It Works well but only useful for rough carpentry like Framing. it helps prevent bent nails as well.

The waffle side is for close quarters work. Generally repair, or if you get ahead of yourself and close a gap...

I MUST get out this weekend. I have some things lined up for tomorrow if all goes well. Aaaand... Mrs. Duddly is out of town for the weekend! So before she gets back I should make plans not to own this:

I picked up a 1940s (?) American Optical Delineascope (early slide projector?) that had belonged to the US Navy's Naval Gun Factory in DC. along with 21 slides at a flea market a couple weeks ago. With the wife out of town, I snuck it in the house to watch the slides. It was worth the price of admission for the experience even if the pictures were not really memorable. I have included the best one, but there were only a handful of machinist style pictures. The images were actually projected 10 feet or so onto a scrap of posterboard. It one one wide image but my "screen" as not optimal and focusing in a short distance was beyond the patience of good ole' Duddly tonight.

oh.. read BEFORE operating... got it...
not sure how I forgot these pictures of the manual... there are flea market vendors around here who see me coming and tell me "I got paper today!" - I am known to love the old paper stuff - esp. with the item!

VERY cool, @duddly!

Funny, whenever I buy ANYTHING off CL, my first email always goes out with "Do you have any paperwork (manuals, parts lists, etc?)." Helps me decide if they're the original owner, or at least that they probably didn't steal the item.

No, I'm not paranoid, and never thought of this before my FIL had a farm tractor stolen from MA, and the police eventually found it in CT, but it had already been sold through CL. The thief was tracked down and ordered to pay restitution, but the CL buyer got to keep the tractor. My mind is still blown over that...

What ever happened to "possession of stolen property"? Buyer beware...

That's EXACTLY what I'd thought!!! Worst part was, he'd asked me to take it because he thought he was done with it, but I said NO because I thought my wife would have a canary about having it here. I definitely should have taken him up on it.

What sizes on the SO mini offset DBE, and is it 6- or 12-point? Looks like the perfect tool for brake bleeders.

Over the last few days I have hit a few estate sales, garage sales, restores and what not. So, in some sort of order, here is what I have found. First ES was that of an old car restorer. The company hosting the sale is not one for cheap prices on the first day, but of having really good stuff, so I made the trek of about an hour:
52005487119_3f68622c1a_b.jpg
Probably the coolest machine lamp I have come across. It still has the original wiring which is in good shape.
52005998895_1e6ee50604_b.jpg
An early Herbrand thread restoring set, with all dies present. Also a war-time SK box, in perfect condition with someone having peeled off the decal. I will have to pick one up of the 'bay.

Another ES yielded these nice Craftsman pieces:
52005735314_707c080182_b.jpg
ok, the ratchet isn't that nice, but was only a buck, and the hatchet is geometric C.

At another ES I found these:
52006003155_fbae93cea1_b.jpg
I never pass up a wrench roll, and an I not sure that the doohickey is, but I am sure someone here will know.

And here are a few of the Restore finds
52006003380_cf9816d9e7_b.jpg
Bolt cutter jaws in the box, Snap-on and Williams sockets, along with various lamp parts.

There is more to come, I just haven't had a chance to get the last of the stuff out of my truck and take pictures yet.

bmwrd0: Are you anywhere near a place where sailing is popular? I think RTM found it. Looks like a sailmaker's palm to me

3/16 X 7/32 and 12 pt believe it or not. Pretty small...

Holy Crud! SO asks $42.50 for this wrench! I went looking to see if it was listed as a specialty wrench.

Cool (and somewhat befuddling) decal.
I not sure that the doohickey is,
Lugz thinks of these every time he grabs a corn shucker, I think.

It is definitely a palm, and you are correct, RTM, I do. That one is missing its thimble, though. You can see the pits. Same as the pits in metal or plastic thimble that help lodge the needle head. But the leather thimble that surrounds it has been torn or worn off.

5 min project from the stuff I pulled out of my mom's garage - the handle is from a mop (Fuller Brush?) that used replaceable heads, Slightly modified to fit better, and the dust pan is one I made in metal shop that the riveted handle tore loose from (and was gone). I opened the bottom hole, contributed a 12-24 nut and 1/4" washer, and Voila! a no bend dustpan!

Much better than bending down for the job... I may replace the washer with a wider bar so it bridges the stick's head, and doesn't work loose...

I left a little angle on the metal stick so the pan edge lift up and should minimize spillage.

At first glance I’d say it’s a sewing palm protector, for pushing needles through canvas sails. Lugz thinks of these every time he grabs a corn shucker, I think.

That's what it is. I have sail repair kit with some very old tools and that is a part of it.

Couple hours running around this morning to fleas and yards. Picked up the following.
Couple Snappy drivers, a Snappy brake adjustment tool, and an Indestro drum brake shorty I’ve never seen. $4 for this lot.
16E581FC-2E2B-490B-890A-CAA63BA2B40E.jpeg
Next lot was a Kennedy tool box (no tray) with contents. Paid $14 for this. Sockets up top are Bonney, drivers are SK and Proto, SK and Sears wrenches, couple Par X, early OTC wrenches and so on

Last lot I paid up for. The ratchets are Walden and Craftsman, one SK adapter, couple MAC specialty wrenches, and all the rest is Snap on. I paid $60 for this lot and most of it is going straight into my boxes. Some Mercedes wrenches to flip.

Almost forgot this little $2 haul.

Got this working remote control BB1N for my grandson (my yard sale companion) for $3. He was allotted $10, and he only spent $5.

Nice hauls guys. I like the Herbrand Beemer.

Raineman, funny I picked up two similar Walden ratchets today too. Have to post pics later.

Outlaw, did you have the big sale. If so how did it go?

Having somewhat recovered from driving my parents to the “Gateway to the West” - MrsLesserSon doing her time at the helm as well - we accompanied my sister and nephew on an expedition somewhat more aligned with my current interests than yesterday’s trip through the St Louis Botanical Gardens to see the tulips CFD49159-6B94-440E-BE1B-52883808313D.jpeg(not that I didn’t enjoy it - especially afterward at the Urban Chestnut Brewery). Three or four guys had the stuff I like to pick through.C101B1C5-A627-4A2B-9291-10F0E76E58E8.jpeg
The Vacuum-Grip waterpumps are Newport PA. The Utica ones have pat appld for. The Bonney CV ones are, well, Bonney. vPLVMBv slipjoints. The 1957 Snap-on No196 longnose have modified jaws and “VO” stamped on the pivot. 8D5883F5-63AD-4F40-8578-DF237D2BC4D4.jpegTwo Bonney does. vPLVMBv WF-78, two ^PLVMBv WF-77 unis. Craftsman BE 5-8 uni. 9/16 and 7/16 6pt S-O overstrike sockets with “VE” stamped on them.
Then on to Washington MO for lunch, an Elysian Space Dust IPA and a selfie with my dad on the banks of the Big Muddy (which, after recent rains is exactly that).

My haul from today was mostly yard stuff, a concrete contractor style wheelbarrow, high sides, metal handles, square nose, and a push broom with a longer than average handle for us tall folks. Also grabbed some goodies for the wife, a potted plant and portable fire display.

Not a steal, but reasonable prices for the total package.

OK, got the last of the stuff out of my truck, not as much as I thought there was, but some of my favorites:
52009206199_fd465beed2_b.jpg
An ES way out in the country, run by a pair of women with no real knowledge of tools. Which was interesting because there was zero household stuff. Any way, a MAC double flare set, bundle of needle files, Thorsen 3/8" breaker bar, (3) Craftsman breaker bars, Williams and Pennen's extensions, SK Wayne spinner, Proto, Plomb and Snap-on sockets, a KAL ratchet (needed to complete a set) and last, but not least, a Bridgeport offset. I did swing by another sale out in the sticks, but not much of interest in the way of tools. There was, however, an MGTF with a make an offer sign. Mighty tempting, but prudence stayed my hand. $5 for all of that.

The last stop was a TOO, sort of. It was listed on Craigslist, but didn't look interesting. But, I was passing by, so I stopped. Weak I am.
52009015653_de4e75b41e_b.jpg
A pair of MAC snap ring pliers, and I was shocked to find the three vintage US cone wrenches. These are for working on the Bendix two speed and kickback hubs on vintage Schwinn's. Of which I have two. They aren't super rare, but not very common anymore at this point. As the English would say, quite chuffed to find them. Oh, and I stopped by the used bicycle place and picked up a pair of, you guessed it, English sized crank cotters for the '54 Hercules I am currently working on. A buck for the wrenches, and a buck for the cotters.

@duddly , cool historical pic of the Navy shop. Funny how my eyes zoomed in on the Parker swivel jaw, swivel base vise.
