Went back to the Kitts warehouse sale today.

Grey Pneumatic sockets, Wright sockets, four sets of made in USA drill bits (1/16”-9/32”), a Wright 3/8” extension, and five Enderes screwdrivers $45.

It probably would have only been $25ish if I had not bought the 3 3/8” Grey Pneumatic socket. I will, probably, never need it… but I had to fill the peg on my socket rail…IMG_5707.jpeg
I am missing the same 3 3/8" 1/4" drive socket on my rail too. I have it in 3/8 drive but I got to fill that peg!

You don’t need a 1/4”x3 3/8”. The extra spots on your 1/4” rail are for your 1/4” drive clutch head bit sockets.

With the price of gas, I’m trying to focus on sales closer to home but the only sale with tools I saw was in Walnut Creek, about a half hour away. There weren’t many tools but I found some that were interesting to me. Many of them weren’t made in the US. My wife liked the folding yardstick of extremely local interest. She said that the wife of the realtor taught in Albany schools.IMG_7546.jpeg
Eggbeater drill from England IMG_7550.jpeg
A couple from Italy.IMG_7563.jpegIMG_7566.jpeg
Hazet ignition pliers.IMG_7560.jpeg
Another odd British tool. IMG_7552.jpegIMG_7553.jpeg
US made tools. Stanley eggbeater with bitsIMG_7575.jpeg
Long C longnoses.IMG_7555.jpeg
Little 4” Crescent wrench.IMG_7559.jpeg
At least the low price from one of my favorite estate sale sellers made up for burning some expensive gas,

Well, I hit up 2 ES close to home this morning. I went about 2 hrs after it started because I did not want to stand in line. I got the stuff in the pink tub at the first one, paid $20. The second one was an old shop pack full of stuff. Nothing was marked, no lights. The area in the back corner where most of the tools were was roped off. Someone had come in at the start of the sale and bought everything in the roller boxes and work bench. So me and my trusty flashlight began searching other areas in the shop. The stuff in the red top tray is what I came away with, all for $30.

Not a tool but I scored this old Coke box for free today! Its missing the lid but everything is there and its not rusted out. I think i am going to use it in my garden to put flower pots in. 20260326_183014.jpg
Well, that’s a YOU **** freebie!! Unless, you live in a very dry environment , I’d coat it with something to try to retain that patina!! That thing would rust away quickly in the humid SE. Great find!!

I am in the Dallas area, so definitely not the driest but far from the wettest. I was going to use this

I got this thing from an old man I talk to all the time, he is 85 and I am 40. Last year he gave me a bunch of antiques out of his grandfather's blacksmith shop that fell down 30ish years ago. This coke box was in that shop since the mid to late 50s and he said he drug it out of the rubbel in the mid 90s and left it under a tree.

Last year he wouldn't give me the coke box, the "good anvil", or the forge that was left in that pile so I dug it all out and hauled it up to his hay barn. That anvil is big IMO, its about 200lbs and was an absolute ***** getting it in the truck. Maybe he will give me that next!

Sometimes you go to the sale, sometimes it comes to you. I had to run down to my storage unit to get a Van part for a paint match. The guy next door, who runs estate sales hereabouts, saw me and asked how much of the tool haul he'd just made I wanted to move to my unit. He's holding a sale starting tomorrow, so I get my pick of the goodies!

This was my grab:

All those plastic capsules in one of the drawers?

55170699874_80281012e0_o.jpg

One itty-bitty sheet metal screw per. Very efficient packaging.
Those are tire plugs:
amazon

And that deserves a you **** for the box and tools

There were two estate sales listed yesterday that mentioned tools. The first was in Concord, CA put on by a company we’ve had some luck with in the past. The prices were higher than I would have liked but the selection of tools wasn’t bad. IMG_7597.jpegPlenty of Craftsman to flip. IMG_7598.jpeg
A Stiletto screwdriver.

IMG_7599.jpeg
A popular Stanley.

IMG_7600.jpeg
A decent Mac screwdriver. IMG_7601.jpeg
New Britain groove joint pliers. IMG_7602.jpegIMG_7603.jpeg
A couple of Thorsen items just needing cleaning.IMG_7605.jpeg
Vintage tape measures.
IMG_7610.jpeg
Plumb claw hammer. IMG_7611.jpeg

The second sale in Hayward was more to our liking with quite a few tools scattered around a large storage shed put on by a favorite estate sale company. The prices were quite reasonable as well. IMG_7613.jpeg
Plenty of Craftsman including a decent Crown carry box. IMG_7615.jpeg
Prewar S-K 1/4” drive extensions.IMG_7616.jpeg
Proto Professional scraper.IMG_7622.jpeg
Thorsen 11/16” combo.IMG_7623.jpeg
Snap-on and Par-X tools.IMG_7627.jpeg
Lectrolite combos.IMG_7628.jpeg
Barcalo and Crescent relatives. IMG_7630.jpeg
Xcelite tools.IMG_7650.jpeg
Fairly early Plomb tools.IMG_7620.jpeg

I found this box in the back of my car from the warehouse sale. It is a box of 5 Bonney 1/2”x19mm deep impact sockets.

There were 40ish more boxes of 19mm. There were also lots of boxes of 5 15mm and boxes of 2 24mm.

It explains why they only have a few sizes of Bonney sockets available at the retail store.

I was hoping there would be more Facom era SK, NOS Cleveland Twist Drill sets and other things that I used to buy at Kitts. I didn’t find any of that.

The father bought closeout lots, sometimes, when companies offered them.

At one time they had pallets of Facom era SK.

They also had a lot of stuff from a local WW2 bomber plant and other surplus government tools and tooling.

A LOT of extremely random things.

I knew I shouldn't but I did. I stopped back by the storage unit sale for the second day--and he's making deals!

What have I done?

I came home with this:

55172501657_b7ea6dcaca_o.jpg

Mostly USA, mostly SAE, many Crafty and others. $20. There's still a bundle of Pennens DBE SAE for $10. Tempting.

Left-behinds of note:

Unsure if you need a cross-peen or a straight-peen?

55172501652_4f3f39e185_o.jpg

I have just the hammer for you.

55173398921_6fee017e2d_o.jpg

Vintage radio buffs? Marked $100, but I'll bet I could get it for $50 this afternoon.

There's also a Crafty Crown 6" bench grinder with all parts (lamp, even) and a stand for $125. I may have to stop back by and see how low he'll go on that.

I couldn't just drive past the storage unit sale on my way back from lunch. I need help....

55173774568_cb1ddec6dc_o.jpg

$5, complete set from 7/16 to 3/4", all Pennens.

Fortunately, the Crafty Crown 6" grinder on stand was gone. That was what I intended to wheel and deal over--and I need another grinder like I need another hole in my head.

I did not see the Eklind T handle stands. Was that in the section that they just opened up today?

Yes in boxes, pallet on floor, first rack to the left about 11:00 middle of room, box was mixed with folding sets all in cardboard, very easy to miss.

Another market place grab today. No deal I paid for it but I wanted it. Wilton power arm for my baby bullet. The guy said he bought it 40 years ago and never used it. It has a runny paint job I’m not sure it’s original but damn close match if not. I only paid $20 for the vise and $200 for the arm so I think im still ahead of the game!

Yesterday, Saturday, seemed to have a few interesting local sales, and the two I went to were both picker type sales. My favorite!

The first sale I hit was run by my favorite low-end company, and as is her style, listed just as "a situation."
55174569854_68ec7ae089_b.jpg
And that it was. Just stuff everywhere, no organization, no pricing, nothing. Just the way I like it. Here I found a Thorsen 1/4" box with misc. sockets, mostly pre-war Indestro/Duro and post-war Walden. Some large taps, 7/8" and 1", both fine and course, plus some extras, a bell type center punch, and an early Wards (D/I) ratchet. $10

The next sale was a barn/shop clearout, with, again, no pricing.
55173428632_4cc3f6e549_b.jpg
some older type ratching wrenches (Snap-on, Williams, Proto), wrench clip, Proto flathead socket (with unused tip), MAC needle nose, SK socket, and WardsMaster carry box. $2

After that, I decided to head back to the first sale, as it seemed there was more there, and I wasn't in a hurry to get to another sale
55174500998_7d80649fd2_b.jpg
And I was right. Hyland Hone set, adjustable spud wrench (maker ground off, but interesting inset panel listing size), Walden spintite, SK pre-war extension, (2) step bits (11/16", 3/4"), Blue Point punch, (1) birds head grip, dice, Ace thread gauge, spoke wrench, (2) trays of misc. shooting parts, sockets (Cornwell, Snap-on, WardsMaster, Chrome Alloy), wrench clip, SAK knock-off, Plomb ratchet. $5

Then I swung by a thrift store and picked up a couple flannel shirts on the cheap. A good day, as I didn't leave my little town.
