Built my brick attached garage a couple of years ago doing a footer + 2 courses of block + poured slab then brick sat on the footer.

Planning a 20x24 and and want at least 1 course of block to elevate the bottom plate and same brick exterior. Any advice on doing a single monolithic pour, with the block and brick sitting on the thickened edge? Thanks!

I don’t know why but on a house in most jurisdictions you would need to form a brick ledge lower than the elevation of the sill plate, not sure if it applies to garages or not but seems like it would be a good idea just in case.

Running a course of block on top of the thickened edge to keep the wood structure up off the ground is a good idea, I did that myself. I don't have experience with brick exteriors, though - could you just use block that's wide enough to create a ledge for the brick?
