Decent haul this morning (Lugz 2022_15) with some keepers (NASA magnet, Charles Hall bike wrench, SIMANCO no roll screwdriver, XL CeeTeeCo slip-joints), some flippers (Heller 2lb ball-pein, Proto soft-tip) and one bought-purely-for-adding-to-ongoing-discussion-purposes-piece (a Reif&Nestor ripped-off JAW thread file).

Oh, and two LEFT-BEHINDs...

A quite literal just-in-case-you-didn't-think-it-was-authentic-alligator-hide alligator purse and a Remington hand trap.

Some Fridays are great !
After being skunked last weekend I had a good Friday this week !
Came across a SO Ferret tool box and spinner that I looked at twice before I realized what it was. With a snap on Model F-4-A speed wrench to boot.
One sale yielded some small bits, empty 1/4 drive case (many colors, no embossing),wood level, handmade T square, machinist hammer, pin wrench and a small pair of the Bernards Pattern pliers. I asked about looking in the garage and the seller said go ahead. I found the dynamic jaw of a Richards Wilcox wood vise. Hunting around for the rest of the vise I found a small clamp on vise and a Coleman Army type stove in good condition. And was able to locate the bench mount for the vise. $5 for the smalls, $10 for the clamp on vise, $20 for the stove and $15 for the wood vise!

Update: looks like there is a quick release mechanism I am missing. Hmmmm...

Restores in NOVA are ridiculously priced and don’t seem to ever have much to look through. Good luck at the sale in Leesburg.
I was a half hour late leaving Boston, so I was hard pressed to get all the way down the Mass & Jersey Turnpikes to Leesburg, VA before the 3pm closing time. I made it with 20 minutes to spare.

I almost thought it had all been for naught when I stepped into the tool shed. This was one of those company sales where they put a pricetag on eeeeeeeeeeevery little thing!

IMG_20220304_143502.jpgIMG_20220304_143533.jpg

And they weren't low prices either. I looked around for stuff marked in my acceptable range and bundled two items with some unmarked saw blades they'd missed hanging from a screw under a workbench.

Exact drywall square--I already have two of these, but forgot to grab one for drywall work at Mom's place this weekend. At $7, I guess Mom will have one now too.
Channellock 808 8" adjustable wrench--pristine, and marked at $4
DeWalt 12" 60-tooth carbide saw blade, unused
Oldham 12" 80-tooth carbide saw blade, used but looks sharp
Avanti 10" 60-tooth carbide saw blade, unused

IMG_20220304_183035.jpg

At the register, I negotiated a bundle price of $20, but apparently in Virginia, they collect sales tax on top of the bargained price! I at least got the lady at the register to round off the $21.20 total to the nearest whole dollar so that I didn't have to handle the coins.

PS: passed on this, but had to post for the nozzlers on the thread. It was marked at $5.

$25 FB MP buy. United States Electrical Tool Co. bench grinder with stand. Has neat sequential serial number. LOL. It turns 8x1" wheels, 1/2hp. 6.6 amp, with added Craftsman light. 1939 information @ V-M.org indicates this "Heavy Duty" Model 8 weighs 115lbs and cost $90. Could be a early war effort machine.

It should look like this, two separate pieces I think, no spring, relies on gravity to function, if you go back.

Last day of a 3 day sale. This week is the first time in forever I worked a 7-3:30 shift instead of 6:00 to 2:30 and this sale closed at 4:00 every day. Guy said it was pretty clear after day 1. Managed to come home with 2 items. Bought the Spintites as it was legible/decent shape incase any one out there can use it/fill in. The laser measurer is a low frills compared to my Bosch GLM 42 ,which I use weekly on the job ,but may provide a spare/temp to keep in the car.

Stopped at a local indoor flea market this morning. Mac hammer, Cornwell 3/4 wrench, and a Snap on metal case, with what appears to be some bushing installation/removal tools? $15 for all 3 items.

I went to two sales today. One was at an auto shop that had been in business for over 50 years, and the owner was retiring. He had a big storage building behind the shop and was clearing out all kinds of old stuff, including a 1930 Plymouth and a 1974 Mercury Capri. Most of the items were the kind of things you'd find at your typical repair shop, but probably not so useful for the home mechanic. (Why would I need a box of 24 oil filters?). I didn't spend too much time there, and only found two items---the stainless spray can rack ( at least, that's what I'm going to use it for) and a Sureshot sprayer, very dirty, but worth a go. $12 for both.

The next sale was an actual estate sale. There were some faily good tools, but I arrived a bit late for the best stuff. I did manage to find a P&C wood-handled screwdriver, a good quality dustpan, and a Norton sharpening stone in a steel box. Everything needs a good cleaning, but worth the $5. Winter is usually a slow time for garage sales around here, but it's starting to pick up.IMG_0777.jpg

Man I was behind from Wed, due to the notifications stopping - I must have missed a "Next Page"

You're both in denial.

Although I have seen them at flea markets, I really didn't know this was a thing until I noticed Outlaw collecting them. Now there're three of you. I think we should just blast the doors open on this particular closet and just have a 'Who has the most vintage nozzles?' contest. Everyone reports in on, oh, let's say, April 14, which is National Gardening Day. (Duplicates don't count!) :)

I'm pretty sure I've infected more than 2. but it's not at pandemic levels. Yet...

I'm in for the 14th. are you going to be the impartial judge Lugz? :see:

Not real heavy on the tools and most not that old, (but edging towards vintage at least...)

A Fan for my youngest - She Semi collects them - this one is painted BOTH sides - most are not...:
YS1 Fan.jpg

Second stop - A 4' wood ladder. this is going to be MUCH safer that the little step ladder...

YS2 Ladder1.jpg

And I Noticed it had Bell System markings when I was loading!

YS2 Ladder2.jpg

And a NIB Coleman stove top Drip Coffee maker:

YS2 Cof M 1.jpg

NEVER been used:

YS2 Cof M 2.jpg

Stop three: SO Ratcheting Driver set, and Allen Set in a metal box:

And The late run: Stop 1 had nothing; Literally. It was a "Free" clean-out of an estate from a week or so back and I was 15 min late to the start...

Last Stop I was early to, but already people had piles. The driveway was OK, but not inspiring. then I found the Garage WAS open adn things got better:

In a small tub was a bunch of fishing gear, all new. On sorting I found two of most everything and in baggies and I suspect this was for a planned fishing outing with grand kids? :dunno: 4 rebel lures, 2 boxes of Rubber stuff, a hook sharpener, a Knife sharpener, etc...

YS5 Fishing.jpg

A book on cleaning adn caring ofr he catch, tent repair kit, magnet card holders (I'm think in Too box lable holders...) Magnifier, 2 loupes, 8 adn 10X, 3 Swiss Tech, Folding Pliers (these clip onto key chains), 2 Buck Whitaker 759 Folding Pocket Knife & Bottle Openers

YS5 Fish, Buck, Swiss Mag Brass Kit.jpg

Craftsman Drill bit set, and a Makita Bit set with drills.

YS5 G Bit sets.jpg

An SS glove for keeping sharp knives off your left hand, and a Suction Cup vise - No name but decently built for hobby use.

YS5 G SS glove, Vise.jpg

Consumables, and a made in England Xacto set knock off, in a wood box; Missing the saw handle unfortunately.

$20 all told for the last stop.

Wow, @Outlawmws, never knew those Coleman coffee makers existed. Very interesting. Are they all metal (except for the glass pot)?

Aside from the space it would take, that would be perfect in the RV! I rarely plug in, and the generator quit about a decade ago.

Thursday I hit the local scrap yard, picking up two Proto puller arms for a 10ton and the cross and forcing screw for a six-ton.

Friday I had a bunch of things to do, and there weren't any good sales, but I did manage to find the following at one sale I stopped in at:
51921005870_c9ace9d847_c.jpg
Most of a '60s Snap-on set, a BOG, and an unknown socket, all of which was in a Sears box.

Today I went to a number of sales, and in no order:
51920733549_770647ca6b_c.jpg
The Millers Falls spiral driver was from one stop, while the box, unmarked driver, and small pliers (Krauter, Vaccum Grip, unmarked) came from another.

51920495933_2327bac4fa_c.jpg
I bought a bucket of plane parts, a put together #4, and a Stanley chisel from an estate sale that knew nothing about tools ("Everything is sharp!" "Yeah, but you through it all in a bucket...")

Stopped at another estate sale and picked up this cute little band saw:
51919384837_00fd234ecd_c.jpg
51920970235_ca353d1d87_c.jpg
It's a 9" from the thirties. Apparently, this company made bandsaws for Sears Companion line, but this one isn't marked as such.

Finally stopped at a used tool store and picked up these:
51920734664_c3b73cbffd_c.jpg
An antique case trimmer and a small ratcheting driver for changeable tips.

The bottom half is metal some of the top parts are plastic. I'm told some had some aluminum for the heat plate that heats the water.

Nice hauls Beemer and chenry! You guys ****!

Here's some stuff from last weekend that I just got around to taking pics of: A big Nicholson rasp for my knifemaking buddy, Snap on Ferret speeder, Craftsman V 1/4" extension, 3 random hammer heads, sockets are Mac, SK, Powrkraft, Craftsman BE, wobbler is Snap on, dunno about the torx, and the last little 3/8 socket has a mark that kinda looks like CR? It seems familiar to me but I can't remember where people were talking about it. I know it was somewhere on the vintage board...anyway 6 bucks for this stuff.

IMG_3828.jpg

The next sale had a promising looking tool room but I couldn't get there right as it opened. When I walked in the small room was packed with the local tool guys that were hoovering things up as fast as they could grab them...here's the remnants that I scrounged up for $16. Another nicholson, SK Wayne extension and deep, Mitutoyu hole guages (all there), Starrett auto punch, knife, and a german made metric caliper that will replace my current cheap metric piece from Amazon.

IMG_3829.jpg

I grabbed this tool box hoping to get a package deal on the rusty stuff inside. I don't want the box and it'll likely end up at goodwill as I'm not willing to take on the project this thing requires.

IMG_3833.jpg

Here's the inside, the main reason I grabbed it was the RHFT ratchets and after further investigation it looks like most of a 1/4 and 3/8 V set with crows foot and other pieces. Whether or not it's worth the money I paid will depend on how the tools clean up. I'm a little worried that some of them may not be salvageable. I also grabbed the Vise Grip wrap and a few other Craftsman wrench sets, $30 all in on this stuff.

IMG_3832.jpg

The next sale I was debating on whether to go or not as it was pretty far out of my planned route. I elected to go and am glad I did as I may have hit a money maker. I paid $25 for this batch. Yet another Nicholson, SK 1/2 breaker and extension, Plomb t handle and extension, a bunch of P&C combos and a couple sockets, Proto doe, Craftsman combo and metric DOEs. There are also a few long C sockets, a mystery socket, and a hex ratchet plug. The big Handy Hex DBE spoke to me so I grabbed it.

The score of the bunch is the Craftsman BT 1/2 drive ratchet. It's the first one I've seen and they seem to sell for quite a bit on the auction site that will not be named!

IMG_3830.jpg

Last sale I drove a long way for on a gamble, it didn't really pay off but I was happy to take this stuff home for 3 bucks. Another nicholson, not sure what this DBE is, maybe a Ford wrench? I was happy to get a couple SK sockets that I needed to complete a set, the other sockets in that top row are Indestro and Wizard. Next row down is Bonney 1/4" stuff, Blackhawk, SK extension, and below that a few Powrkraft 1/4" pieces. The bottom row is Snap on.
