BMW, even (especially???) on vacation, YOU ****!!!

I met a lot of nice people buying the tools, but I also met a lot of strange people including scammers. At this point I do not assume that the tools is bought till it is physically in my car or in my house

Agree, 100% on all points.

Estate sale today, spent too much money LOL, mostly on the 150 Craftsman drill press which was $150. It's nice and clean and no "arc of shame". Will add better descriptions later.

Great score! Prices on those have been crazy (high) this year.

Thanks!

Here it is after clean-up - along with some of the wrenches from the same haul. See Millers Falls, DOE, Schollhorn, and Wakefield threads for more.

Today's small haul: $5

New tube of Shoe Goo--already popped it and repaired two shoes!

Lakeside Spintite No.7525 5/16 spinner. May have been a Montgomery Wards product produced by Utica. Anyone have any info??

Indestro 1/2" & 1/4" Hex set. 1958 and early '70 catalogs have this set as a "Wall Klip" enabling it to be fastened to a wall. 1935 catalog does not have a 1/2" & 1/4" set depicted but has my style of case for smaller sets. I theorize that somewhere between the late 30s and mid-50s, Indestro added the 1/2" & 1/4" combination set that I have and by the mid-50s moved to the Wall Klip case and discontinued this one. Comments?

Holroyd and JM King both made threadplates in Waterford NY.

I’m chuckling, I just helped a buddy buy 10 or more bigger ones at auction, for $2, plus shipping, which may be a bear.

Thanks. I think I can make out King now that I know what to look for.
We braved our first estate sale in months yesterday. We went for the last hour to avoid any lines. Our temperatures were taken and masks were required which I was happy to see. I passed on three green Jeep cans and a vintage OD folding Ames shovel. Here are the few items we brought home.

I got this Greenlee conduit punch set at a garage sale - $20. Everything was in a tool box and it looked like it was all covered in mud. An hours soak in kerosene and it was shining like, well it wasn't as dirty anymore. Sizes 3/4" thru 3-1/2" plus all the drive bolts and bearings.

Major suckage on that greenlee set.
As someone who in another life paid over $20. for a single punch size, I know you did very well.

They finally had an estate sale in my area that had more than a couple of tools that I liked. 20 tools for less than $10--my kind of prices, too!

- I always pick up these plumber wire brushes--great for cleaning sockets.
- No-name ratcheting screwdriver--smooth operation
- H. Boker needle nose pliers
- Small pair of very pointy pliers--Renard on one side, HR logo on the other Germany on the inside handle
- L.S. Starrett Pocket Scriber--had a hard life--looks more like a punch now
- 1/4" ell and a couple of hex sockets to supplement my Indestro set from yesterday
- Stanley #2P and two Yankee flat bits
- 3/8dr Husky CB 41G (?) it has 106 on the reverse. I don't normally pick up Husky, but this one just called to me. Only 7" but has some serious heft to it.
- No-name 1/2" Hex ell & ratchet. I though the rat might be switched for the Indestro that is broken from yesterday, but not the same shape
- S-K c-12 that I need to add to my S-K combo roll but it's a Lectrolite so will be a temp only
- Barcalo with geometric panels--only my second find of this style
- Trimont Mfg. Co. 6" pipe wrench--not the usual Trimo branding--maybe older?
- J.P. Danielson 6" adjustable
- Craftsman Circle-B (Wilde Mfg) 4507 Side Cutting Pliers
- Western Auto ChromeXQuality (Herbrand Mfg) 8" battery pliers

Your post reminds me. I've always wondered what the thinking is behind placing a single box end at the end of an adjustable, Crescent style wrench? Anyone know?

After a lot of "dry" times got a little more today on the way to grocery shopping: a pretty well picked up sale, but found some tools between random Taiwan and laying on the floor

Elora German Wrenches 27mm (one is bent, not sure how to straighten it yet as I am afraid to damage chrome)
Mercedes Benz Dowidat 8-10mm DOE
Hazet 8-10mm DOE
PLVMB 1218 combination wrench (have some hope that it's just rust dust on top)
Dunlop cutters
14mm Japanese socket (forgot if it has a brand on it)
Quench tray (looks like my Craftsman one - will have to check once it's clean)
Most will clean up well...

$2

You guys are doing outstanding! Still pretty slow here. nothing local last W/E. I did get an AGM stove tank I'd been looking for from the Coleman group. in process to refurb that.

Today, 3 "real" sales and several drive by's and off.

First two were estate sale clean-outs (first was to move onto a Motorhome) both were "motivated". (No "pros")

$5 Ryobi impact bits, Zippo lighter in a belt case, SO "S" wrench 13-14 MM, 4" grinding disk
$1 qt paint thinner, 2 long torx (one is Wera), Proto 242 WP pliers.

Free, "You saved my records telling me to get them out of the sun, so call it even!" - Handy Andy toy wrench, Tire depth gauge, Xacto with a guard.

This morning's flea haul (Lugz 2021_20). Herbrand speeder, Plomb rat, Duro hinge handle, Schollhorn pliers (vise type, I think, and missing a piece), a handful of DOEs (ALLIED ITALY Beta-Auto, wartime Circle-DI, FEED MILL, and Wakefield), and a Millers Falls angle bit drill.

Nice find on the female Plomb rat!

Local online auction finds from last Wednesday.

Western tool&vise cart.

That vise cart is sweet. I wouldn’t mind finding one. Did you have to go to battle over that?

Yea pretty much, it was online only and some formidable collectors hit/bid at me 36 times. I respect the competition and was lucky to prevail.

Morning flea haul. Things have quieted down out there. Less snow birds and less vendors. One good thing, I went through in less time and still found a few treasures. The sun was unforgiving and then termites began swarming! A sure sign it was time to split.

Found a not so pretty but working condition Blackhawk Freewheeling ratchet for $1!

Some unusual stuff today. Other finds include: Williams “Special” stamped 1/2” offset box wrench, Collins claw hammer marked Legitimus and Hartford, Billmont Guthard ratchet, infamous G&G 3/8” ratchet by Wright, an International Harvester wrench with a hook end, Mac locking adjustable wrench, Bridgeport Hardware short dbe, a Klein & Sons hammer head, Wards Lakeside screwdriver and Craftsman Vanadium Blue flat head.

Sockets included two old Walden short pancake stack sockets, a New Britain made knurl ring unmarked that is factory deformed, a Snap On, Wright, a Proto or Plomb (rusty), Craftsman knurl band extension, some Westline, and some unmarked 1/4” indestro production.

Darn. Some my old auction tactics would not have worked.

1.Standing right in front of the item to bid, or

2. just as the auctioneer begins the bidding walk away acting disinterested and then throw a fly by. Everyone’s like wtf who just bid.

Sometimes I have bad luck.....

This picture was posted by a lady friend from church after I went to bed last night. These were included in her yard sale this morning. I didn't find out about it until after lunch. She NEVER has this kind of stuff in her sales. Needless to say it sold very early.

There is an old guy’s garage band that occasionally practices around the corner from our house. Musical talent isn’t their strong suit but they are extremely loud! We decided to get out of the house so we hit an estate sale that I decided didn’t look promising this morning. It was about to close when we arrived but the seller opened the garage door for us. I spotted a vise bolted to the workbench and inquired about the price. It was extremely reasonable and the seller helped with the unbolting. There were a few more things worth grabbing since they were practically giving everything away! Besides the vise, there were a couple of Monkey Wards planes, a B&C wall hanger adjustable, a Ford auto wrench, a few hammers and a functional 4 amp 6/12 volt charger.

We had a frequent flyer open up today, thin pickings for tools, but first thing I saw was the saw with the tilted blade, a usual sign of age. Buddy picked up one from pre 1917, mine is a bit later. It’s has the usual coast side rust, so some scraping and sharpening in my future. The saw is a 10” and so is the Danielson pipe wrench, which only had a few flecks of rust, and pipe dope in the jaws. The end nippers are cheap foreign product, nothing exciting. The pliers are marked Drop Forged, and 14. The can of alcohol is a gamble, figure it’s worth it for cleaning, if it’s not got too much water in it.. GF also got some sewing goodies.

Then off to the hardware store, but didn’t find any decent rubber sheet to make vise finger protectors, so of course the Reed bit me today, out of spite I assume.
