I've spent hours lurking and getting ideas. Now that we have bought a house I have a space I van permanently modify.

This is primarily for car parking and maintenance.

I want to maximize storage space so I researched and built this quasi mini loft. I need to brace the plywood more, any suggestions?

I have the small craftsman top/bottom box and a few misc toolboxes. I also have some metal shelving and I just bought a cheap metal cabinet for storage. My plan is to build a permanent bench on the back wall and then build some fold out benches on the sidewall. I want to maximize my floor space.

I am planning on building more storage up above to keep clutter to a minimum. I would love to be able to park the wifes Rav4 inside if needed so I need the most space I can get.

I am planning on running conduit from the current lights for T8s, found a good deal on some 4 light fixtures on craigslist. Does that not sound like a smart idea?

I welcome all comments and criticism.

For that mini loft I would have built a frame under the plywood. Basically 2x4's arranged like:

Also, you want to make sure that the 2x4's are rotated 90 degrees from where the one is on the right to make better use of the load bearing properties of the board.

Looks good so far.

Thanks for the feedback, I will definitely fix that and use the frame idea for any future ones I build.

Im not sure where the cabinet will end up, but i am happy with it for $20. I will store all my fluids and car detailing stuff in here, as well as any parts for prepping the car I may be working on

Found another craigslist special. Guy is selling 12 T8 fixtures with wiring and some bulbs. Hopefully I can pick them up tomorrow. Working on my car today I had to use my headlamp which is unacceptable.

Edit: picked up the lights, hopefully picking some bulbs up tomorrow.

Not sure of the lighting layout I want, plan on 3 rows of 2 at least right now. I am open to suggestions though

I need to take some pictures of the garage itself, but here is a picture of its main occupant and the culmination of many late nights in the garage.

There is a rudimentry work bench I built in the background to store parts during the engine rebuild. I plan on adding cabinets or shelving above it soon and also making a nice top for it.

Sweet! I always wanted to do that with an RX7.

If you want some ideas, check my link. I also have a 20X20.

Thanks, its been a long project. I had it running last year with the V8 but spun some bearings and blew a head gasket so I did a rebuild this winter/spring. First time rebuilding an engine, it was a fun experience.

I will definitely check out your thread for ideas!
