Wow! ending the year with a bang! Well done Alinc and OR! Both **** in major ways!

Nada here - complete rain-out, or at least no indoor ES's worth hitting.

Flare Nut Crowfoot Wrench Set (1965) (207S FRH is the number for the 6pt set--I couldn't find a 12pt set in the catalogs)
I have the same set. Came to me in the same styrofoam tray (and a blue and white paper sleeve) as you have there. It's not a one-off.

It was one of those days. Aside from driving way too far for too little, various idiocies going on in my state have annoyed me here at the end of the year. And the sales that looked quite good turned out to be wild goose chases. But, in any case, here is the too little:
52555181517_db0d3e4606_c.jpg
A box of 1/4"-20 screws and corresponding nuts, HSS tool steel, part of a Mitutoyo dial indicator stand (one of the annoyances), two Britool Whitworth combos, and a pair of Stanley sweetheart pliers. Oddly, I am most excited about the screws and nuts. These were exactly what I need for a project of mine, and at two bucks for good, older USA hardware I am quite chuffed, as the Brits would say! The DGS is one of the annoyances, as I didn't really pay attention to what I was buying (my fault, obviously) and now will need to fabricate half the machine, or repurpose it somehow.

I was a bit surprised after my inventory and write up that I had overlooked this ratchet adapter in my picking bundle. i thought at first glance it was broken, not realizing how it works:dunno: I went back out to my shop and grabbed it, with better glasses and lighting I discovered it was a Snap On .Apparently on Ebay it could get me 3x-4x what I paid for the entire lot. Can anyone tell me the proper model number?

I was wondering if you didn’t mention it on purpose. It’s the No. 6. Great find.
LOL, let's just say it was a lightbulb moment, when I realized not only that it wasn't broken, but also who made it. After typing the above I went and dug through GJ,found the link to collecting SnapOn and with your info of No.6 found the catalog pages. Amazing what help from smart people, a keyboard and coffee will get you on a Sunday Morning.

Those No. 6's can be quite nice if you like flipping. The last one I sold went for almost 100X what I paid for it. I still have one or two as they aren't that rare.

I’ve never seen one in the wild. They’re on Ebay every day of the year though. I bought one from a forum member at what I thought was a fair price considering it had damage.

This comment makes me remember the "what grabs your eye" posts someone was making here earlier this year. Someone posted some pics showing "displays" (large unorganized piles of stuff) at some garage sales, and we were supposed to report what we'd likely look at and/or buy.

Sort of a personality test, I'd say, LOL...

While not technically garage sale items. This is my Saturday score. Cabinets and drawers being tossed out by local municipality that I grabbed, snap on 1/2” to 3/4” torque multiplier and extension being tossed by a a local fire department, portapower, chain hoist from my brother and a bunch of random tooling given to me by a buddy that is slowing shutting down his business. All free! I tried to pay him something for the tooling but he said “bud it’s been on that back shelf for 5 years and I haven’t touched it, go make some chips and send me pictures!” Gonna clean up the cabinets and paint them. I’ve got a lot of stuff that I can finally sort and now have a good way to find things when I need them.

You wouldn't happen to remember the part number for the 12pt set, would you? Mine are from 1965 and all have individual FRHxxx numbers while their individual counterparts in the 6pt 207S FRH set from the 1970 catalog have the same numbers with an S suffix--FRHxxxS.

Did something similar for a sale I couldn't make but a friend did. Think I posted about the experience here in the spring.

Basically had him send me pics of the tables and tried making out what was what while on call with him(he's a tool ripper so he doesn't know brands beyond craftsman). Didn't go too well but he had me on speaker so the guy running the sale heard what I was talking about and pulled some stuff off the tables and grabbed some more stuff from his garage and made me a pile based on keywords(truck brands and brass mainly).

If all the 6pt hve a S suffix on each part, and the set also has an S, wouldnt the 12pt just be 207 FRH? Or am i missing something?

I've only seen one, and it was one of my best finds back in 2019, linked here... https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/2019-garage-sale-thread.411194/page-55#post-7815995

That was me. Flea market tables, though. I've done it before in years gone by. Always fun.

I go to estate sales mostly, and don't hit garage sales as often as I should unless they happen to advertise .I get daily email from Estatesales.net of sales in my area, and based upon location and pics I decide which sales to attend. I also try not to banter too much with the pros running the sale if I happen to find PLOMB,HAZET,BONNEY wrenches/tools in the $1 bin while Craftsman and Snap On are under glass. I don't want them to know that the 'oddball' brands can be quite valuable. The seller from yesterdays haul has a sign "Unless marked all hand tools are $5 each" which I think throws folks off. When I take my bag o goodies to the cash out table ,he will peek in and suggest a price that saves us both the counting/itemizing.And it's well under the $5/per cost.

I do the same; mostly hit estate sales, and buy all over the map, tool wise. The all seem to know Snap-on and Craftsman, some are getting wise to Proto/Plomb, but the older brands go unremarked. I have even been know to buy cheap junk to throw off the sent, so to speak.

My area pretty much only has garage sales(some would be considered estate sales, everything goes including the house, but aren't listed any different).

Usually I talk to the people running the sales a good bit about what I'm looking for or whatnot while making a pile because it seems at least locally people give better deals if you know what something is instead of just it's brand(basically retired mechs and family of passed mechs, rather see it used/appreciated than on eBay). Plus alot remember something not in the sale that they're happy to sell. Have had a decent amount of purchases go from eBay prices to next to nothing after talking a bit.

With my piles, I usually end up with a bundle deal but it's a mix of buying a lot and being friendly(occasionally a touch of sellers just wanting it gone before the sale is over).

It's very possible--both that you are right and that you may be missing something! :ROFLMAO:
I can never assume anything about Snap-on's naming convention. Sometimes it's straight forward and sometimes arcane. That's why I was hoping someone could provide definitive info on this particular set.

Based on their markings, mine are also from 1965. My sleeve was torn and the tray was packed with spent grease, so I tossed those shortly after purchase and put the sockets on an A277. Did not record the set number.

I just checked through the 1965 catalogs over at frankmurch.com. Did not find any answers.

Well boys I dunno where to begin showing y'all what happened to me today...

So there I was checking the local CL tools section as one does and in a drawer of a little $15 shop made table I spy something in the tell tale Starrett red with white font. I dig in, screenshot the pic and zoom, still can't tell. Well it so happens today is the day I have a sitter for my Pop and I actually have a few hrs to myself. Well for $15, I really don't care what it is, its Starrett and it's a good drive and I'ma go get it.
After about 10 min of speaking with the lady in charge she says it's her 90yr old Father's shop they are dismantling and there would be other things for fire sale prices. I tell her I'll be there at 1.
I get there and see the thing I came for, it's just a decimal chart but very cool and I make an offer on workbench/toolbox thing that I think I can use. She accepts and disappears for a few minutes and comes back with her Father, very nice to meet you sir, I says.
She proceeds to make me an offer I cannot refuse but not in the Brando sorta way. She says for $125 I can go downstairs to the shop proper, and take whatever I want. Now I have spent what $30 and $15, $45 dollars already so I'm well on my way to almost being there. I say lemme take a look and we'll go from there.
I spent the next 4hrs digging and boxing up and hauling out to the car any and everything I wanted from this man's dang near meticulous shop. There were no machines left but lemme tell you, I brought home piles and piles of vintage Craftsman (some may as well have been NOS), hand tools, like 20lbs of brand new drill bits, piles and piles of Nicholson files, some kind of crazy *** super old school arc welder, a super vintage possibly short wave? radio, several calipers (mostly no name but one or two VERY interesting, an old Union tap drill chart, on and on. My favorite thing so far is a super old Brown and Sharpe 0-.5" ratcheting mic. That's zero to half inch y'all. I even brought home 2 pool cues and what the hell does one put a hole in 4ft away? Cause I now have a 4ft drill bit.
Of course I will try and post the gems I know about, I still haven't made it to the bottom of all the drawers and boxes. Right place, right time I guess.

That's part of it, some I've dispersed already and some is still in the car. Taps and dies, pocket knives, nib style pens, proto ratchet, Craftsman wrenches and sockets, a rotozip, old school Craftsman sander, yards and yards of emory cloth, tube cutters, boxes of jewelry making stuff, lubes and shop fluids.
And get this, an old safe, and I mean it's super old, it's got what looks like the Revolutionary war USA eagle on it. I couldn't fit it, I'm picking it up next day or two. I'm beat and going to bed, holy hell boys.

Hah. This is the sort of thing that warrants a well-intended "You ****!" at 3:10 in the morning.

You might spot even more things on the second visit with fresh, rested eyes. Congrats on the ongoing high.

That's part of it

Ahhh, nothing like a big score! You definitely ****! And by the looks of your living room/storage area, you and your Pop can take your time, hopefully unmolested, to sift through hoard. Congratulations!

I'd also like to take a moment to publicly thank @tooljunkie4 for coming up with confirmation that my SO 12pt crowfoot set is designated "207 FRH".

And to
@Cruzan80, it turns out you weren't missing anything after all!
