Re-posting since I couldn't get my photos uploaded properly last time.

I strolled over to a pawn shop about 5 minute walk away and picked up some sockets and wrenches for $10. Here are some of the more interesting ones:

- Indestro Super 19mm 12 PT 1/2" Socket
jTpXd3F - Imgur.jpg

- Armstrong USA 14mm 12 PT 1/2" Socket
y3l0dhH - Imgur.jpg

- 14mm Fuller Combination Wrench, Made in Japan by KTC
6HGd46Z - Imgur.jpg
c6sAOM3 - Imgur.jpg

- Mystery 17x19mm double box end, no offset. Can anybody ID this?

X8bQQQ0 - Imgur.jpg

- Mystery 3/4" wrench, Made in India, reminiscent of a Stahlwille

I also picked up a few Duralast and Craftsman USA sockets.

Well, I guess I am following JMLangford for the first one of the year

... Not a purchase. I bought a car last year. I recently noted that there is sometimes an intermittent noise as if something rolls when I accelerate or stop. Checked all the door pockets, etc - nothing. Started looking around and found a small cylinder with a ball on top (and spring behind - have no clue what is is for in Highlander...)
Decided to keep looking and checked all the potential spots (under seat railings, etc). There were coupe of other things not included in the picture - a pencil, a ACE glove (only one!) and some garbage...

The best finding is MAC MD6 5mm deep socket (1/4" drive) - in great condition + I did not have a deep 5mm

P.S. If anybody has a clue what a cylinder with the ball and the 3 wire connector are for, please let me know... I suspect that the cylinder with the ball could be used to keep the closed doors shut if there is a metal indent piece installed in the door frame, but not sure where one would use it in the car...

Looks like a spring loaded ball like what I had in my hall closet doors. There was a metal latch plate above in the doorframe with an indent as a detent.

Thank you. I think it's unlikely to be anything related to the car.

Good that somebody lost it under the front passenger seat - if not for this noise, I would have never found the deep 5mm MAC socket!

(hmm, now I just need to go to a self pull yard and find all the missing fancy sockets I desire abandoned in old cars : )

Nice pick, PETE! Those Kant-Twist's should be higher on the list, in my estimation. I have a couple of the Tapewriters, but it took me many years to find them. They will emboss aluminum tape, which I find to be quite durable my preference if the item will get wet, and they will punch the hole to wire them to the part.

Thank you Provincial! I'll make sure to work on my list order next time I get this lucky ;)

I've been looking for a Tapewriter for a while now and it's nice to finally have one. I love the raised letter labels these make. It's even cooler now that I know I can use aluminum in it!!

There will be a 3rd. There always is. It's the GS thread magic. Outlaw knows. Never fails.

Metric? Post more and better pics on the Billings thread down on the VB.

Low kwon/high qual haul (Lugz 2023_06) this morning.

Tools: Jet-Twist wire-tier, WISS offset ("Scroll-Pivoter") shears (WWII!), and antique shears (can't read the name yet). The kit wrench is for an Indestro set. The stamped-steel asymmetrical TOE wrench has a name on the flip side that I am intentionally hiding from Quickdraw McGooglers like RTM and 4.c, lest they ruin my research fun. :)

The hand-crank vibration action game tickled my Grandpop funny bone. No cars, but I think it will shake any cars down the track. Guessing 30's, but I haven't looked it up yet.

Two sales this morning but I came away with only one purchase. This San Antonio Air Depot cotter pin puller is just over 7" long, cad plated and dangerously sharp. Came up dry on researching it. $1.

The three wire connector is for a BRK smoke detector.

I forgot to post my LEAVE-BEHINDS!

Pic 1 sold for $100 a few seconds after I took the photo. Total stranger standing there asked me what I thought. I said, "What's not to like? Even the patina is screaming red-blooded American boy!" He laughed knowingly. The vendor laughed thinking 'sale'. "I'll take it," came a few seconds later.

Pic 2 are eel stickers the guys wanted $50 for both, which is exorbitant.

Pic 3 had a banjo inside and the guy would not separate it from the case. I don't blame him. Some of you may remember photos of the wooden casket-shaped case my old man made me for a Gibson guitar I have. I have a banjo with no case. Would've been nice, but no dice.

Pic 4 was an untouchable price, but soooo cool. I will post more on the Bell System thread.

Well I did a very dumb thing today. Buyer came this morning for a '72/'74 Craftsman stack I had for sale. I had the box listed with and without tools. Buyer had expressed yesterday, just wanted the boxes, so I emptied the drawers, errr most of the drawers, I realized after they left I skipped emptying a drawer. I had the buyer's number and a quick text, explaining my embarrassment and I'll pick up the contents later next week,as I will be on that side of Metro Detroit next week for work.

HA! If only you knew how uncanny it is at this end for you to show up with some widget on this thread that I had been researching only a few days prior - happens all the time! (In one instance it was almost simultaneous, which was truly bizarre.)

Actually I'm only responding on that stamped wrench in the unlikely event that you did not already pick up on these two URLs that I didn't even know existed until a couple hours ago:

^ the first URL answers my question about "Why are there so damn many oddball "bicycle wrenches" listed on ebay?"

A few years ago I bought a couple of empty stacks off Craigslist from a fellow who lives about five miles away. A friend helped us load them into my pickup. After I got home, I discovered a complete 1/2 drive New Britain socket set, from 3/8 to 1-1/4" in one drawer. No ratchet, but extensions and a breaker bar. I called the seller and offered to bring them back, but he said "I'm moving into a smaller place and have no room, so just keep them."

^ Best part was scrolling down that list of Coleman wrenches and recognizing so many of them from ebay listings!

Does somebody else have a "fishing reel wrench" website somewhere?

I found one sale worth heading to this AM, and feel I did well for myself at less than a $20:
52679067662_c56b0dd6e0_c.jpg
A Millers Falls tack puller, Stanley #51 spoke shave, Stanley #4 type 11 corrugated, and a Craftsman heritage socket set,
here is a pic showing the contents of the set, and the bottom of the plane.
52680078943_5e6e0fe5c1_c.jpg
Both need a bit of work, but should more than pay for the last two weeks activities.

As I was pulling up to the sale, I got a call that an auction win of mine from a while back was ready to be picked up, so I had to speed off to make that in time for later appointment:
52679586171_27948e0895_c.jpg
An older (not sure of the date just yet) English shotgun, from what is called a "country gunmaker", in other words, not from London or Birmingham, and in this case Liverpool. William Richards is the maker, who, by the way is still around and in trade, and the auction house misidentified it as Westly Richards, which is why I was able to get it at a price I can afford. It will need some work, as there is rust on the barrels, which are Damascus. So, black powder only, and I need special shells in any case, as it is chambered for 12 bore 2-1/2, an older English size.

But, just look at the delicate engraving!

BMW, they have some special powders that burn low pressures like BP but without the corrosive. There is a significant number of competitive shooters that use these old guns in competitions for these classes of guns.

Outlaw, they sell the shells with the powder types you mention still, but they seem to be out of stock a lot. I have an old roll crimper and most of the components, but still need to dig up some paper hulls to roll my own, so to speak.

I do need a pro to inspect it if I am going to put rounds through it though, as some of these old girls look OK, but have small, hidden issues. Never hurts to be careful. On the other hand, I don't mind it being a wall hanger, as it was cheap enough.

^ I had an old Mortimer passed on to me. I took it up to Colonel Welcher to look at. He told me he could sell me some powder and shot, and carefully explained to me how to load it, tamp it down, prime it, and then tie it to a tree and fasten about 100 feet of rope to the trigger and stand way, way, way back.
I sold it to a pawnbroker for $20 bucks rather than deal with the possibility of two small boys getting their little fingers on it.

Very nice piece. It will look great on a wall.

BMW *****!

Like that 1/4" Cman set, and the plane. But that shotgun....WOW. Good luck with the inspection. I've seen 2.5" brass shells around, which may be easier to reload than paper hulls. Didn't buy any, though.
