Extremely rare Thursday ES for me today. Tons of stuff and tons of tools and the weirdest tract house I've ever been in! Garage door was stuccoed over and garage converted to a room; the kitchen downstairs was sink counter only and apparently converted in to a "Crafts room"; a "New" (but very old) kitchen was added upstairs? and a detached garage added in the back, (where most of the tools were) and a "something" room tack on the back of the house Swimming pool was empty and had been for years (except for the remnants if rain water) several door had 2-3" step up/downs adn everyone was tripling on those...

Two tool box stacks were "All or nothing" and one bottom was locked shut?

But I found a few things:

Couple of hammers -We all know what the big one is, but the small one (with a REALLY long handle) is an oddity - someone was clearly a body man, I left other body tools.
ES1 DD adn odd small head hammer.jpg

Handles at lest by MAC:

ES2 MAC handles.jpg

Crescent 4" wire formers, Blue point Snap ring pliers, and 2 mini Vise grips, one of which desperately needs an E-Rust bath... (Frozen)

ES3 Crescent Wire form BP snap ring, 2 mini VGs.jpg

Matco Drivers; two are definitely marked:

ES4 Matco.jpg

#3 is a different shape and no markings, but the receiving end of the grips are identical:

ES5 Matco.jpg

4" leather sheath, and a "Surgical Kit" - mixed brands, some from Pakistan but probably the nicest Pakistani work I've seen.

ES6 Surgical, and Sheath.jpg

Last was a metal "Viking ship", I asked how much (It was at the register table - My tab was @30) and she said "Still thirty!". OK! if you look close, they "mixed Metaphors", and included 2 skull and crossbones -only about 7 centuries after the vikings!

ES7 Viking.jpg
Man you always find body hammers/tools. I have yet to find a body hammer at a sale. The "odd" hammer is a stubby pick hammer. They make them with a regular sized handle and this longer handle. It's a good medium use bumping hammer and the long handle gets you in hard to reach places.

I need that curved hammer for the door skin I'm currently replacing on my 55 GMC!
You definitely don't want to use that big hammer for a door skin. You will destroy it. Use a door skin hammer and a rubber dolly or a small block of wood.

Found this today at the 127 yard sale for 10 dollars....couldn't walk away from it
**You get a **** for this one!**

And home to a stunning and unparalleled number of famous, popular vintage renowned high quality toolmakers, including Vlchek, Fairmount, Herbrand, Cornwell, Wright, MAC, and Ridge. Its location gives Ahia an interesting diverse character, from hillbilly to midwestern to maritime (a literally Great Lake :)). But seriously, does Ohio or California or New York or Texas or anyplace any of us call home need defending? Are we really going to start commenting on subjectivities like assessments of states? Is there an objective ranked lists of states floating around that I don't know about? They're all great. And they all have some issues. Not on my watch! This isnt 'Free Parking'.
**Agreed and reinforced**

**PSA Announcement- All posters please refrain from any type of negative commenting on another members posting content...this could include finds, price paid, location, state etc. Everything has positives and negatives to to it and with the unrelenting amount of "haterade" the world drinks/dishes out today, we need safe areas where we can come share and post and not have to defend our selves :).

Well, I was told to post this up here. This was my Marketplace find of the summer, and first box. $150 for the Cornwell box and sidecabinets, then $100 for all the tools with it. There’s plenty more you haven’t seen. Snap-On, Cornwell, Craftsman, and Wizard for complete socket sets, then various other incomplete sets in that gallon ziplock. Two Snap-On ratchets and a good set of Cummins punches.

Bonus - the Craftsman toolbox at the end with 4 ratchets - including one Snap-On. Also a 1/2” set of Craftsman standard sockets, and the two 1/4” boxes. All that was $30 on Marketplace.

I spoke too soon @Outlawmws. Went to an estate sale and found this Fairmount auto body heel dolly buried in a cabinet and the vintage baseball spikes. The "money guy" told me $10 for both and most is because of the cleats. They are worth a lot he said. The "hunk of metal" as he called it was basically thrown in. It amazes me that these estate sale companies just have no clue sometimes. I will be flipping the heel dolly since I already have 2 😎. Just haven't decided if I should clean up the cleats or leave them and if I do what to clean them with. PXL_20230805_174758114.jpgPXL_20230805_174822936.jpgPXL_20230805_174806430.jpg

Saddle soap for cleaning the leather, stiff nylon bristle brush on the soles, Treat the leather with neatsfoot oil (try hard to get the rel deal, not the fake "blends" - If you can't get the Neatsfoot use Mink oil)

Jack is a Badger. Couldn't find anything on them beyond they exist and there's an abundance(in better shape) for sale. Trying to decipher the pliers still. Oiler is back in action with some WD-40 and ratchet is awaiting a gear.

A pretty dead Saturday for me.
A development sale with most homes displaying pink, knickknacks & golf clubs.
Then 2 church rummage sales where the last one also had their members selling personal stuff in the parking lot.
Was able to pick up this worked hard but still working 1996 Snap-on long handle FL830 for $15.00

A small find this week. Oddball ball pein hammer for $2. Starrett #20 square - $8. Toy cannon $10. Apparently the cannon is functional using some kind of concoction of water and magnesium with a flint style ignition.

Good day for planned and TOOs, and one of the best block sale participations I've seen in years (missed a deal on a small oak machinists box full of tools...), but super slow for finds:

3 estate sales too!

ES 1: a small clamp-on vise, only mark I can find is No. 663 on the main screw head - 1-7/16 jaws - Free!
EDIT: I think this may be a Goodell-Pratt based on the Vise Spreadsheet?

ES1 No 66 vise.jpg

ES 2 - a Rabbit Fur: interesting as it has the name of one of my first working bosses (Upholstery shop), but after asking, no relation.

ES2 Rabit Fur.jpg

Two car models, boxes water damaged, but seem to be all there. The T-Bird is the same model series as my second car, a 1960 Bird - a buck each:

ES2 Models.jpg

The Decal sheet went to **** on the instructions:

ES2 T-bird.jpg

1935 Auburn:

ES2 Auburn.jpg

Last ES - was semi decent:

ES3 Bass box 1.jpg

More than $3 worth inside:

ES3 Bass box 2.jpg

ES3 Bass box 3.jpg

Probably the most valuable find; a SIGG-Tourist nesting pot and stove wind deflector set. (no stove but I have several SEVA 123's) Two whole dollars...

ES3 Sigg T 1.jpg

and the inside - the small "pot" is the stove stand and wind deflector holder, the next one down is the wind deflector and either pot will lock onto the wind deflector. the handle/griper was MIA for the pic, but I have it:

And one TOO YS, 4 new moving pads. I have lots of pads but for $2 ea, I picked up 4 - My dad (Moving industry most of his working life) would have called these "skins" compared to the larger thicker, moving pads.

Y1 Pads.jpg

And part of last Thursday's estate sale: the mini "Welding"vise grip's post an E-rust bath, That also unlocked them:

It's a carbide cannon. I'm pretty sure you can still buy fuel for it. That one is probably from the 50s.

How is it's rebound? (drop a large steel ball bearing on it does it bounce back well? or go "Thud")

My unofficial test with the ball side of a ball peen hammer reveals some rebound and a bit of a ring. Certainly doesn't have that classic blacksmiths anvil sound but I wouldn't call it a thud either. I will have to locate a decent ball bearing and give it the drop test. Also will test a few pieces of train track I have lying around just to compare. Thanks for the suggestion and info.

Rebound is much more important than "ring". Some anvil makers (Vulcan for example), deliberately made the top and body different so it would have more of a thud sound, but still have a good rebound.

My dad had one of those cannons when I was a kid. There was some paste he put in the little scoop of the ignitor. Made an impressive boom. Good memories.

Those screwdrivers are IR era so a bit too new for my collecting interest but I would have to pick those up and put them in my collection! Well done.

Hear, hear! Hang together, or hang separately.
I’ve been in 37 States, plus Puerto Rico, and love them all. MrsLS is one up on me - TX - and we are in the early stages of planning a trip to CA.
Let me add Lectrolite, Defiance, O., to the vintage list for its proximity to the 127 guys.

Lasting pliers by Wynn?

Thanks for the help! Was thinking it was something weird like WARWYNN or WACWYNN and Google lense only brought up nameless cobblers pliers.

Two confirmations is always better than one.
