Super cool! If I can offer some advice... dont paint it. Clean it and maintain its original finish the best that you can. If you want a little shine you can rub it down with penetrol or boiled linseed oil. Or even ATF.

I agree I'd rather get it to function and the lights lit up and not paint it. It's been on my family's Farm since it was both new back in the twenties it got replaced by a newer pump and sat where you see it since then. I just couldn't believe that my 95 year old uncle had the original globe in his attic

Will do. Might take a little while. Thanks for the Oldgas site hasco. I'm finding all kinds of good stuff as I'm cleaning up the barns.

"Something can be restored many times. It can only be original once."
100% agree. I actually dislike all those shows that gut original items and turn them into replicas. I get it if the item is totally destroyed or something but that tank looks in decent shape. I'd carefully clean it and display it proudly.

That is an interesting pump. So you say it is a Gilbert and Barker? Any idea on model? More pictures would be nice. It is not a visible pump so I’m guessing from the clock face era? Meaybe 1930s? What more do you know about it?
The previous reference to old gas.com will help you a lot, post over there for sure.

Here’s a start, after a brief search on old gas. I searched “G&B Clockface” and got these two references. Only a couple of pictures though. Hope this helps but I would be very interested to hear what you learn.

Looks like a G&B T65 or T66, some had a clock face, some did not.
what I learned about G&B when I restored my visible model is that the company must have made alterations to the designs without changing the model numbers , much if at all. So that a 65 may have several different features within that designation.
Here is another thread with better pictures:

Pretty sure it's the same. Everything inside is a work of art and I don't care if it only pumps cool aid but I'm gonna get it functioning again
