2022 Garage Sale Thread

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've been Active on here.. I figured this was the perfect thread to visit and add a sweet little swap shop find. Not sure that I'll end up keeping it, but I just couldn't leave it there. It looks like it's seen almost no use in it's life. Maye a couple of the smallest sockets. I gave a quick damp wipe down of the case, but it would be near excellent with a little cleaner and a rag. JC penney branded case with a complete Penncraft set nestled inside. Not a bad pickup for $12 I think.

I picked up this craftsman double bit axe today for $48. Not a you **** but the handle is straight and the blade just needs a good oiling and sharpening. Still has traces of the blue paint on the handle! I probably will move this one along.

Our flea market doesn’t begin until Sunday, April 3rd so I enjoyed the nice weather today by going to my favorite flea market tool guy’s house for an early sale. He had some stuff I’ve been wanting. Picked up the lightly used Klein tool backpack for $50 and the assorted tools for $80. Forgot one Kreg face clamp in the picture.

Interesting stuff (To me) that I got from my mom from the Move/Estate sale/What to sell/What goes to Family members process:

Plastic caps are for re-sealing Soda pop bottles - these are from when my dad was selling Fuller Brush part time, about the time I was born. So part of my childhood. -also the aluminum cap -I also found some basting brushes with aluminum ferules, and some with green plastic -the aluminum were from my dad, the green from me (HS for a VERY short time - My one and only excursion into sales..),

The carving set was the family carving set for Turkey day and Xmas; Swedish steel! I had no idea.

The balloon pump is sliding cardboard tubes, and metal ends for intake and the pump ends and again my childhood - worked well then and still does

Moms cookie Jar: She got it from her Grandmother and gave it to my youngest daughter - So she has her great great grandmother's Cookie Jar! It predates 1947 when My mom came down from Canada at 17





That same Great grandmother's Guardian Aluminum Dutch oven - I already have her same make Octagonal griddle. -these will go to my oldest daughter.

The Salt and pepper shaker were in the kitchen as early as I can remember. so Mid fifties, Dad may have brought them back from Japan during Korea.

I stopped going to the Flea Market.
Haven't gone in several weeks now.
The only thing that I see there is High Prices

Last time I was at our FM, I thought for a minute there that I had found the three Xcelite nut drivers that I needed to complete my set.
Nothing great, no Orchard Park, just a regular ole 3/16, 7/32, and 9/32
That was until the Picker said, Gimme 20 bucks for the three!
No thanks (they were beat and abused!)
Double, no thanks

So, staying home, I found this on Craigslist
This is the second little Craftsman set that I have run across in as many weeks
Both sets are missing the =v= 5/16 and 3/8's??!
I wonder what's up with that?

I believe the bull dozer answer was my first thought. The truck answer would work also. The gauge is filled with oil to slow down the movement of the bubble. I build roads and this would have been a handy tool back in the day. Now we have laser guided equipment.

I picked up this Craftsman Industrial Drill along with miscellaneous hardware yesterday at an Estate Sale for $10.

I had less than 10 minutes to stop by my new favorite swap shop on my way home. I'm STOKED with what I got, because a new code reader was at my finger tip to order, but I hadn't decided yet.. A pair of Craftsman ratchets in 3/8 and 1/4. (we all know the 1/4 rhft is the one I went googly over). A full set of metric Craftsman USA Ign. wrenches (and one bonus sae). A set of USA Craftsman impacts lacking 1/2, 9/16, and 13/16. And lastly 2 basic OBD2 code readers. The black one is quite nice. My 10 year old MAC is having intermittent issues and has become unreliable... I may be in the market for a more serious scan tool, but I needed something basic for the immediate. I couldn't believe I found 2! All-in-all Im pumped for $40 OTD.. Another post coming later tonight or tomorrow with my local U-Pull-It yard tool score...

Found this on Facebook marketplace and conveniently it was right on my way home from work. The nice gentleman had a shelf full of assorted hand tools. Managed to pull out this stuff. Mostly Snap on and Bonney wrenches. A Herbrand 1/2 ratchet, a Cluthe mallet. The needle nose are vacuum grip, the side cutters are Bonney.

Were those spiked ends for jabbing into a large chunk of meat like a roast or turkey? Like to turn it during cooking.

Stopped in on the first day of a 3-day sale. Mostly mancave stuff, but all ridiculously pre-priced. The back yard was full of surplus highway signs marked at $150-$300 each. I left empty handed and nothing I saw will bring me back on Sunday, either. Best of luck to the seller.

OTC tie rod sleeve tool, matco drum brake adjuster, MAC wrench rack

BMW wrench, craftsman and Wright sockets, Snappy pliers

2 Bonney doe, a really early Blue Point wrench, Cornwell and SK sockets, Mercedes wrenches


Long Cornwell 7/8 wrench and 2 SK ratchets

SK set. Mixed variations but I think I have enough extra to make a matching set

Might go back tomorrow

Picked up these spreader bars, mfd marked Proto wrench, an sk 1/2 hinge handle that has a female end and this knock off nintendo game system for $17. For that price I am not getting hurt

Here is the only LEFT-BEHIND worth snapping. They definitely went together in terms of the business end, and, even though the handles look different in color, they are both also the same kind of dense fibrous composite (probably fiberglass) and of course shape. No clue on make or use case and I wasn't curious enough to look up the stock numbers yet.

Hey, I know this one! It's a surgical driver for artificial joints, and the brand is Synthes. I have a Synthes 11mm combo in my VeeGee collection; don't know whether it was manufactured by Thorsen, or just licensed. The Synthes logo on mine appears to be laser etched.

Woo hoo! First 15 seed in E8 EVER! Core of team played in the Shore Conference, same HS conference all my kids played in, including DD#2, who just got knocked out of WNIT. Underecruited old school ballers just having fun. NJ is going nuts!

That ratchet tool, I could be wrong but something keeps telling me a fence or wire tool. I’ve seen them but can’t find any examples online at the moment.

It's possible. I snagged it just because I didn't know what it was and it was old (1907 patent date). I'm going to have to study it when I get home. It's in my checked luggage.
