Mostly rained out this weekend but did find one covered table at a local flea with a few items worth rescuing. Got most of a 1/2 drive set of SK Waynes, a 7/16 placeholder, a Williams 1/2 female to 3/4 male adapter, and my first pebble!

Seller wanted $3 per socket and $10 for large wrenches, gave a total of $40... hemmed and hawed a bit while I stood there looking speechless. She said “naw, how about $28?” (Weird, random number). I offered $15 and she took it before I’d finished speaking... guess she was getting cold!

Not a steal but I’ll take it.

The 1240 was my first Plomb pebble too. Found it at a junk store for $2. That started the obsession. Several years (and a few dollars) later I had assembled the complete "extended set" of Plomb pebble combination wrenches (from the 5/16" 1210 up to the 1 7/16" 1246). You've been warned, though...it is a slippery slope!

I hit two estate sales today, spending a total of $21:

The handful of sockets, SpeedMaster and one Plomb, along with the set of Dunlap ignition wrenches cost me a whole $2 at the first sale, where I passed on an interesting MAC tool chest, upper and lower were priced at a reasonable $35, and while they were interesting, way to rusty for my taste.

The second sale was a cleanout and held in a warehouse offsite, which I usually pass on, but the pics looked interesting. SK, Penens, Plomb and a Craftsman RHFT rachets, a machine lamp, hermaphrodite calipers, along with Snap-on and Wright extensions. I might go back on half-price day, as they had a lot of wrenches, but they were priced the same as the ratchets. :shocking:

My thoughts go out to all the people fighting the freezing weather. I have no idea how you do it.

I saw my first icicle hanging off a scaffold I was going to tear down in a refinery south of Houston, early 80's.

So we ended moving back to the Tampa Bay area. See our local weather. (to say nothing of our sports teams)

Brian, check for markings on the bottom of the case. It may be a Pillard? :dunno:

The pebble expedition can be difficult. The Double Open Ends are killer!

4 stops today but only one produced.

Snagged a freewheeling SK 42470 and an early set of Knipex A01 external snap-ring pliers for a grand total of $3

Best regards,
John

That's a beaut! Great snag!

Best regards,
John

Damn !! SK made the nicest boxes! And you got a big one, very nice !

Brian

Thank you, guys.

Quite a bit of stuff inside. The S-K wrench set and some of the Craftsman wrenches and sockets are like new.

Some Irwin screwdrivers and a red Kraueter driver and punch.

S-K punch and chisel set is not marked S-K, but made in France. Looks correct for the pouch though. Hmmm???

Millers Falls saw. Partial Case knife.

GM Co type 1/4 ratchet and sockets.

I think there is something wrong with that box. No dents, no rust, no excess paint? That’s all I see here. Yours Must be a fake.

What got my attention in there was the Herbrand flip socket with extension. I have the exact set in Bonney.

The little guy had a Craftsman extension in it as well. I just spent a couple minutes pulling and pulling. Finally stopped and thought....could it be?

It is. I’ve never seen one in person. Craftsman locking extension from back in the day.

As usual, the fun didn’t stop with the first purchase. I walked around and found some more goodies.

- a trio of Snap On ratchets. Made in Canada 3/8 Ferret, Made in Canada 1/4 fat handle, and 3/8 USA stubby. Not the prettiest, and they didn’t exactly come cheap, but I’d been wanting to find the Canada models, so I was happy. :)

-HK Porter impact driver, Vlcheck auto wrench, (Can’t tell) sq. L handle wrench, Tomahawk brand hex socket kit, Apex wood handle magnetic bit driver, Herbrand wood stubby,Imperial reefer wrench, Indestro ratchet (needs work), odd Hinckley Myers steering wheel puller, Millers Falls (Proto) combo wrench, Proto metric doe, another Proto Bell system offset wrench that I must have missed last time,

-sockets are an old Cornwell, some PowrKraft and Mac, and three odd 1/2” drive that only have size markings but look somewhat like the SR/Plomb stuff. Another mystery.

Stopped at a little garage sale on my way somewhere and grabbed this little umco tackle box full of stuff. Most of it was garbage, but there was a handful of keepers and it only cost me 3 dollars. A plomb pebble combo, some Walden ignition wrenches, a few snap on 1/4” sockets, a neat old lock with key and some other stuff.

So, my wife is out of town for the weekend. Which means I am unsupervised and can bring all sorts of goodies into the house without being seen. Which of course means that I saw nothing of the sort while out today. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

Craftsman universal case, Dunlap ignition box, sash window lock, PS&W sheet metal gauge, Plomb feeler gauge, 2nd type 216 (can wrench), sockets (Bonney, New Britain, Proto) T&D screwdriver, tacks, replacement white tape, Proto ratchet, Plomb LA T-handle.
This is from one used tool shop, one estate sale, and a Restore. I hit one other estate sale but nothing there to get excited about with the exception of a biscuit joiner exactly like the one I picked up a few weeks ago, for 2/3's the price... Oh, well. But, I did pick up a complete set of Dunlap ignition wrenches yesterday. So, I got that going for me. Which is nice.

Well San Antonio is thawing out and there was finally a sale with tools.

Picked up a very mixed assortment of mostly 1/4" items.
Starting at the upper left:
- Walden 3150 Ratchet
- Partial Dayton set--I know nothing about these
- Partial Blackhawk set, 1523 Spinner, 1525 5" Ext, 1521 Obstruction Offset Handle
- No Name Sliding T and Cross Bar--may be Blackhawk
- Two No Name 6" Exts
- S-K 6" & 2" Exts
- Two 3" Exts, Proto Challenger & Indestro Super
- Four Cornwell sockets
- Williams M-42 Hinge Handle
- Snap-on 3/8dr 1/2" Swivel
- Wizard & MAC sockets
- Three CM sockets
- Most of a Tru-Test socket set--still researching this
- Blue Point 324 Feeler Gauge--love the font on the blades
- Very partial P&C Socket Set--checking the catalogs for this one
- Three 3/8dr P&C sockets

$20 for the lot.

February has been a good month! I picked up another Proto rolling chest from the post office, but this one came with a 1983 Waterloo top chest. The total price for both $180. I sold the Proto and effectively got the Waterloo for free.

Today I found a little Duro Chrome box that caught my eye for $7.50 There was some newer Craftsman stuff, an underline Craftsman 1/2 socket, a Snap On swivel socket, a bonney adapter, an old Proto socket, a set of 1/4" sockets, extension and breaker bar.

Nice score guys!

 for all the 1/4”.

57- nice find there, even drive plugs too.

Old Radar - that particular Dayton set is based off of Bonney. Very nice find. That Blackhawk too, great find! Quite the haul.

I found a wee bit of plomby stuff at the flea market this morning.
A punch, a 3021 doe, a proto 4” adjustable, and the top of a proto puller. I’m trying to stay focused lately.

Those are some nice finds Dan. That Proto puller is a really handy size, I love mine. But I think they changed the forcing screw thread halfway through production, so something to watch out for.

Researching my finds from yesterday I found my P&C 1/4" set in their 1948 catalog, but not the 1939 edition. This is post-Plomb acquisition of P&C and the contents of the 0200-A set match up perfectly with the Plomb 4700A set in the 1939 Plomb catalog (including the part number for the case).

I had thought the piece in the upper section of pic #2 could be a 1-1/2" extension but that doesn't appear anywhere in the catalog.

I'm going to shoot for completing the 0200-C set which includes the ratchet. Currently I have only sockets 0207, 0208-S, 0209, 0211 & 0212. The hunt is on!!

The 1/4” D-I sockets, breaker bar and possibly the extension are wartime and original to the box.

Man, I'm really wishing I'd been paying attention to this thread before cleaning out my Dad's basement last year. I came across a small SK box, filled with random junk (not SK tools). Not knowing that SK was anything worth keeping, I'm not sure if I kept it (I have a few boxes of stuff in storage). I may have found the sockets in another pile, not sure if I kept those, either.

I think these were my Grandfather's, as my Dad was a Craftsman guy (and generally took better care of his tools). I didn't throw anything Craftsman away.

OR, that little extension looking thing is probably a refrigeration socket of some sort. Hard to tell without seeing the other end. Plomb/Proto/P&C did not offer a set I am aware of, but Bonney, Snap-on, Indestro/Duro/ and others did. If it is a square end, and not necessarily 1/4" it is for a valve nut.

Thanks beemer! It's a 1/4" square on both ends. Male end is 5/16" long with no ball catch and female end is 7/16" deep. The female end is rotated ~15 degrees clockwise from the male. Overall length is 1-1/2".

Hit my first sale of the year. Not a whole lot in the way of tools, but did find find this Dunlap vise and these unusual looking pliers, marked from Portugal, but nothing else. Set me back $5 for both...

OR and Redvise, nice finds!!

3bay heard there was a pandemic and his response was..."Pandemic? I don't need no stinkin pandemic!" And he went out and has been killing in 2021! Way to go 3bay!!!

Our host bmw is always killin' it up there in the great PNW! Good stuff!

Here in Central Texas it's like Outlaw said...not much of interest and what little is showing up isn't worth the risk.
