Don't you hate it when you go to a Garage sale and there's a vintage tool there that you have no use for whatsoever but you have to have because the price is just too good ? At least it was to me . $15 . The stand was worth that much to me. And it runs .

This is the sale 1 haul today. Lots of carpentry tools there.

Misc. Stanley, Columbian vise, mallets, pair of old Mayhew chisels, Craftsman, Nicholson, B&D booklet, Champion nippers minus a jaw, Wakefield bicycle wrench, old Yankee stubby ratcheting screwdriver, thread chasers,other odds & ends.

My area got 4 inches of rain in 2 hours Tuesday and 4 more on Thursday, any more like that and we may need FEMA LOL.

Sale 2 finds, except the 1/2” box with speeder from sale 1. Might be unmarked Duro.

Mostly auto tools, some wood chisels and odds n ends. Lots of rusty stuff there. Upper left corner is all Snap-On, Blue-Point, Par-X.

Some Wizard 3/8 sockets, Williams 3/4 ratchet. Assortment of 3/8 and 1/2 ratchets,sockets, extensions. Plomb speeder. A 3/8 L handle I can’t see a name on. Vise grips, random pliers. Ford and Diamond wrenches. Mossberg multi wrench & torque wrench. Pair of Vaco offset screwdrivers. Frank Luxem crate openerm and then some.

The grind off adjustable is a Proto or p&c. If you look in the ground off area sometimes you can see the outline of the brand.

Two deals in one day!

I spent $12 at a garage sale for the two Crescent needle nose pliers, flush cutter, snap ring pliers and four Pittsburgh screw drivers (a large one was already put away), and $40 at a bike shop close out sale, for USA made Craftsman metric wrenches (darn it’s missing the 15mm), Craftsman screw drivers and Stanley screw drivers (one of them wood handles).

I was looking for an 18mm wrench and stubby screw drivers so - mission accomplished. Most of these being USA made (except the Pittsburgh stuff) and at a decent price (hopefully?) was nice!



I cleaned up a few of the screw drivers with my new (to me) Mac Tools/Baldor bench grinder, bought for $25 a few days ago (and already posted about in the vintage bench grinder thread).

$205 3 toolbox purchase. Had to take all 3; snap on and mac sets were scattered throughout them. Nice MAC road chest, Craftsman commercial hand box, and cheap plastic box full. Complete 1/4" Snap-on metric socket set, 3/8" Snap On metric impact set, long pattern Snap-on wrenches, 2 pair Snap-on pliers, old vise grips, and lots of cheap tools.

Already sold import tools and plastic box for $175; Have 2 boxes full non truck brand tools and CM box left sell. Should make profit and get keep MAC and Snap-on stuff, MAC box, and a few other nicer items for free.

Spent couple hours, took MAC box drawers out, degreased, pressure washed, derusted, re-assembled and lubed and have nice box hold some vertical mill tooling.

The last sale worth mentioning was in El Cerrito and I bought a bunch of early DBE wrenches. Barcalo wartime wrenches in three sizes (all GMTK correct), four identical early war wrenches with the early “taxi” numbering system, a large Plomb pebble wrench, early S-K and Williams wrenches.

Flea Market picks this morning. Nothing I really needed or wanted but stuff that I felt was too good to leave. And was interesting.
4” adjustable, lufkin rule, craftsman UJoint and 3/8” Allen, SK Wayne 1/2” deep, mac 7/16 deep, Mac no 2 Phillips, antique flat head, craftsman wrenches, Snap on wrenches, old school Craftsman ratchet, proto 3” extension, and Craftsman 43174 RHFT. Let me know if you collect the antique screwdrivers or see something you need.

Yup, i’d say you are spot on with P&C, they ground it off deep, at the same auction I saw many other definitely pendleton brand tools with the names ground off.

I'm in the same boat with you, BB. Not much in the way of sales, so here is my assessment of my fellow sailor's hauls:

3bay ***** for his metal-heavy purchases--especially the 1/2" socket box. Does the little stacked DOE set next to it have a brand?

fishwatcher ***** for his MAC labeled Baldor 1/3hp grinder. I have the same under the Baldor brand and use it almost daily. It's a gem.

Another testament that P.T. Barnum was dead on. Congrats and You ****.

Don ***** for his large and pretty darn clean hauls!

And to Bluebolt, I hope the Bandit Shed's roof was able to "shed" all that rain! The deluge here washed away half of last week's hard work in the backyard.

Went to two tool estate sales today in different cities by my two favorite companies. First sale still had a loaded garage, last day of sale. Ran into two of my favorite flea market tool sellers there.

I combed over every nook and cranny for anything of interest. The item I wanted in photos was gone but found a nice pile. Price given was dirt cheap and without looking at my pile.

Second sale was super loaded with tools, huge outbuilding shop. Boxes and trays of tools everywhere. Seemed like the kind of guy with a different tote or box for each task. Most were well used and well weathered, not collector stuff but found lots of scattered Snap-On and other USA.

Found this gem in a tray at the back of the shop. My first 4x6 Crescent! From last weekend's finds to this somebody please pinch me.

In the past few weeks I found a 4" Herbrand, Utica, and a different Utica, now this which was on my wanted list forever. I hope the streak continues.

As I mentioned the Bandit Shed deal is I clean it out and take it down and dispose of all materials. My payment is I get to keep everything I find. There was a large water jug of pennies hiding behind other stuff, I checked with owner and was told it was mine. I transferred the pennies to gallon milk jugs for easier weighing and handling. 91 pounds of pennies! After putting them through my credit unions coin sorter for free it came up to $157. I've got about 40 hours of work in this so far and probably double that to go. It will take me a few more weeks. There are still a few goodies to come and probably a surprise or two!

yer haul from the bandit shed may very well go down as THE "you ****" of the year.

I asked how much for an item for my wife. I was told $2. I added in a Crowntop key ring screwdriver… when I cashed out, it was both for $2.

When I left, there were a few very lightly used Action wrenches for the Thorson collectors.
