Happy New Year, everyone!

Does anyone have a goal for their 2020 tool collection? Let's hear about it!

My plan for this year is to complete a Snap-On Ferret set and maybe a Blackhawk set. 20200101_120608.jpegScreenshot_20200101-220707_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20200101-220621_Chrome.jpg

Mine will be and has been for the last 2 years to finish my Plomb Pebble Grand Slam (combo, DBE, DOE, and flare) along with finishing out my 1940s smooth face sets.
Both I only need 1 stinkin wrench to finish and both have eluded me for years.

Hit me up with what you need. I am doing some early spring cleaning and have a big tub of vintage snap on.

Looking for the following Plomb Pebbles Wrench 3061

My initial goal is to get this Dayton box stack home, after buying it sight unseen 4 hours drive away. Hopefully having it will slow down my all consuming passion for seeking out deals, and compel me to thin out all my "lesser" box accumulation.

Id like to snap up all the future collectables from HF......unbelievable.

I'd like to find an old Unisaw in good shape. Gotta find the money first though...

2020 will be the year I finally complete my collection of Craftsman RHFT ratchets. I think all I'm missing is the 1/2" long flex head. In 2019 I learned of the 3/8" and 1/2" RHFT torque wrenches, which I now have.

I hope to finish off putting together a Gray Engineers set, like the one Dad bought after the war. But I'm thinking it may take some years.

Thanks!! I'm hopefully optimistic that that it will cure me from being on tilt for having missed out on a Gray/Red Craftsman stack that I was pretty "**** hurt" about, when they guy sold it out from under me.

I am trying to finish a DOE Bonney board with outline profile wrenches that is stumping me that I got from UncleDave. One thing of note is the tappet wrenches. The board has them at I believe 9 1/2 inches like the 1967 catalogue, but most that are out there are shorter like previous catalogues from the Bonaloy era.

My goal for 2020 is to get rid of enough excess tools to be able to walk into my garage. Unfortunately, going to all these sales seems to be contributing to the problem.

I have about 4 Blackhawk sets that I need to complete.
I'm still chasing the center section of my Alemite service bench.
I still "need" a Sinclair HC 42 inch porcelain sign.
I really want another late 40s/early 50s Snap on stack to replace my late 60s Proto stack.

Maybe I should stop here. If Mrs. Horsey discovers my plans, I could be writing my own death warrant.

Well, I have narrowed down my goal. I am going to try my darndest to complete a No. 84 Ferret set with 38 pieces and box. Or maybe I will start small with the No. 85 set. [emoji848]

I also have two Blackhawk sockets: D20 5/8" and D28 7/8"

Anyone have any info about these sockets? I can't find any catalogues or anything for them to see what they belong to. Screenshot_20200104-105340_Chrome.jpg20200102_212233.jpeg20200102_211403.jpg

Just drove it around in May of 2018 after moving 413 toolboxes. Okay, maybe a slight exaggeration. Note the custom tow rope from Lugz!

This one? The 8 point sockets are not easy to find, but the rest is doable.

I'm looking forward to maybe get a few more American made tools, the exchange rate has been awful last year but now the £ is worth more against the $ it may be more economic.
I don't have opportunity to shop in yard sales or flea markets so it's normally more economic for me to buy a complete set or parts of one from 2 or 3 vendors on eBay.
With shipping costs and import duty it's uneconomic to try and buy many low value items. I like American made stuff. This side of the 'pond' that often means ex WW2 era and although I have some of that and honour the memories I don't actively seek it because of the mental and trauma associations, we live with plenty of reminders around us..!
Anyone want to get rid of a 1920's Blackhawk set or similar?!
Not 'vintage' but i did wonder if Snap On will do something worthwhile for a special 100th anniversary, but i expect it's likely to be over priced rubbish made in china.

My tool goal is to find an old abandoned building that turns out to be an abandoned Sears and Roebuck store that closed down around 1936 or so and is full of NOS tools and machines. I try to keep my expectations simple.

That's interesting. I haven't seen my local van guy recently but he said he would look out for anniversary stuff for me.
Sometimes we don't get the same special edition stuff here as in America, they do that 'big company policy' line about starting in England in 1965 or something like that so a few years ago we get a '50th anniversary special screwdriver'!

This year I need to decide what direction I am going in with all this collecting. Is there a theme? Do I really need all this? Etc.

The wife seems to find it all vaguely amusing, but that could end at any point.

The end for me is nigh.....The wife figured out that wrenches make better projectiles than dinner plates.

Less impulse. Focus on specifics rather than trying to be too broad . I learned this long ago collecting antique pottery and glass. Just getting a handle on it with the vintage tools.
