20x20 Metal Building Interior Question

I just purchased a 20x20 metal building and it's been officially installed on a slab. Now I’m starting on the inside and need ideas….I have scanned through some of the garage gallery, but have not been successful. There are a lot of great pics in there, but none (that I’ve seen) shows a metal garage built out.
Any ideas would be very helpful…..thanks

Wow, thats tiny. In any case, there are several types of metal buildings, and we need to know what you have.

Is is a regular steel building, built with "red iron", C channel, Z purlins, and such?

Is is a "corrugated" building with no interior structure (the sheet metal IS the structure) (sometimes these are quonset hut style, sometimes straight wall)

Or is this one of the "carolina carport" type, which is nothing more than a 2" galvanized square tube carport structure with some extra bracing and gussets and skin all over??

I do not know the "technical" name for the type of building I have, so i'm enclosing pictures. I know it's small, but this is just going to be heated/air space that will be my shop. I am going to build a 12X20 lean too on the side once I complete the inside to keep all the outdoor stuff. (Well I say hopefully, I'm having a hard time finding out where you can purchase the aluminum framing, so I may have to pay the contractor to come back out to build it.)

Could you maybe start with foam sheets between the metal studs, than screw whatever wall covering you want to the metal studs? Drywall, osb??

I have the same kind, I had spray foam insulation put on the walls and ceiling. I then covered the celing with sheetrock, the top 4 feet of the walls with plywood, the middle 2 feet I put pegboard all around and the bottom I sheetrocked. Then I ran the electrical on the walls in conduit.

I have the same idea as you, but I was wondering how it would look. Could you take pictures and post them for a visual reference?

Here is one with the spray insulation in. I'll see what I can do about other pics. I pretty much covered the walls once it was finished.

My walls are 9 feet tall and the building is 20 X 25. While small, it is a workshop only, not a garage for parking. One word of advise is to have the spray foam people not let the foam spill over past the studs. It is a pain to cut that stuff down.

That no way to start off. That's like challenging a guys manhood.:bounce:

Yes, not the way I intended it to sound. I mean, 20 ft deep is barely enough to get a vehicle in and shut the door, some you cannot even shut the door. Another 5 ft in depth would have been nice as far as working space.

Thats a variation of the "carolina carports" type of structure.

I would deffinitely put thinner sheetrock or maybe frp on the ceiling...if you were planning on that. I'm not sure that roof will hold the weight... I'm in Tx, we don't get much snow, but you might and that only adds more weight. In winter is not the time to find out if it doesn't hold up.

I used 5-1/4 deck board, 2 ft on center running horizontally from floor to ceiling. I used a hilti gun to atach, screws were a pain. I then used 1/2 osb on the wall I plan on doing the same with ceiling just not there yet. I plan to fill the cavity left with blown in insulation. I will post some pics when I get back to my pc or check my profile for a thread called my boat house

I got a metal garage......I first taped up a radiant barrier over the metal trusses. (some cheap stuff off ebay)
Then I screwed in 1x4's on 2ft centers for the walls.
Then put up osb.

The ceiling I glued on some 1x2's and bought some Prodex radiant barrier. Stapled that up and taped the seams with metal tape.

(after using the Prodex on the ceiling, I wished I had gone with that all the way around, but everyone has to try to stay in budget)

Spray foam is the way to go, if in budget.

,.....also, I live in Florida, so keeping the heat out is my mountain. It only get below freezing here maybe a few days a year ...if lucky....

I like the spray foam, I never considered that route...How much was it ?(If you don't mind me asking.) I was thinking about going with the foam insulation board that Lowes sales....
I had thought about going with the lumber or wood stud in between the braces for support. But I'm not really sure what's the best way to attach them....
Thanks again everyone for the great ideas, please keep them coming and pics as well....It is greatly appreicated.

Could you please post pictures of the inside....I actually already have the insulated radiant barrier in the roof.

I think the spray foam was about 1K, they were hurting for work and I had cash. Win/win. I have seen what happens to regular insulation in a metal building in the south. I forgot that I added 1x4 horizontally to the metal studs to attach the wall covering to.
