On Thursday (we were so young...) I was able to get out and hit a couple sales, with good results:
53097375124_48fdc9896c_b.jpg
I hit around four sales, and while only half of them had anything interesting, it was good stuff, and all of it only costing a dollar per! Plomb and Proto LA flat heads, Stanley ball pein, Union 6" square, and SK roto head came from the first good sale, although someone was an engraver..., and the rotary tool box and USN pouch were from another. The last stop I hit that day produced a bit of paper:
53096720047_f09eb22cc9_b.jpg
The puzzle book is from '28, the wood products catalog is '41, and the benchsaw etc. is a Walker Turner manual from '38. These were more than a buck each, as they kept going on about how old they were. I did talk them down a lot from $5 each that they started with. The Mitutoyo box is the one thing I found at a Friday sale, and while empty, I couldn't leave it behind.

On Saturday, I was able to make it (finally) to this years Steam Up, which, if you are not famililar with it, is a huge fair celebrating the early days of mechanization in Oregon, featuring steam tractors, tractors in general, early autos, a steam powered blacksmith shop, steam trains (with rides on the garden sized railroad) etc. And, best of all, is a swap meet! Now, it was the second day of the second weekend, so picked through a little bit, but great for deals as no one wants to bring things home.
53096647532_1c4320b2bf_b.jpg
from a bunch of sellers, much of it from the dollar tables: Stanley sweethart square, brass hook and eye, Billings SOE, Proto LA impact, Hinsdale socket, Indestro hex key set (complete!), flip-flop ratchet, Armstrong female ratchet, Snap-on Phillips, Greenlee square socket driver, various brace bits, 1/2 of a pair of Stanley level sights, Carpentry for Beginners (1920), Starrett catalog #19 (in excellent condition).

When I was buying the Starrett cat. the dealer also had an old socket set, but the price was higher than I liked (mostly as I was running low of funds) and while I countered with what I had in my pocket and pointed out that the set was missing the ratchet and other things, they didn't accept my counter. Fair enought. But as I walked away, the dealer chased me down and offered it at my counter, to which I replied that I had spent a chunk of that on the Starrett cat, so I had a bit less now. Well, after heming and hawing a bit we did the deal for what I still had on me (like I said, second day of the second weekend) and now I have this to complete:
53097217441_156b37d0de_b.jpg
53097221321_e95fcdc677_b.jpg
Like I said, needs the ratchet, speeder, and brace (one of which I might have) but comes with early Walden and Mossberg wrenches.

After that, I hit an estate sale that looked pretty good. This was run by a company that has high prices the first day, but the second day (which that was) they do 1/2 off. So, there was a huge crowd, but still a ton of stuff. And I got the following for less than $5:
53097718783_92062975e6_b.jpg
boxes of nuts and screws, wrenches (Armstrong, Proto LA, and Snap-on) and Morse counter sinks.

A nice day out.

, Union 6" square,
That square combo head may not be a Union, unless specifically stamped, then my theory goes out the window.

Union seems to have a rounded section to the curved parts of the head, one of the tells I've picked up. The scale and head are easily swappable with Starrett, MF etc.

So many of the square head-pieces are unmarked that I usually write them off as being the same as the blade, unless something proves me wrong, as you possibly show!

some say the Starrett screw head is a tell, and there are other Stanley ones which are unique. I compare against the herd at home after I buy them.

I'm pretty sure it's a No.700 "Sonny" based on the 1959 catalog: It is tough when many pieces/blades interchange and how many get mixed in their lifetime. And Beemer at $1/per you **** no matter who made it. https://archive.org/details/union-tool-co-carpenters-squares-catalog-59/page/8/mode/2up

Another **** for both MachineRanger and Squez!

Hit the flea and a few sales yesterday, brought a few things home.

First is this partial Hinsdale set, last thing I need is another set building project but I couldn't leave a sticker in this nice of shape behind. Paid $15 which is probably too much.

IMG_4926.jpg

This is a good example of why I always open the cheap foreign socket sets. Someone replaced the original stuff with a nice Craftsman G deep socket set. $5.
IMG_4925.jpg

This is a mishmash of stuff from the flea, I think I paid around $15 for this? Bought the box set mostly for the Challenger box and the SK spinner, the rest is Craftsman stuff. Below is a variety of Duro/Indestro 1/4" sockets which I don't see often, a Husky rat, and some small Proto and Armstrong combos. I was about to throw away the little phillips socket that was on the Husky rat and thankfully I looked closer as it's Plomb.
IMG_4928.jpg

More flea finds, the SK, Craftsman, and nozzle were a buck each. The rest of it came from a guy that always saves his Plomb stuff for me but I pay for it. Think I was at $16 for the Plomb T, Plomb WF-82, Duro Chrome T, Super Hex DBE, and SK 1/4" rat.
IMG_4927.jpg

Last were a couple garage sale pickups. Was pleasantly surprised to pick up a plastic bag in the midst of a bunch of offshore dreck to find this SK stuff for $2.50. The Craftsman Vanadium side cutters were a buck at another sale.

I tried a little TOO junque shop I had never been to before, which had some very interesting antique flintlock pistols, some Nazi daggers, and a "Fantastic Mr. Fox", or, er, um, something like that (great movie!), but the prices seemed kinda high. Like maybe a couple two zeroes too high. :)

IMG_9940.jpegAfter MrsLS & I set up at Jake’s Flea Market this morning, I started to walk the grounds. Almost immediately, I spotted what appeared to be an early 1950s Bonney CC10 roller cart and a late 1940s tool chest. Bonney never gave a model number to the chest, which was replaced by the MB82 around 1950; earlier versions would be tan/brown.
IMG_9941.jpegOne obvious problem is there is no Bonney logo on either, so maybe the manufacturer sold red crinkle boxes with no logos. The more recent Shimano logo is very well applied, so I may leave it if it resists falling off on its own.
IMG_9954.jpegInside was some bicycle shop detritis, to which I added other finds of the day:
Rubber stamp carousel, 3 NOS Stanley claw hammer handles, NIB briefcase handle, Craftsman hurdygurdy/eggbeater drill with bits in handle, yellow combination square, Utica slipjoints, 2 Stanley picture frame clamps, partial box of #10 screw eyes, Dayton 1/2dr 19/32 12pt socket, 4 casters, box of used carriage bolts, misc small screwdrivers socket chisel and ice picks, unbranded plunger/grabber, vinyl clad wire rope, 4 E.Edelman & Co kit wrenches, Bonney LokRite 7/16 line combo, and an Agway promotional 12” rule.

$33 for all (including the box and cart).

I did find that third one at the same sale but it was thickly sprayed an ugly metallic blue and filled with caulk cartridges with a high price label. The one I bought was buried in the corner of a storage shelf that no one else bothered digging into well into the sale. No one but me, of course. 👍

Saukit, I may have a lot of what you need for that Hinsdale set. Take inventory (and here is a catalog with it included) and let me know. That set does have the screw driver and valve grinding attachments, so you got that going for you, along with an excellent decal.

Got a **** load of FREE stuff from a family friends garage sale, their sale was over and anything that did sell had to be gone, it either went to the dumpster, the burn pile or scrap trailer.

You definitely don't want to use that big hammer for a door skin. You will destroy it. Use a door skin hammer and a rubber dolly or a small block of wood.
For folding over the edges? It's what I've seen used in most cases because of the curved head.

*EDIT* upon further research, you're right. That's a fender/bumper hammer. The door skin hammer is smaller and shaped differently. My bad......

Well, I was told to post this up here. This was my Marketplace find of the summer, and first box.
@MachinedRanger *****!

Ready for this one of my best tool hauls in awhile.. was heading toward the swap meet and seen a estate sale so I turned around and hit the jack pot.
Jackpot indeed. @Squez *****!

A **** for Outlaw on his Sigg Tourist! That nearly slipped past, and should be recognized.

Onto the well-deserved bandwagon of ***** for Squez and Machined Ranger.

@Private Lugnutz, @genog had the Crown-produced, .30 ORD marked ammo can. @Outlawmws I'm with you about wanting more of the ORD marked ammo cans. However, the modern ones make better users, IMO.

Found a few things this weekend.
Nothing of the **** variety..., but cool nonetheless
bp1.jpg
Blackhawk 3/8 set.
I found the missing 9/16 socket in another box. The Seller had stuff all over the place.
Maybe a good selling strategy. There was quite a crowd digging though his boxes

And besides destroying the door/skin, I don't see how you would physically be able to use that hammer LOL.

Found this SK made 3/8” drive Klein socket set. Seems to be missing the 6” extension. I believe it is part number 65723. Any chance any of you have spare? Also was excited to pick up the Lenox mini hack saw.
