't properly downstocked, and the item was removed from the system, but some were left. So those became a penny. The store doesn't want to do that, as it lowers their margin of profit on sales.

I know it is not clearance, but the 200 piece socket only set is back in stock at stores at $99, which is still a pretty good deal if you don't really have a comprehensive set yet.

2manytools... firstly want to thank you for taking the time and helping to explain.

This is the main issue and I feel there must be someone here that knows the answer but not sure why it's a big deal. I'll try and explain my question better I hope.

Ive noticed all HD dont throw out/return to vendor or donate the item(s) when they are pulled...instead they put them way way at top or somewhere else and eventually get rid.why do they "HOLD" them uptop...instead of getting rid immediately???

A few of the local stores, build pallets of the stuff, and when I notice its gone, the local resale warehouse place suddenly has pallets of new HD returns for sale.

The MET team is supposed to pull them but some MET teams are better than others, sometimes things get lost, and sometimes things are intentionally hidden away.

Several years ago the pancake Dewalt compressors dropped to $40. A local store showed like 8 of them. My step dad needed one so we drove over there and hunted for a while, but no luck. Asked a couple of folks and they pointed us to the compressor aisle. Asked another guy and he begrudgingly answer that he thought he knew where they were. They were in lumber at the top of the overhead. He pulled down the pallet and I grabbed one, but should have bought them all. I enjoy the hunt when it is for myself or family, but generally don’t find the hassle of reselling worth the trouble.

While I’ve had some luck at my Lowes here, my HD *rarely* produces the deals posted in this thread. They apparently don’t have *any* Fluke products in this store either.
They DO keep a Clearance shelf area on a permanent basis though and today these caught my eye.

A good back-up set, or if you need a traveling set. Metric and SAE, standard and deep sockets, 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". Lifetime warranty at the store, and there are plenty of those around.

Here's mine, bought today. No-more schlepping sockets from one house to the other.

I just grabbed on of these. This is my second one and these are very useful for all sorts of projects.

Yes sir me too will be my 3rd one use them to shelf my toolboxes on my workbenches. Sort of a hillbilly hutch leaves more room on actual bench.

Me too. As we know they have the past few yrs but this yr not all of my local HDs have stocked up on the Ridgids or the Toughsystem like they did with Packouts. Well one of them did last week but the others still have not. Unless they just haven't unloaded them yet.

I have a feeling the Toughsystem won't be on sale this yr since the 2.0 is coming out next yr. Last week all my local HDs no longer show any stock online even though they do actually have some but they did show in stock the week prior. I was going back & forth between the Ridgid & Toughsystem so I've been keeping an eye out.

I couldn't wait anymore so I just bought the Ridgid last week but only the bottom roller & large box. I didn't need the top small box but if it does go on sale for BF I'll just buy it again, keep the small box & return with my first receipt.

Beware getting the platforms down! I am currently recovering from a severe concussion, and haven't been to a store in over a month. I only went into HD because I returned an item pre-concussion, with a receipt, and wasn't given the correct amount for the return. Item was the Echo blower, paid $219, was given back $199. So check your receipts when you return! I went to grab a platform, and BAM!!! They all flew forward, nearly hitting me in the head. Not what I needed for my neck and back either, to be dodging something flying at me.

LOL. I'd like to see what the surveillance video looks like. My first initial is a D, and they used to use Homer D Poe on a lot of promotional stuff, I've been able to score a few things.

That's an awesome move you got there. Much better than a slip and fall.

My personal lawyer specializes in this type of stuff, give him a call
