3bay - what is the opening size on that Niagara?

Outlaw - I've never heard of a "Rapid Fire". Does that hose connect directly to a standard isobutane canister?

Yes it does - std screw in type.

From what I read it was MSR's first canister fueled stove in the mid 90's? The Whisperlight was CF/White gas, also a remote tank, and this was a adaptation of the Whisperlight. No preheat cup however, not needed. This one came with two sets of the wrench and pricker tool for clearing the orifice. I think I have a few cans of fuel I should give it a try.

Wow, that quite the score! I'm trying to get my head wrapped around he rolling knee pad though. Seems like its going t destroy work boots, and how much leverage can you get on wheels? with a rolling stool you at least have your feet in front for pressure.

I checked CL this AM and saw a sale close by that said tools. Count me in!!! I head over and am the first one there but the guy says most of the tools went yesterday. I guess I missed that during yesterday's CL check. I managed to score a 1954-55 Ford Shop manual in nice condition and a 1966 Ford Falcon owner's manual with the original owner's information in it. I did a quick search and it appears that the gentlemen was born in 1901 and passed away in 1985. No family information. I would have contacted them to see if they wanted it.
I also looked at what I thought initially was an old tool box. Leather handle, metal corners etc. I opened it and the guy tells me he bought it years ago and it's a Ford Model T picnic set. It has salt and pepper shakers and the metal tins but no other accessories. It appears old and is in nice condition. I found one on ebay with some dishes etc but not sure what was original to the set. Does anyone have any info on it? Is it it for a Model T or just a generic picnic set? I took a chance for $15 and figured it was worth it.

Depending on how complete it is, I doubt you can get hurt with picnic set - -One was posted on the Coleman collectors forum a year or two back and a lot of drooling going on....

Unless marked Ford, any antique car user could have bought/used it, so I'd take the "Model T' as a generic for that era.

Agreed on the Model T aspect.

Glad to know. It is in nice condition. Leather straps inside, flat head screws and USA made hardware are some tell tale signs of it's vintage. I figured it has to be worth a bit more than the $15 I paid.

This weekend is our annual city wide garage sale. Every year I get excited, and every year I go home angry after 30 minutes of dealing with people blocking narrow neighborhood streets. I guess I never learn. I only picked up a handful of stuff in my short outing. An old craftsman repair kit, a proto LA 1”-3/4” reducer, a little pipe wrench, a few ignition wrenches, and 3 plomb LA 3/8” sockets. At least I only spent 3 bucks…

Lots of great scores this year! Things have been an absolute roller coaster for me the past while. Bought a house finally 2 weeks ago and haven’t been doing much garage sale shopping. Only recent finds were these purchases for the new house. Both in excellent shape and from the original owner. Picked them up along with a Stihl trimmer I already resold. I paid $225 for all 3. Mower has been working great and the snow blower will need a basic tuneup before winter 7E307B48-BFF2-4944-B174-877120A6B3D0.jpegD0817986-958A-4D86-919F-797C5AC07180.jpeg

I picked up this little toolbox at a local online auction.
It was listed as “ metal toolbox w/ some tools”
I could see the hex drive sockets and the ratchet, so for $1.00, why not.
After I picked it up I found this. Snap on 71A ratchet. It’s missing the selectors switch, but seems in good shape.
The date code looks like 1936 to me, but it also has a 5 like 1935 so… 🤷‍♂️
Any expert info appreciated.

Nice find.

Originally stamped for 1935 and then re-stamped for 1936. That’s sometimes seen on the older tools.

That’s sort of a transitional rat, as it still had the old needle type selector, but transitioned from the tapered handle to the later wide base handle yours has, that’s found on most rats.

Unfortunately, the early needle selector must have easily gone missing in use. It’s quite common to see the selector replaced on those early rats. Usually with a small nail, or some type of hardware pin clipped in there.

Your ratchet is not the most commonly seen. Nice find.

I don't know the answer to your questions but this guy praised it, said it saved his knee's. I had my knee's cramp up once this year, for the first time in my life, from kneeling on concrete all day. Holy ****! Never again! I was laying on the floor waiting for the cramps to go away, trying to look cool like I just thinking about what I was working on. I would rather wear out boots than my knees!
I have plans to use under semi trucks when doing wiring or air lines, plus it has places to put my tools and small parts that my rubber/foam pad does not.

He pretty much threw it in on the deal so no big loss if it doesn't work like I hope It will.

What craftsman repair kit is that? Some of the butterfly/ transition kits can go for over $50 on eBay!

On Sunday, I hit a few sales that were hit and miss, and in the end went back to the good sale from the day before, to see what turned up on the last afternoon.
52075238397_27ea5b7016_b.jpg
First stop was listed as a tool sale. Not bad prices, just not much I was interested in. New Britain ratchet, Indestro breaker bar, and a book on tool making. The Machinists supply catalog from LA in the late 40s was spotted under a table, but it took a bit of talking to pry that away.

52073647966_891b788009_b.jpg
a couple stops later, at a Xmas tree farm, I found these long C lathe gouges.

But, in the end I returned to that sale from yesterday:
52073652638_1c95129035_b.jpg
were I picked up this crate of tools for half-off. And for that $10 I have gotten more entertainment digging through, finding some interesting stuff, some treasures, and a lot of ****.
52073666778_aaee924273_b.jpg
Speeders, scrapers, homemade reach tools...
52075219316_95af11656e_b.jpg
Drivers, snips, spoke cutters (that alone is worth the price of entry)...
52075447994_032a4a3113_b.jpg
drive plug sockets, Snap-on drain pan socket, long C tape measure, thread chasers...
52076492915_197e2d8907_b.jpg
and drivers. Plomb, Bell System, a complete set of insulated...
And, frankly, so much more. Incuding a bunch of what-is-its, but that will be for another day, and maybe another post.

I picked up these items yesterday at an Estate Sale for $30. A partial Craftsman # 26375 router set, a Snap On SAE 3/8" 6pt set minus the 1/2" socket. I located the socket on Ebay for $16. A Husky # CS 25 1/2" extension.

I've been running behind.....this is last Wednesday's haul.
I haven't been to the Wednesday Flea Mkt in 2 month but last Wednesday it was a beautiful 80° day and the place was packed!
Here are the few items I found......
WTH1.jpg
Porter Cable 333 random orbital sander (Needs pad and belt) for $3
Homemade brass "hammer" and the K-D 127 Tester (sorry I clipped the pic short) for $1
The Stanley #33-692 tape measure and the Ridgid small tubing cutter were FREEBIES!! :rocker:

WTH2.jpg
The PC 333 has been used for drywall and the hook-n-loop pad is missing and the belt that causes the "random" orbiting is gone, so parts will probably cost $20-$25.

WTH3.jpg
WTH4.jpg
WTH5.jpg
The Stanley tape is covered in dried mud but the blade is in excellent unused condition, so a little clean-up is all it'll need (and y'all know I'll clean it! :lol_hitti )

WTH6.jpg
And....here it is after the spa treatment....

WTH7.jpg
Here's the whole group after their spa time....

The K-D tester takes 2 AAA batteries and looks clean on the inside so it'll probably work.....and I'll probably round or bevel the edges of the brass hammer....and of course I can always use another small tubing cutter (y)

This is the result of a single bid at a local auction. I thought I'd just throw a $50 bid for the hell of it and got stuck with a full truck bed. These are the better parts.

34 pounds of dive weights

And finally
five unknown cast iron plates
eight inch grinder buffer with a bad switch but runs glass smooth after replacing the burned buffer pad.
I filled several buckets with scrap iron. I would guess around three hundred pounds.

Saturday on the way home from the barber shop I bumped into a friend who told me about an unadvertised garage sale that "had some tools." It was on the way home, and indeed, they had some tools. Not much, but I found a few worth buying. Total cost was $2.00, so I can't complain.

Proto 47 5/16 x 5/32 pin punch (sharpened)

Sunday I went to an auction. I normally don't go to these, but a friend suggested this would be interesting, and he was right! It was a disposal of a hoarder/antique dealer who was retiring and moving out-of-state. Lots of junk, and some good stuff was mixed into the boxes of junk. About a dozen boxes per table, bid for "choice." All the tables had another layer of boxes on the floor under them, and that got brought up after the table was sold and cleared. Preview at 8 AM, auction started at 10 AM and finished at 6 PM. I spotted some items during the preview, but was outbid on many of them, including a Plomb 9989 tool chest that went for $35.00.
CO2-Argon Bottle.jpg
Bottle of 75/25 MIG CO2/Argon gas, 2000 psi, so nearly full -- $65.00
Simpson Megger 1.jpg
Simpson CK08455L2 Megohm meter. Good battery! --$5.00
Books.jpg
Chilton's and Motor manuals, plus an unrelated book, Can you spot the oddball? $45.00
Binocs and Irrigation.jpg
Box of new brass sprinklers, glass insulator, and a pair of binoculars -- $5.00
Binocs.jpg
Leupold 10x25 compact binoculars from the sprinkler box. Perfect shape. Lifetime warranty!
Cole Files.jpg
2 Cole stacking card files. Removable drawer dividers. -- $30.00
Dollies 1.jpg
Basket with Bostitch T40 air staple gun (it works), 7 auto body dollies, small hammer, Escape Hammer, and a Walden T-handle wrench -- $25.00
Roll Top Desk.jpg
Roll top desk. This was a featured item in the brochure, and should have gone high. Early 20th century, solid oak, 58" wide and 32" deep, everything works, well-used, but not abused. It was getting late and the opening bid was dropping, so I raised my hand at $50.00 to get the bidding going so we could get this sold and move on. NOBODY ELSE BID! Now I'm stuck with it.

The oddball book mentioned in the last post is The Winchester Book, by George Madis. This is the definitive book on Winchester rifles, and very popular. After I got it home, I discovered that it is a First Edition, and signed by the author!
Madis 1.jpg

I missed out on another interesting piece:
Colt 1929 Pamphlet 1.jpg
Colt 1929 pamphlet, including the January, 1929 price list!
Colt 1929 Price List.jpg
It went for $70.00, which was a very low price, but still above my budget.

That bunch of auto body dollies had a couple of Porter Fergusons, a GD3 and a GD5. There were a couple of other nice older dollies without identification, plus a home-made one and a modern imported one.
