Took a few days off with the intent of hitting some sales...Thursday there weren't many sales listed so I ran by a couple. Just now realizing that I didn't take pics of the one productive garage sale, I'll add those later. Spent a fair bit of time hitting antique shops as well but eventually realized that there weren't any deals to be had. Oh well, I had a line in the water on a tool box from Offerup and it paid off. Got this SK top chest for $25. Had a bunch of junk in it but also a little ratchet...pretty sure that will pay for the box although it needs a new detent and I'm not sure how feasible or expensive that is.
Next day I went to my most anticipated sale, the pics looked pretty promising. I got there a half hour or so after opening and so I don't think the sale was picked over, but I couldn't find anything I wanted. The six+ tool chests in the garage were full of the latest from Home Depot and Lowes. I couldn't find a single old wrench, and ultimately left empty handed. Made the decision to drive a while and went about an hour south where I found my sort of place. Picked these up: From the top, a very rusty set of dividers, Duro Chrome 2016 (not circle x though), unmarked perfect handle screwdriver, Bonney combo, Plomb 3/8 rat, small P&C pipe wrench, couple of Ford marked wrenches, and some old garden shears plus a brass nozzle. $20 for this bunch.
I was pretty happy about the Plomb rat and Duro wrench, and I made the decision to venture even further afield, about an hour and a half south of where I live. Got all the way down to a promising looking tool sale to find the place abandoned. I peeked in the driveway and there was a woman in there, I asked about the sale and she was like "Oh, we're not doing that today, I took the signs down". What about the Craiglist post? "I told my husband to take that down!". Well, he didn't. And it cost me about 3 hours and quite a bit of gas money. Ugh. Spent the rest of the afternoon sitting in traffic to get home.
Went out again today after watching my boys play soccer this morning. First stop was an estate sale that was on the last day, I didn't expect to find much. But there was some stuff left...Got a bunch of hammer handles, what I believe is a Craftsman ball pein, and a big Vaughan hammer head. 2 Penens DOEs, Craftsman DOE, 2 unbranded offset DOEs (Barcalo maybe?), Lectrolite offset DOE, and Plomb DOE. Blue Point and Proto punches, Indestro and Snap on sockets, and Langline ratcheting wrench. Also SK, Craftsman, P&C, and other assorted sockets. Extensions are Craftsman, Bonney, and I forget the last one. Another $20 for this batch.
Last stop was billed as a "Handyman's dream sale". And it was that...kind of. Maybe a handyman hoarder's dream sale. There was a lot of junk scattered everywhere but plenty of good stuff mixed in. I spent over an hour there I think, the best part was they were handing out boxes that you could fill for $5. I'll catalog all this stuff later but here's a couple shots. Pretty sure I got my 10 bucks worth.
