I am wondering what, if anything, are people looking for, wanting to do, or anything else about our odd, little hobby.

I will join the crowd who are looking to sell off some of their accumulated treasures, in my case ones I bought specifically to re-sell but never did. Even though I built a second garage in 2017, I once again have to turn sideways in places to move through either of them. Seeing as how I've slowed my estate sales purchases to nearly nil over the last year, I really have no excuse for the clutter.

That's my New Year's resolution. I set no other parameters on it so that I can have all year to break it.

My money is on you. Anyone else want in on this, LOL?

Mike
Ha ha , no way am I taking that bet( or maybe should I?). Last time I got ready to clean/ organize I ended up responding to a Craigslist add for 1 tool box and ended up buy an entire contents of 2 garages. I was sorting for weeks before I had a big tool sale😂. It was pretty fun and I made money

I don't know if all y'all are using the Mayan, Zoroastrian, or Vikram Samvat calendars, but there are four (4) days left in the year 2022, and three (3) of them are flea market days!t
Absolutely correct! I don't know what the rest of you slackers are thinking, but you're supposed to expend the last of your energy reserves in the kick just before the end of the race!

@bmwrd0, Beemer, your Major Award is in the mail! It's snail mail--USPS Ground--due to the highly volatile nature of the watered down ethanol contained in the Wild Country cologne and whatever the other fragrance is.
I PM'ed you the tracking number vs. posting it here so as not to temp any porch piracy from envious thread members in your area!
Congratulations once again!

Picked these up this morning. Local machine shop was clean out and had these listed for 60 each. I offered 100 and he carried them out to the car for me! He’s got more stuff that I bought but it’s buried in his store room. I’ll get it after the first of the year. 6” made in tiawan and an 8” x 10” throat with swivel base made in Japan.

Picked this lot up today for $50 off Craigslist. 3/8 rhft, complete run of chromed Craftsman ( plomb made) circle U 3/8 sockets, long c deep 3/8 sockets with most of their blo coating still intact. I had the missing sockets for the Long C set and got them set into my long c top chest

Hmm. I don't know about that. This "race" never ends, it just gets a new thread every year, the 2023 thread starts on a Sunday (i.e., a flea market day), and I will need some energy to vie for First Haul honors again, probably with @3baygarage! I have found the best gear to be "S" for Steady. :)

No tools on this morning's flea market trip (Lugz 2022_60), but I did find this pretty cool garage-related piece. I should've taken a photo of the whole table. All kinds of collectible magazines and novelty bric-a-brac. If it wasn't signed and with a title on the bottom, I might've thought it was folk art, but as it turns out with a little googling, L. Kersh was a minor sensation in England and worldwide with these "Horological Collages" in the early 1970's, all various antique cars, all made with watch or clock parts.

Yup, starts Sunday. Getting my opening post all polished and set to hit post. It will have a historical theme mixed with humor to it and hopefully everyone picks up on that 😉

Managed to escape out of work early enough to his the sale I mentioned up the page. A fair amount of the pictured items were gone but a quick dig revealed plenty of Craftsman =v= and -v- . The neatsfoot oil and a Blackhawk-Armstrong tappet were the only outliers. Another sale popped up for tomorrow, but I'll really have to sneak out to hit it,or follow up with Saturday morning. It's likely to be empty by then. Not quite sure of why an estate sale company would be only be open 10am to 3pm

I was able to swing by the Restore today, seeing that not much is going on sales wise other than that:
52594863575_ff3215e0a0_c.jpg
Blue Point 1-1/4" combo dated '48, Thorsen spinner, Greenlee brace countersink, and Blackhawk Nugget sparkplug socket.
And, on the first of the year is the local swap meet. I hope to run into Provincial, and maybe Oregon Rock Crusher, along with good deals!

We’ll see if I get out this weekend. I almost always want to be doing that rather than _____(insert activity here). In other news, I found a pawn shop with a mouth watering amount if tools! The tool inventory looked highly unmolested for the most part. Sadly, no sooner did I find a Craftsman C-series 9/32 drive socket than it was dropped by the cashier into the “behind the counter abyss”. Probably landed inside someone’s bong or behind a stack of old Britney Spears cds. They couldn’t find it anywhere. I wanted to dive over the counter and look. Oh well. :dunno:I asked her to hold it for me if found. She proceeded to give me a pretty nice deal on my finds, I just didn‘t get any pics yet. Definitely need to get back there because I didn’t get to see everything due to time.

Well I am hoping I just lucked into find of the year. What appears to be a Lista set of drawers on Facebook Marketplace for $100. Really bad blurry picture. I said I would take it and am meeting him to dig it out of his storage unit tomorrow morning. I will update this post with the result, either bad or good, when I get it home.

Decent haul (Lugz 2022_62) from the flea this morning.

2022_61.jpg
2022_61C.jpg2022_61B.jpg

- Not sure about the application for the vintage maroon resin field helmet (unmarked, OD green canvas webbing inside), but it will clean up nicely.
- Big old tailors' shears, guessing Wiss based on the shape of the bolt cap, can't see a marking under the slathered black paint. (Bought almost entirely because the new 'Shears & Scissors' thread down on the VB has been short on examples with these big fancy finger guards, and I'm a little curious if my guess on mfgr is right.)
- JO Mfg JOBE flare nut torque wrench.
- 1920's Simplex ratchet wrench (Motor Tool Specialty sold them along with Snap-on and Blue-Point items) and much later Snap-on ratcheting wrench found in the same box.
- Bonney CV tappet wrench (I have a full set in pouch, but others are always looking).
- Plomb 3316 electrical wrench.
- Uncommon wartime 1/2-drive adaptor with an FSN ("41-B-307") stamp. (I already have one, but it will make be easily turned into cash or trade.)

Some LEFT-BEHIND's. I was never interested in buying the old plumbers' box, just a posterity shot (Pic 1) with all kinds of weird-shaped irons and lead and oakum mixing pots. I was tempted by the Zim in box valve lapper with vintage compound, but I already have a couple (Pics 2, 3, & 4). Warehouse trolley is completely impractical for me, just cool to see (Pic 5).

Rain in the forecast for tomorrow so that was very likely my last pick of the year.

I had the honors for First Haul of the Year for the thread (Lugz 2022_01) back on January 1st, including the oldest Wiggy I have ever seen, and I'm happy to close out my year with that helmet, bigass shears, Simplex wrench and hard-to-find GMTK extension in my last haul (Lugz 2022_62), but it will be interesting to see who gets the Last Haul of the Year for the thread honors.

My year wouldn't be complete without another dose of Rookie Mistake Reverb Humility, so I will close my report for today with a quick self-deprecating (fancy word for I'll be kicking myself in the *** all day) story.

I was looking at a Wostenholm Sheffield pocket knife with fiber or maybe rubber scales. I knew what it was. Probably WWII. It was missing the marlin spike and it was really beat up and worn with no visible date or MOD crowfoot on the back of the can opener blade. The vendor only wanted $10 for it. But I had just gotten there, I hadn't made the rounds yet, I only had $38 in my pocket, and I didn't want to be down to $28 before I had a chance to see what else I might be interested in. I didn't think it would be gone when I came back. Wrong!

My last pickup of the year.
An Ideal saw with a lifetime supply of blades (10) looks like all the blades are unused
Number on the saw is 35-280 and the saws blades are 35-281
I can’t find anything about them on line. Any ideas of age?
Thanks and have a great new year!!

I have been completely unsuccessful finding a tool-infested flea market in PR, from San Juan to Ponce…but I finally found some NFS tools on display at the tastey Don Q distillary tour. 2AD82770-5E50-42B1-A5A7-06FD35CB3B00.jpeg642446BA-D84C-4E5D-B0AC-BFD887B7BC30.jpeg
The 24” Stillson is a PEXTO (thinking of Outlaw). I could not ID the DOE, but then noticed this crusty Barcalo (for Don). 199E62A4-CCFE-438E-87B8-97819EF4AC8F.jpeg
Loved the replacement handle on the ballpeen, too!

But the biggest treat was the tapones extractor!
