There is about a half dozen or so Restores around here, about half of them are worth stopping at, the other half I don't bother with. Like the Jeff said, hit or miss.

On my way home from an out of town customer, I stopped at an “Antique Mall”. There weren’t many antiques as usual. But I did find this Stilson pipe wrench for $8.00. I’ve never seen a wooden handled pipe wrench in the wild before. It appears to be in good working condition. The handle apparently has a crack in it, thus the electrical tap.

In the left behind category is this aluminum Coleman Picnic Stove. It runs on LP and uses a can per-burner. Very different. I don’t think it was complete but it was in very good condition.

Wow, that IS different. Two separate LP feeds? How much was it, just out of curiosity?

it can be hit or miss. Yesterday, a dozen hammers but only 3 things in the pliers bin.
It hasn't been the same since the rona hit. It still gets good stuff, just not a frequently as before. With that said, Connie only charged me $1.00 for an SK 45170 3/8 ratchet a couple weeks ago, gotta love her. :) The ReStore on the west side hasn't had anything worthwhile the few times I've been there. The Eastlake one however, that one has some decent stuff. I've been there a couple times and haven't left empty handed once.

Estate sale, $40. Big P&C wrenches, some Plomb wrenches, Western Giant sockets, Powr-Kraft sockets, a few Williams wrenches and sockets, Wardsmaster pliers and socket, Sigg potholder, Surform, a cute chrome valve and wingnuts. Had a pair of Ford pliers, but sold them to a guy at the checkout for $2 because he was buying a couple of Ford wrenches.

Stopped at a garage sale on the way back and picked up a swingaway can opener and a couple of stainless meatball makers for $1.25

I have a single burner, and maybe the two burner. Looks complete to me. The singles came in pink too. There's a guy on ebay, or used to be, selling an adapter since the cans are NLA.

Well, I'm finally getting back in the game after what seems like a long dry spell.
A single Estate Sale--the PO was apparently a Jack-of-all-Trades. Shop was full of serious power woodworking tools, but also mechanic's tools and reloading equipment.
14 Oct 22a.jpg

- Yep, that's a Red Ryder BB gun. I haven't shot my eye out, yet. It's a newer 1938B model, made in China, but it was loaded.
- I saw the POUCH, MECHANIC'S TOOLS, and immediately thought of Lugz. I dumped the dreck that was in it out and put the rest of my haul in it. Looked up NSN 5140-00-329-4306 and found it is still "readily available" but hasn't been procured by the USG in over five years, so no idea how old it might be. It seems to be in really good shape.
- Craftsman =v= 15/16" Drag Link, 1/2" Ratchet Adapter, 1/4" Spinner and two Dunlap DOEs
- PL∇MB WF-78 3/4" Swivel, New Britain None Better 3/8" Ratchet Adapter and a Vlchek AV-4 4" adjustable (can't leave them alone!)
- Starrett No. 230 0-1" Micrometer
- Proto LA DOEs and Half Moon, Williams ignition, Barcalo DBE and Wright Hex bit socket
- Ratchet Handle screwdriver (no other name) seems to have been used as a chisel since the **** end is a little mushroomed
- Biggest Beehive screwdriver I've seen--15.5" OAL
- Puma Rambler lock knife--you should look that up on ebay--holy cow!
- Vintage Snap-on C-5 screwdriver set and No. PT-7 Magnetic Pick-up Tool and some JB Weld

BB Gun was $5 and everything else was $15.

There were two cans installed in the stove. I’m sure they were empty. It didn’t look like a safe setup with two cans of LP gas located directly under the two burners.

Damn, you were way ahead with the screwdriver kit from Snap On, now with the Puma you've added yet another item to keep an eye out for at sales.

Today was Yankee screwdriver day
From the same estate were two Stanleys with extra bits
an interesting Craftsman that contained butterfly drivers in the handle
and a third that contained drill bits

The same Gent had a ratcheting screwdriver with selectable fold-out tips and an interesting multi-nut driver among many other interesting tools

The Seller had all kinds of cool chit
For a buck a pop, I bought the Yankee drivers and these gizmos

The Seller was big on Gizmo tools
I saw the same style nut drivers before in one of the Vintage Nutdrivers thread, or maybe the Xcelite thread.....?

The fold-out ratcheting screw driver also looks familiar, but I can't place where

Wow, it takes a bit to catch up after ten days!

Have fun on the trip, @Outlawmws. I'm sure you'll find TOOs along the way!

Mike
And I did! more on that later
Well, if we're really going to stretch this out, there's a "JOY" sign on my house 24 x 7 x 365. But that's been very much intentional for many, many years. It's become our signature. :)

Lugz there is a tall building in Campbell CA, that has had "PEACE ON EARTH" lit up since the late 60's; at first for the holidays, then as the Antiwar thing got going year round. Its been pretty constant with just a few gaps since. I understand it's all upgraded to LED now.

What gauge is it?

Several of us have some, or at least one. 2 basic models, the "multi Blade like yours, and a 1/4" hex drive version, Lugz at least has or had a cased set.

Several people made the variable nutdrivers, I have one marked Jerrold, and I think a Yankee bit tool.

Your screwdriver was a Shelton versa.... Something. I have a screwdriver, socket driver, and an all flat bladed screwdriver, no Phillips. There is a Shelton or Versatool thread in the sticky.

I hit an estate sale on my way home from work on Thursday. It opened a day earlier than posted, but I saw the sign and checked. Not much there, but I picked up a few items:
Estate.jpg
Armstrong 1066L Long Combo 3/4
Armstrong 1164L Long Combo 5/8
Duro 86 ignition wrench 11/32
K-star #1, 3, and 4 ignition wrenches
K-star 3/16 ignition wrench
2 unbranded ignition wrenches, Eisman/Remy Wagner and Splitdorf/Eastcon
Special scissors that look like they are designed to cut round material. Does anyone know what they are for?
$4.00 total

Friday I stopped early at a multi-family sale. Relatively few tools, but I found a few worth taking home:
Rickreall Garage.jpg
3/8 square drive lathe chuck wrench stamped "UMCO" probably Union Mfg. Co., which made lathe chucks, among other things.
Cornwell DOE stamped "5/16 SAE", which should indicate early production
P&C 2818 DOE 1/2 x 9/16
P&C 6019 1/2 dr. 12-pt. socket 19/32 Rough, but I bought it because the & in the logo is the version I love!
"750 BATTERY TERMINAL WRENCH" 9/16 x 5/8 I haven't figured out the maker/brand yet. Any suggestions?
Herbrand No. 179 battery terminal pliers
$12.00 total

So I got into the town of McCloud last Sunday - I was told it was "Apple, Festival" weekend and they had a small Flea market - I guess just one day for that. but I did find 2 TOO's:

Mostly baby clothes and the like then I spotted a table off in the back (drive/parking area of an old shop) with tools. Likely an old timers family shop based on these tools and other things, I'm guessing these were used to keep the loggers trucks (Logging town and area) and equipment going? :dunno:

Set price was 2 bucks each for the tools I made an offer for 20 for my picks and it was easily accepted.

Plvmb empire combos, smooth and pebble Dual marked Plvmb/Proto, and a Proto LA:

YS 1 Plvmb Emp Combos.jpg

Plvmb, DBE's one is a WF

YS 1 Plvmb Emp DBE 1 wf.jpg

P&C and Hinsdale DBE's
:
YS 1 P&C & Hinsdale DBE.jpg

P&C Combo, and what is likely a Zenel DBE:

YS 1 P&C Combo Zenel DBE.jpg

And the Adjustables (That need a Evaporust bath) - Heller Masterench, Billings, the other little onr has an L" inside a Keystone and the S I need to clean up to get ti markings.:

YS 1 Adjutables.jpg

Second TOO had this for a buck:

YS2 GW 1.jpgO

Yes the Fry pan "Griswold"

YS2 GW 2.jpg

And found in the Forest a 50-60 of coil of Barbed wire:

Campng Artifacts Barbed wire.jpg

and a sign found on the ground in pieces at an abandoned campsight:

Campng Artifacts Campfire sign.jpg

I may frame this thing, despite its being almost 4 feet wide!

WOW the Beehive driver is awsome!
more on that later
I’m glad you’re back, Outlaw; I missed that item in OR’s post.
I was out for a few hours archery last weekend and another few hours muzzleloader yesterday. Nothing but the benefits of fresh air to show for it.B0DB5EBF-C32D-4852-9695-55D6AA2E1DAC.jpegF6461441-C463-416E-A890-DA57380F8EEA.jpeg

OR: 15.5” OAL…what is the blade length?
12” blade IS the largest Disston offered in that model. You should pose that with the shorter one and post on the Show Our Wood thread.

Afterwards yesterday, my son & I stopped at an antiques store, where I bought a Utica display box. (More pics here.)163AD932-2110-4EBE-B0A4-80EE642430F8.jpeg
Priced far less, and interesting enough, but this leftbehind Norlund tack puller/hammer caught my eye as well. I just lacked faith in the jaws.5FF422E6-5DE4-4215-AE17-87B6F80FE39A.jpeg If I find the shop open agin, I may buy it.

4 sales yesterday 2 were a bust/all the good pictured stuff gone, 2 were fair. First sale on a narrow street right on the lake yielded the bungie cord, the (franken) combo square, sockets from Craftsman,Matco and Bonney, C'man BP hammer, Cornwell ext., wrenches from TruTest and Bonney. Second sale netted the Crafstman 1/2" drive=v= sockets . Spend a fair portion of the day driving between sales along with HomeDepot and a local pub for a cheeseburgers with a pal.

Our restores in Delaware and Marion are rip off artists. They price everything on highest eBay price they can find.
Well, you know, they ARE trying to raise money for homeless people. At least, that's what I tell myself when I go in and behold high prices for used junk.

Speaking of going into a ReStore, I found myself near one on Friday, and stopped in.

I found a small stool for my home office, which I've been seeking for a while now. I also peeked in the tool bins, and found this Indestro #911 6-point double offset wrench and a Craftsman #3 Philips screwdriver. Got all three for $15.

$30 estate sale. The winner oddly enough is the Chase watering can (1173). Interesting items: Copper float ball; Craftsman adj. throat block plane (306-1); Rex grommet punch (#27); American Tool and Foundry 4 3/4" plane; Keen Kutter 6 1/2" wrench; Brown & Sharpe calipers; Lufkin steel tape 50'; Hanson die set; and a sh_t load of ball peen hammers, which I just broke mine and was hoping to find a replacement.

the Chase watering can (1173).
That belongs in a museum! :)
I think I'd be cleaning up the watering can a bit...and then throw back some patina
:+1:
Keen Kutter 6 1/2" wrench;
Also a nice find. I have a small KK collection, but the items are all odd (scissors, can opener, NOS razor blade packs, a cotter pin puller, and the seat from a hand cranked grinding stone). I wish I would run into a monkey wrench. They're not rare, I'm just unlucky so far.

LS, that was my week of hunting too, seeing the sights, with a full moon and unseasonably warm weather, I only saw 1 doe the whole time. Lots of sign, I may have seen a young mountain lion dashing off; definitely a cat lope - long tail, so not a bobcat.

I agree the watering can is cool! Better pics of it and the copper float?

Any branding on the body hammer and the little cross peen to its left?

Went to another sell today hoping to come home with a Kennedy carry box with the drawers. Got to the sell a few hours after it was posted and they were already cleaning up and 90% of the stuff had already sold. Box was already gone. The woman running the sell said one toolbox didn't sell so I checked it out expecting it to be in rough shape or something. Ended up getting it for $120 with everything in it along with a sledgehammer and a little carry box.
PXL_20221017_001246292.jpg
Snap On top box (couldn't find the stamp), Craftsman bottom box, plus a horde of Snap On, Mac, Proto, Plomb, Williams, etc tools and some specialty.

Also had a jump scare box like the spider boxes you'd scare the kids with except this one had two live mice.
