The flea market was packed this morning! I haven't been out in so long I almost felt like a rookie, a little overwhelmed and a tad off my game, which is always a fine, dynamic balance of time, ATR lenses (keep, flip, general interest/research/education), and left front pocket budget (this week, $37), but I did manage to snag a few goodies (Lugz 2023_12).

20230518_100355.jpg

- B.S.A. motorcycle kit wrench
- Robert self-adjusting wrench
- Plomb 4749 ratchet
- Cochran adjustable pipe wrench (for those who may not know it, this is a GJ owner and administrator ancestor, hence the patent blueprint background on the site)
- GMTK double offset screwdriver
- BHM heavy duty machinists screwdriver
- K&F flat file frozen in metamorphosis into becoming a babbit scraper. (Perfect specimen for a Lugzsonian history lesson show n' tell)
- Indestro script logo pliers
- Official the other B.S.A. wallet

Doing some more sorting out of boxes, I can probably make up another Williams 3/4 drive set. The ratchet works well a little bit of Armstrong, Craftsman and other brands. Does anyone know what those things are in the upper left corner? Second photo has a better view.

I was a bit disappointed when I plugged the Rockwell 14" drill press (DP225 casting number) from the Bandit Shed
in and it didn't work. A bit of troubleshooting and the art deco Cutler Hammer switch was bad 😢 so I put in a light switch for temporary use and it works!

Lots of suckage from new members--welcome!

I'm now oh-for-three at my local ReStore, and may just take it off my TOO stop list. Everything is priced at high-Facebook-Marketplace prices. Even ugly, rusty Plomb DBE wrenches are $8 each, individually marked.
They must be selling, because the inventory keeps changing, but I can't imagine who's paying these prices...

Went to roughly 10 sales, a lot of knick knacks trash, 2 sales were worth going to but a lot of them were close so I just walked there to check them out.
IMG_1158.jpeg
Got this box for $3, thought the box was neat, the sale was terribly organized, everything was in roughly organized piles of **** in a very gross garage.
IMG_1155.jpeg
This stuff was all $5. This sale made me a bit mad, they advertised they had tools, signs said “TOOLS” in big letters, a sign on the wall that said tools, but when I asked about them they said “oh we haven’t gone through those yet, they will be at a different sale in different town some time in the future.” They let me look a bit but the guy was just standing in front of the big tool box, so I couldn’t look much :(. But what I got is pretty good, my brother already snatched the proto screwdriver for his collection.

Here’s some of the stuff cleaned up.
Don’t think I did to bad for an $8 day!

Took a bit of time to try and organize this first pickup load. Not sure where to put it to hide it from the spouse, or if its worth keeping or maybe trying to resell. New kid on the block... is it ok to post this many pictures in a row? I can condense the contents of the pics in the future. Fuel Pressure tester, valve spring compressor, pry bars, levels, squares, vise grips, taps, over 50 screw drivers of various brands, and files of all sizes.

So today I actually finished cleaning out the Bandit Shed. I have a lot of boxes to sort through and post yet but I thought I was DONE with new finds. Wrong!!! There's a dog kennel and run that has a Craftsman band saw and Delta radial arm saw that I need to get as well. The dog 🐕 run is overgrown and I hadn't been back there and decided to check them out. And that's when I found out there was a small shed with stuff on the back of the dog run!!! I pulled out a few things that caught my eye 👁 This wooden military box was some kind of pneumatic float repair kit? It had a variety of goodies in it including some Starrett in decent condition. Anybody know more about those Hubbard wedges? For logging? Here's photos!

At the Bandit Shed place I grabbed 3 more items from the dog run, a Sun tachometer, a military aircrew emergency parachute and a tractor seat. As soon as I opened that cardboard drum I recognized the colors for an aircrew parachute. It's probably a 24 foot diameter chute.

Hit the flea (Lugz 2023_13) on my way to work this morning.

20230519_110320.jpg

- Small Parmelee pipe wrench. (I have a much bigger one in the Lugzsonian already. One more and it's a collection.)
- PLVMB spud wrench
- Williams spud wrench (in a size I think I needed for the Williams set)
- Williams DOE wrench with "DEXTER" (mill customer) on the shank

I got what ever this thing is for $3
The end cap threads off and the foot part swivels like a c clamp

Edit- internet says it’s an old bumper jack, unfortunately it seized up and won’t extend

Today's freebies. The Williams C clamp screw is froze up. Whats my best bet to unseize it?
Couple other things were iron city mattock, no name single bit axe head, old rake and pitchfork.

I would have gladly taking all that stuff. I use most of the chemicals they have, and those oil cans are cool.
This is the ******** I didn’t want.

My **** is good ****… their **** *****…

Still working through the 1st pickup load from the old mechanic. A SnapOn storage cabinet, wrenches, pliers, snips, and torque wrenches. One of the torque wrenches is a Chrysler, which is something I haven't seen before.

I would have taken the "****" too. I see a roll of UF cable and a craftsman ratchet right off the bat. That's good enough "****" for me, lol.

Not much of interest in the way of sales in this part of the world, but on Thursday I spotted a listing for an early sale with an interesting mix: linens, typewriter, RV supplies, and vintage tools. So I ended up getting there a few minutes after start. Here is what I picked up
52909600873_c3abaf4d8f_c.jpg
Most of what he had for sale, I was either uninterested in, or already had. But he did have a very nice Stanley 36G 24" level, and a 3" slick. Not the cheapest, but a much better price than eBay.

There was some other good stuff in there too.

I had plans this evening that I just got home from.

There was a couple hundred pounds of mostly things I didn’t want… and two people working there were helping me clean it off… and I had to disassemble it to get it in my car… I had enough to do without looking through that stuff…

I found this stenciled underneath. I haven’t found anything on the internet about Bohn-Davis Columbus Indiana.

We spent the afternoon fighting Bay Area traffic, for the most part. The first sale was in San Leandro and netted a few pieces. An S-K combo, a disfigured Vlchek shorty DBE, Camron longnoses and round tip Utica pliersIMG_8957.jpeg
The next two sales in Walnut Creek were two houses apart and put on by the same company. Sale two part one had a large Crescent slotted screwdriver, an early Stanley #3 Phillips, a Plomb? Screwdriver with VERY faint markings, a couple Craftsman screwdrivers and two unmarked wood handle drivers IMG_8958.jpeg
Sale two part two had a very cool Navy marked grease gun, a screwdriver that appeared to have mixed plaster, a nice pre Stanley Yankee, Starrett dividers, Powr-Kraft and P&C sockets and some Klein groove joint pliers IMG_8959.jpeg
I took the plaster covered screwdriver on as a challenge and spent way too much time on an unmarked screwdriver. IMG_8977.jpegIMG_8976.jpeg
Cleaned up the Crescent screwdriver a little. IMG_8970.jpegIMG_8971.jpegI’ll post more details in the Vintage forum.

Wow, am I seriously the only one who remembers this???
