Couple more stops this weekend. One small flea market and a half dozen garage sales.

$8 total for 1st pic. Minus the wood handled hook. (The seller had to ask me what it was). $2 for that. Otherwise, just Craftsman tools mostly for a set I’m building for my daughter.

2nd pic is two speeders. One is SK Wayne 3/8”. The other SK 1/2”. And Craftsman punches. $2

3rd pic just some random items I figured I could use. $10. Going to clean up the jack and fabricate a mount for my UTV. F537EEB6-CE14-46AD-92CF-5414EC24BB7B.jpegA7476A92-959F-4079-8ADA-22AF043D735A.jpeg

Nothing for me today worth going out, but that's OK, I need the day for hunting prep - I leave O'dark thirty Thursday. for up to 11 days.

On the Mystery Driver, It screams early Craftsman to me, and others also see that. If the Dunlap are consistent with a separate cap, then not Dunlap. Craftsman were always to my knowledge one piece for that style.

Estate sale find today almost took my breath away. I just wanted to get it back to my car before someone told the estate sale company that my tools were priced too cheaply:

1) Blackhawk / Caterpillar Tool Chest loaded with Blackhawk sockets (a lot with 1939 date code), wrenches, etc. I did not have time to check all the details as I had darn "tool hoarders" around me trying to elbow-in on my find! The long screwdriver (could not find a maker's mark, but I liked the handle) was balanced on the chest so I included that in the deal.
2) A box of mostly early Walden-Worcester tee-handle fixed socket wrenches.

A second stop yielded a small Boley & Leinen #4967 watchmaker's vise, complete with dovetail slide. I am still breathing hard and I haven't even unpacked anything!

Here is Saturday's haul, from a place that promised tools, but he hadn't found them yet. More coming out on Sunday he said. We'll see, just a few miles up the road.

PXL_20221001_203200893-X2.jpg

Ammo box in fairly clean condition, Engrave-ID Pro (So I can mar up tools for the future, or remove it from the gene pool, not sure yet). Next is a weird non magnetic thing that extends, guessing its to hold a match for lighting candles down in jars based on the soot pattern. The General Ultra Tech Stainless Steel digital 3 mode caliper, with 4 digits on inches (4th just 0 or 5) didn't want to open or power up, maybe because the mode button is where the on/off is on my main one, gave it a bit of pressure at home, and it opened. And then pressing the right button it powered on, and a nice easy to read display. Much nicer than my plastic Cen-Tech one. Finally, a Stanley Eureka bevel in kinda rust shape.

The tool box was $5. Looks better in person. Haven't seen the snap on ones for awhile. The Russian night vision was $20 (too cool not to get).

Just picked these up for $10 each. Kennedy k20. No rust, just dirty. Littco vise (just because I like vise's and it's in very nice shape.). Wilton woodworking vice. Should clean up nice. Really heavy for it's size.

Pretty productive weekend, one garage sale of a retired body repair guy selling off some tools. Also hit two professional estate sale with one being a one day sale of almost all tools and the other a couple blocks away with all kinds of 1970's auto parts but surprisingly not much in the way of good hand tools as you would have expected looking at all the auto related stuff. Run into that occasionally where it looks like the typical hand tools went elsewhere before the sale and only specialty tools are left behind.

From the garage sale, William's SAE socket set, Snap-On SAE universal sockets and some MAC misc. sockets

From the garage sale a Blue Point SAE Tap& Die set missing a few pieces which I may those in my stash of extras and from the all tool estate sale Snap-On SAE hex key set of course missing a few pieces.

From the all tool estate sale, Knipex pliers, Vulcan wrench and 3/8 speeder, William' pry bars. All cheap since I'm typically a bottom feeder at professional estate sales.

I haven't been to the local flea market in three months because I've been busy building forest roads on our property. It was nice seeing many of the regular sellers, but some regulars were absent. I did find some stuff to bring home, and it didn't break the bank. The total was $89.25, but $30.00 of that was the trail camera.

Bonney (cv) 4085 1/2 dr. spinner (I have the short version already)
P&C 8" pipe wrench
6 tire valve extensions and a hose plug
Leather belt case with two loops. ?????
Spoon tray for my wife's picnic cooking collection
P&C "100" 2726 13/16 combo
Indestro 771 3/8 combo
Craftsman 9-40501 automatic center punch
Victorinox knife (stainless, and it took a good edge easily!)
Petersen 10 WR Vise Grips, like new, perhaps never used
Import deep impact sockets, 3/8 x 3/4 and 1/2 x 10mm
Whitman and Barnes drill stand, fractional
Williams #463 pin spanner
2 Victorinox key chain knives (TSA confiscations)
Tasco trail camera, unopened

Whitney Junior punch
Box of USA drill bits. Interesting box. 4-1/8 x 9-1/8 x 1-7/16 inches.
Assorted tap, tap handles, easy outs
All Power Deluxe ring groove cleaner

Photo #6: Whitney punch instructions. Note "almost a quarter of a century" and a start date of 1910 puts this in the early 1930's!

Red and Black. Ran out of picture room. Not suprisingly they are headed to the Post Office today and I am headed back to look for fill ins. Why do I think I'm gonna be over budget again?

Found 2 of the 4 missing sockets. I'll have to ebay a shallow and deep 8mm 6point...found a few loose wrenches, a cutsomized cotter pin puller/drift pin, and a set of laser etched C'man metrics.

Before the final quarter of the calendar year gets any older, I thought I would let everyone know the current Top 10 in this year's Suckage Ranking. Listed alphabetically:
  • 3jakes
  • bmwrd0
  • cmccuist1
  • Davefr
  • freudianfloyd
  • NYBODYMAN
  • Old Radar
  • Provincial
  • saukit
  • Seber
Remember, the individuals on the final version of this list will then vie for the coveted award of “Picker Of The Year” for 2022 and be entitled to all the honors and benefits occurring thereto. Voting will start on-or-about December 1st, so there’s still plenty of time to get out there and make those ****-worthy finds! And, FYI, there are several pickers nipping at the heels of these first ten so expect the lineup to be fluid.

What, you ask, can each of you do to help yourself decide who deserves your valuable vote?? The simple answer is this: Much like voting for those running for public office, you can look back over their history to see what they've accomplished and how that aligns with your vision of the Office of POTY. Open the search box in the header in the upper right corner of this page, click “Everywhere” and change to “This thread”. Next, in the field next to “By:” type in a candidate’s name and click Search. In the old system you got a read-out of the number of posts that person had made. In this system you have to do a little math. 20 posts per page x number of pages (last page will likely have less than 20)= total posts. This will give you an idea of how active the candidate is, but don’t squander your vote on bluster and verbosity alone—otherwise only one or two people would ever win (You know who you are… ). Go through that list you just created and see what kinds of finds they picked up and how suckworthy they were by your standards. Armed with knowledge, vote your conscience!

Think on it!!

Just admit it. You're putting up your Christmas decorations this weekend.

The real question is did he ever take them down... :ninja:

Speak of the devil and up they both jump!:evil:

As much as I'd love to pile it on, I can't throw those stones. I was taking my outdoor Christmas lights down in April one year (in my defense, it was a VERY snowy winter).

One of our neighbors, walking her dog, stops and says: "Getting ready for Easter, I see?"

Have fun on the trip, @Outlawmws. I'm sure you'll find TOOs along the way!

Mike
