That square combo head may not be a Union, unless specifically stamped, then my theory goes out the window.
some say the Starrett screw head is a tell, and there are other Stanley ones which are unique. I compare against the herd at home after I buy them.So many of the square head-pieces are unmarked that I usually write them off as being the same as the blade, unless something proves me wrong, as you possibly show!
On Thursday (we were so young...) I was able to get out and hit a couple sales, with good results:
I hit around four sales, and while only half of them had anything interesting, it was good stuff, and all of it only costing a dollar per! Plomb and Proto LA flat heads, Stanley ball pein, Union 6" square, and SK roto head came from the first good sale, although someone was an engraver..., and the rotary tool box and USN pouch were from another. The last stop I hit that day produced a bit of paper:
That square combo head may not be a Union, unless specifically stamped, then my theory goes out the window.
Union seems to have a rounded section to the curved parts of the head, one of the tells I've picked up. The scale and head are easily swappable with Starrett, MF etc.

I'm pretty sure it's a No.700 "Sonny" based on the 1959 catalog: It is tough when many pieces/blades interchange and how many get mixed in their lifetime. And Beemer at $1/per you **** no matter who made it. https://archive.org/details/union-tool-co-carpenters-squares-catalog-59/page/8/mode/2upsome say the Starrett screw head is a tell, and there are other Stanley ones which are unique. I think I counted 26 pieces in the box, + the box. My old benchmark used to be a buck a tool - inflation is getting things away from that, but you are under a buck a tool, and the box was free...Paid $15 which is probably too much.
l. .50 M2Spraybombed red, but good find, and the second Ordnance Dept bomb logo we've seen in last 7 days (can't remember who found the first...). Which means, in irrepressible time honored Garage Sale thread magic, that a third will pop up any day now. It's just a matter of WHO finds it.Amm box Cal. 50 M2.
After MrsLS & I set up at Jake’s Flea Market this morning, I started to walk the grounds. Almost immediately, I spotted what appeared to be an early 1950s Bonney CC10 roller cart and a late 1940s tool chest. Bonney never gave a model number to the chest, which was replaced by the MB82 around 1950; earlier versions would be tan/brown.
One obvious problem is there is no Bonney logo on either, so maybe the manufacturer sold red crinkle boxes with no logos. The more recent Shimano logo is very well applied, so I may leave it if it resists falling off on its own.
Inside was some bicycle shop detritis, to which I added other finds of the day:Damn, well there goes that theory.I'm pretty sure it's a No.700 "Sonny" based on the 1959 catalog: It is tough when many pieces/blades interchange and how many get mixed in their lifetime. You **** for the $2.50 S-K Stuff.Another **** for both MachineRanger and Squez!
Hit the flea and a few sales yesterday, brought a few things home.
First is this partial Hinsdale set, last thing I need is another set building project but I couldn't leave a sticker in this nice of shape behind. Paid $15 which is probably too much.
This is a good example of why I always open the cheap foreign socket sets. Someone replaced the original stuff with a nice Craftsman G deep socket set. $5.
This is a mishmash of stuff from the flea, I think I paid around $15 for this? Bought the box set mostly for the Challenger box and the SK spinner, the rest is Craftsman stuff. Below is a variety of Duro/Indestro 1/4" sockets which I don't see often, a Husky rat, and some small Proto and Armstrong combos. I was about to throw away the little phillips socket that was on the Husky rat and thankfully I looked closer as it's Plomb.
More flea finds, the SK, Craftsman, and nozzle were a buck each. The rest of it came from a guy that always saves his Plomb stuff for me but I pay for it. Think I was at $16 for the Plomb T, Plomb WF-82, Duro Chrome T, Super Hex DBE, and SK 1/4" rat.
Last were a couple garage sale pickups. Was pleasantly surprised to pick up a plastic bag in the midst of a bunch of offshore dreck to find this SK stuff for $2.50. The Craftsman Vanadium side cutters were a buck at another sale.

Saukit, I may have a lot of what you need for that Hinsdale set. Take inventory (and here is a catalog with it included) and let me know. That set does have the screw driver and valve grinding attachments, so you got that going for you, along with an excellent decal.Another **** for both MachineRanger and Squez!

Thanks Beemer! I will definitely take you up on that! Appreciate it!Saukit, I may have a lot of what you need for that Hinsdale set. Sorry it took so long to get these. It's been busy here with grandsons.Nice finds! markings on the Masterench? and the Spped nut - swivle head right?

Thanks. It’s posted in the plomb threadThat Plomb screwdriver is cool!
For folding over the edges? It's what I've seen used in most cases because of the curved head. You definitely don't want to use that big hammer for a door skin. You will destroy it. Use a door skin hammer and a rubber dolly or a small block of wood.
@MachinedRanger *****!Well, I was told to post this up here. This was my Marketplace find of the summer, and first box.
Jackpot indeed. @Squez *****!Ready for this one of my best tool hauls in awhile.. was heading toward the swap meet and seen a estate sale so I turned around and hit the jack pot.
Very nice. You ****!

And besides destroying the door/skin, I don't see how you would physically be able to use that hammer LOL.For folding over the edges? It's what I've seen used in most cases because of the curved head.
*EDIT* upon further research, you're right. That's a fender/bumper hammer. The door skin hammer is smaller and shaped differently. My bad......
Please let me know if you want to sell the orange pliers! Not a huge picking weekend as I wanted to spend some time cleaning up my garage from the recent finds and sorting/ putting things into correct bins but I did find a few things
Couple metal baking tins for tool cleaning/organizing and a large Allied puller for a few bucks
Craftsman Orange handle pliers and a crown top permanex set for $1 for both items.
Also scored a plomb 9608 flat tip for free as well
