Hey Guys,

I'm working on the garage lighting and I have a couple questions.

back story:
My garage has been painted in ultra reflective white and I just installed two Howard Lighting 6 lamp curved T8 fixtures with 6500K bulbs. My Lux readings in the center of each quadrant from the previous lighting of two standard flood lights was 145,144,59,60. With the current setup of two 6 lamp fixtures is 314,314,313,313. I currently have about 33800 lumens and roughly 87 lumens per square foot.

Honestly it seems very bright! Although I have two more howard lighting fixtures to hang.

Questions:
I don't have extra light boxes in the ceiling for the other two fixtures and the floor joist run crosswise so I cant easily fish wire down the garage and install more boxes. So whats the best way to mount them without it looking like ****? EMT between the boxes to run wiring to the other lights? Maybe paint it white so it blends alitte?

Do you think I should add the other two lights? What is the recommended Lux for a garage?

Here's a couple pictures: (the flooring is going in next week)

Looks to me like you have plenty of light. It is, of course, a personal preference. My only concern would be lighting over any benches or wall work areas you may want. With only fixtures in the middle you may have more shadows than you want.

Another question I had:

If I wanted to put switches on the second set of lights how could I go about doing that? I can't add a wall switch because everything is already plumed and I can't get into the ceiling.

Or is it a stupid idea to put the second set of light on a switch?

Read up on Zwave remote switches- you could put in a control module in the light and a zwave switch next to the other swithch. Basically it looks like a sn=tandrd decora swithc, when you flip it the switch sends an RF signal to the RF module attached to the light and the light turns on. Note that this may hinge on how the wires are run to the lights and switches...
