If the bottles have a company name (usually forged or cast into the surface) on the ring surface below the valve, they are rental tanks. That ring is unmarked on private bottles except for an occasional hand stamping.

If they are private bottles, you **** for that haul!
Thanks for the tip on that! I never could find out how you know if cylinders are rentals or owned. Neck is clean on the oxy, thank goodness. Where would a mark be on the acetylene?

VERY slow day, - plenty of sales, both posted andTOO's but not a lot of finds... I did pass on 3 cheap lanterns, all double mantle commons..

This was all:

Book and Flares from an Estate sale, Joy stick from a so-called block sale (one house...) and the antler, (clips to a baseball cap bill) was from a mobile home park Flea.

The more we clean out my Grandfather's estate, the more interesting things I find. Here were my finds from this past week.

Lots of misc. gun and tractor parts. 3 rifle scopes, new jb weld, full bottle of Goo Gone, a few ball peen hammer heads, a bucket of hose clamps of all sizes, a couple small Ridgid pipe wrenches, a couple different sharpening stones, inside groove mics, Vernier calipers, Starrett tube mics, hole punch pliers, timing light, a USM axe head, and a Keen Kutter double bit axe head.
tools 1.jpg
on top of that, I got 3 pairs of Vise Grip pliers, pair of Channelocks, Crescent adjustable wrenches, drop pin for draw bar, Milwaukee Magnum drill, Williams 1/2" drive extension, a couple different oil filter wrenches, an OBD I Ford scanner, an assortment of Zerk fittings, and a couple more tractor accessories. tools 2.jpg
and then my favorite item, that I almost missed. A pair of Lady Leg Dividers/Calipers. I don't know who the manufacturer is or if they are homemade, but they will look good in my box next to my **** hair ruler.

I changed some fuses growing up in our old house.

In fact one time we had a new window installed when I was younger, and there was a saw running off the kitchen and kept blowing. That was fun.

You also made me think of my friend’s grandparents’ house when we were kids. He’d unscrew the fuse and all of us played hide and seek when they weren’t home. 2 floors plus basement. That house was pitch black and full of great hiding places. Lots of fun and a great memory!

On Friday Pep the dog and I drove far too far, to look at far too gone antiques, that were far too high priced for the condition they were in. Which was too bad, as there were a good half dozen barristers book cases, vintage barber benches, and other interesting things. But it looked like they had been stored outside under a carport for too long, and he had too much of a memory of what he paid however many years ago.

So it goes.

But I made a couple stops along the way there and back, and picked up the following:
52382012374_24de06816e_c.jpg
vintage bicycle wrench, early Lectrolite, Snap-on linesmen dykes, Goodell Pratt push drill, and wartime Bonney ratchet (which needs a dip in Evaporust.) Also included was a large sheet of clear Plexiglass I need for a project. $17.25

Today, Saturday, Pep the dog and I went to four sales, two of which were great, two of which were nothing to write home about. The first sale was for a heavy truck mechanic that passed suddenly, and his children knew he would want to have a pragmatic sale:
52382129980_4b75407984_c.jpg
There was a ton of stuff there, and a ton of people, so I only picked up a few things, Proto dead blow hammer, Proto socket rail (metric), Armstrong brace, and Chevron driver (looks kinda familiar, no?) $15 total.

Then we hit a family run farm sale, were I found the following:
52380621197_e7ff13ed0e_c.jpg
Of course I picked up this tool box, and after looking around, I found some Keen Kuter tapet wrenches, a Craftsman mt0 chuck, and a unknown rotohead hex drive ratchet.
52381560276_965f5625fe_c.jpg
Also, when paying the man, I spotted a few old radios, and when I asked about them he gave such a ridiculously low price (of course, the one I was really interested in had sold over the phone) that I picked this up this:
52380628397_1fe2723a54_c.jpg
A 1924 WorkRite Super Hetrodyne Neutrodne Reflex tube radio. And I have never seen a radio of this vintage with this clean of internals:
52380629502_d8e10d808d_c.jpg
I don't think it has been opened or touched, so, no, I wasn't going to pass it up! And I paid 1/4 of what they cost in '24! So, $30 for all of that.

But I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the first stop I made, so I went back up the hill. And I think I made the right call.
I started out asking the price of a toolbox I was interested in, and they made a very sweet deal on it, and then I took another look around:
52382019619_e4213a5df5_c.jpg
Some Morse thread cutters, Starrett punches in wooden tube, Williams superatchet, two Starrett drill gauges in original envelopes, and a Proto brass hammer. Oh, the toolbox I asked about? The top box here, but they assumed I was asking about the whole stack, so I got the Kennedy roller thrown in also:
52380613907_9d9e94e866_c.jpg
$25 for all of that.

And those old fuses were terrifying...

I'll say... I was home alone as a teenager once, managed to blow a fuse while vacuuming with the stereo cranked up as loud as it would go. When I went to change it, my thumb got caught between the fuse and the socket, and my entire arm started shaking spontaneously. Scared the daylights out of me.

Can anyone identify any of these below? There are two punches (Cornwall and something starting with a "MA" in a diamond which is the checkered one) but the rest of the items I have no clue. I would assume something to do with electrical work.

The 6 items at the bottom of the picture are cleco's for sheet metal work. You need a pair of cleco pliers to use them

Went to one sale today. The description didn't show much in tools, but did pick up some at a reasonable price and will post a few pics tomorrow. The winner of the day though was "Rip van Winkle" dating from 1971.

IMG_1552r.jpgIMG_1554r.jpgIMG_1555r.jpg

Wife and I were hunting in the basement and were looking through some cabinets and found "Rip" hiding and wrapped in newspaper. Since you can't sell alcohol in VA unless you are the ABC store, it was a freebee for spending more than $100. As you might notice in the 3rd picture, the tax stamp is undisturb and yes, there is liquid in this decanter. Search on the webs found this completed auction and this current offering. Soon to be 4 sale......

First trip to the flea in a month, and it didn't disappoint. I had memories of that WW2-era Collins Legitimus axe I found on the previous trip, and found it right away. Seller threw in a G (1945) code SnapOn 15/16" and (a possibly wartime) SK 9/16. SK and axe head currently in EvapoRust. Axe has a Collins haft, which may be post-war, but the shape of the fawn foot and the head markings are spot on for WW2. Too bad some knucklehead put in the steel wedge 90* from where it should have been, and cracked the head. Will leave the ugly weld, rather than risk overheating it and exposing the crack again. Want to clean up the haft and apply some BLO to make it prettier, and preserve it.

+/- 1970 BluePoint TD2400A tap and die set, complete.

Alemite 5585 grease gun in the cosmoline. Was planning to remove that, but may leave it.

Plumb hammer, could use some love. No martial markings.

Some miscellaneous screwdrivers, including an unmarked Perfect handle project, one for a GMTK and a Phillips for the kid's box I'm working on. Box of shotgun shells I probably overpaid for, especially since dove season is essentially over.

Good eye/instinct! Congrats. I hope a serious collector digs deep for it!

Nice find. Wartime correct. I find the early Bakelite handles to be much more common. And I vote for "leave".

Pretty sure that roto head ratchet is a Peerless.

This morning's "small haul" (Lugz 2022_46) included a Bonney Phillips #3 that I am hoping for wartime, but suspecting postwar (too rusty to see the patent number), couple original in-house CAM-LOC's, an "S" wrench that is a first for me, but others, including LesserSon and 4.c, have several, and are attributing to Eberhard (Trade material, or 1st of a future set, ya just never know), and a TRUTH (cool little Cowden TRUTH Tools logo) MANKATO 9/16" socket.

Picked up this little score of stuff yesterday and fit it all in my MK4 Jetta lol. I don’t know much about the tank stamps etc. to know if they’re still within date, but oxy has ~1500 psi in it and haven’t checked the acetylene. Victor regulators (VTS 400 D and VTS 410 A) and torch (CA1050 torch and 315 body) and all on a nice sturdy home built cart. Does need new hoses and flashback arrestors. 2’ square for size reference. Neat little craftsman toolbox and some USA c clamps and some hammers and puller. $110 for everything, so I felt pretty good about it!

Great haul. Victor regs alone are worth at least that much.
May as well get them rebuilt along with the new hose and arrestors.

That IS a "circle E" on that unit, correct? (It kind of looks more like "L" at first glance.)
To be clear: I don't own any of those. All those photos in the "Champion" thread (and "Eberhard") were lifted from various sources - mostly ebay. LS has quite a few of them.
Can you get me a larger photo image of the logo? That one is just a wee bit different - larger - than other "circle E" logos I've seen (which is a bit intriguing and evokes Stan's comments about some muckity-muck from Eberhard being a player in several other manufacturing concerns, one of which stamped out "malleable iron" tools.

I had a decent day yesterday, got some more S K Wayne sockets to fill out my set. A few Snap On wrenches and a couple of other goodies.

I also got the craftsman spinner handle for $2.00 believe it or not. The little vise hasn't any name or numbers, but look kinda similar to a Stanley I have.
The P&C pliers wrench is the second one I've found, but the other has a different logo.
I also got this old, old sanding block.
Really like the design.

I'm off to the first local flea market of the year, I'll post more pics and details later to the appropriate threads.
Wish me luck!

Went to Doug the tool guy’s house this morning. He’s my favorite flea market vendor. No flea market this week due to fair wee. $75 brought home a nice commercial electric meter $15, Klein Tape Measure and GFI tester, visegrip 4” bent nose pliers, 3 old craftsman doe wrenches, Klein 6” needle nose, and the Makita 1/4 sheet finish sander still in box and with receipt bought in 1993 at sears. $49.99 new in 1993 paid $20 for it. It had a pawnshop sticker on box and had been pawned by original owner’s kid.

This weeks haul....

Duro-Indestro 16pc set #7608. I'm guessing it was near the end of their existence as its odd they used foil stickers on the a couple of the sockets as well as the oddballish font and graphics on the placard.
Craftsman offset metric ignition wrench set 9-4308
S-K 49270 1/4dr thumbwell ratchet
4 inch Cresent Jamestown, NY adjustable wrench
Duro/Indestro 2087A 8 inch adjustable in mint shape.
Irwin wooden handle slotted. Clean handle is what made me buy it for dollar.

Picked these up today for 25c each. Also got a handful of smaller size nos -v- craftsman wrenches for a buck. I love the long c ci craftsman, tough to find here though. I'm a sucker for anything plomb in decent shape. Nothing special, just old tools that will continue to be used.

Zip code places it after 1963. I did find this in the 60A catalog (1982), Socket set was top of pg 4. Priced at either 39.92 or 44.46 (not sure what the SLR means on the second listing).

Slim pickings today - I went back to the Estate sale from yesterday and while they claimed "Clean out" some prices stuck so no deal on what I went back for. They even had the gall to quote "Eprey" at me...

Lugs can probably say how old the Wiggy, is. It seems to be in excellent condition - the insulation is holding up well.

The odd aluminum piece is the stove to pot piece for a Trianga backpacker's cookset.
