Ok guys it's been summer and I have not really done anything with he new garage in he back yard. I have been having a lot of epic fishing trips and everything has been working so no need to repair anything and post. So conditions are not normal. Something always needs worked on but this summer has flown by. I would love to get the wireing done this winter and it insulated soon.

Today I jacket up the Altima to change all the oils and to do a little inspection because it has been making a few noises. First thing first transmission oil is getting expensive. 10 bucks a quart. SMH. so after getting all the oils changed and the front end greased I started looking for those little noises. First right front axle is bad and the motor mounts are shot. Also some of the exhaust wrapping is all breaking off. I guess I will take it to an exhaust shop and get that fixed and will order the other parts off the internet. I can not believe the prices on the Internet. 39 dollars for an axel. 60 bucks for all motor mounts. Like 70 percent off from auto zone prices. I had to buy a distributor a few months ago and I got it for 69 off the net and 200 was the cheapest I could find in the parts store. I have no idea why they are so cheap on the net. Plus all the hoses need replaced. What is the best hoses to get?
I went fishing a few days ago and my boat caught on fire. As soon as I **** it off the fire went out. Started it up and saw that the wire harness was on fire. Well I found a few harness on the internet and did not like the price. I messed around with it and got it rewired. Lots of work but the price is better. Any how the fishing has been good. Ow.

Well it's been a while since I have posted about my garage. Here is the update. It's just been kinda sitting back there with nothing happening with it. Well I made up my mind and it's time to get the electric back there. After a lot of utube and reading I think I got it all figured out. The plan is to run 60 amps back there into a 100 amp box and a 6/12 configuration in the electric box. 1 220 15 amp out let to run the window AC unit. One 110 20 amp breaker for the air compressor a 15 amp circuit by its self for the fridge. The next will be just a lot of 110 15 amp out let's with three 4 foot by one foot LED lights. I bought one of those lights today and ran an extension cord out there and I think that will be plenty of light. And of course three flood lights out side. This will all be happing during the next few weeks. And then I will get a chance to start using it for more then storage. Kinda getting the man cave set up. In wall surround sound for the TV and music. Then next winter I will get the insulation and dry wall done. It's a work in progress I have not gone into det over this and it will be set up the way I want it.

I went today to city hall and got my permit approved for electric. They liked my plans so that's good. I am running 7 circuits. One 220 for A/c. One solo outlet for the fridge I don't want to pop a breaker and forget to set it and my beer gets warm. One for the light and three for the 110 outlets and one for a 20 amp for the air compressor. I was surprised buy how cheap the feed wire is. 100 amp wire is only 1.23 a foot. They call it mobile home feed and it's 2/2/4/6 wire. It has taken a year to get to this point but I am so glad I built this.

It's been a busy Christmas I have gotten all the wiring routed but the lights. I will get that done today along with some shopping with the wife. I have an electrician coming by to look at my work and make sure it's going to pass inspection. I will be putting in the CB box next weekend. The garage is coming along nicely. I need to pay attention to the wife's car because the lower control arms need replaced. Always something that needs done in the garage.

Sorry I missed the Florida meet up. I have been busy not a lot of posting but I am trying to fix that. You never know when someone is struggling with the same thing you already delt with. I'll improve. But yea this this electric project I have done a lot of reading ad asked a lot of questions but I am not paying 2400 and not getting what I want.

I agree. $2400 a lot of money to paid out without getting your way. Should be having a gathering soon at my place probably end of January.
This is taking longer then I thought. I got all the 14/2 ran now. Today I worked on putting up the flood lights. What a pain in the *** taking the soffits down and adding 2x4 to put the base on and cutting the plastic. Tomorrow I hope to get the lights all wired up. I plan to put a plug on the end of the wire and plug it in to an extension cord and have all the lights working while I finish up the panel. Hopefully next weekend I am running the wire from the house out there. Happy new year everyone.

Well I finished up the out side flood lights today. I plugged and extension cord in at the switch and they worked. I had it plugged into a gfi out let. It did not trip and everything worked and did not get hot. So tomorrow to get the other two LED 1x4 and get them all wired up. Then I think I will put the plug on the whole circuit and plug it in and see what happens. That way I will have light to get the box put in and the rest of the outlets wired up. I take a lot longer to do this then most would I think but I double check everything and a lot of times I don't like it and redo it.

Taking down soffits it a PIA. There's nothing wrong with taking your time. Its much better to do it right when it comes to electrical. When it comes to selling your place in future it's much easier to do it now instead of fixing it later. I need to do some of the lights myself in my backyard and sides of my house. Looking good man. Keep up the good work.

Nice job on the wiring and lights - I'm sure you'll really like having electric hooked up in the shop. I noticed you're putting in 7 circuits, but you didn't mention installing a ground rod? You might want to check with some of the electricians over in the electrical/lighting forum, but I think you need a ground rod to meet code with over 6 circuits.
It would be a lot easier to just eliminate a circuit or two, so you could avoid the ground rod, but that wouldn't give you any room for expansion in the future.

Rick thanks for the information. But when I built the shed last year I put in two grounding rods so I could figure out what side I wanted the box on. I just have not mentioned the rod. But I love having the lights in there and thanks for the help.
Oh yea I been fishing more also. Got this fishing in Jacksonville finally figured out after 17 years.
Nothing to do with the shed. Just something I enjoy doing.

So today I did the lower control arms on the wife's car. It was the easiest job I think I have ever done. I looked at it on the internet and it seemed like a lot of people was having problems with them. But I waited longer for the alignment then it took to do them. Now her car is good to go just needs an oil change. I used to take it to one of those quick places but I noticed they where not looking the car over. Now I do my own and look at the car real good and I get a chance to get ahead of problems before they get to be a big problem. Like those lower control arms. I was able to find them bad and get a good price one the internet before they were real bad and had to get them local. Plus it's fun working on your own stuff.

Looks like you had a great fishing trip. Its great to work on your own stuff. That's why we build our places.
Today I finished wiring the garage. We are live now. I went over kill on everything. And I even added an outside breaker box on the out side of the house for future projects. I plan to add a 35 amp camper plug soon. Would love to run the a/c while cleaning that thing before trips. Thanks to those who have helped me so far.

Today was a good day after yesterday. I found a typo on my permit and I had to pay a fee to amend it yesterday. Today I had the inspection and everything passed. Up till December I knew nothing about electric. I had to look up everything bought a book asked a lot of questions and I wired it all. Turned out good and I got what I wanted. I had a few guys come out and give me quotes and they never wanted to do what I wanted done. And the cost was still high. The cheapest price I received was 2400 and that was just for five outlets and three lights and not the kind I wanted. I did all this for about 1000 lost track of a few odds and ends. Job well done.

Well today I started to move my stuff back to the shed. I wanted it as open for the inspector as I could. And would you know it I don't like where I decided to put the air compressor. But this is fine because I am just going to add two more outlets and move it where I want. Also my compressor has been leaking for years. Well today I decided it was not going to leak any more. I changed out the drain plug and fixed the hose ends and one leak I had by the gauge. No more leaks. It's the small thinks that are important in life. It's getting warm down here and I still have not done my lawn mower maintenance nor my motor cycle maintenance. It's time to get on that and stop buying all these things for the shed.

Well I have been working on getting things in the shed the way I want them. It's turning out to be a harder task then I thought. I got to much ****. The wife has to much ****. But never the less I won't get ride of my stuff and the same with her. I have noticed that this stuff takes up space and of course you build a 600 sq space and you will want 1200 sq. You can never have big enough. But never the less I have two garages now and I am going to have to make it work. Unless I send the wife packing but I have kinda got used to her being around.
Also today I went to go look at a new car. Found a 07 maximum for a really good price the dealership responded to me and said it was ready to go and came with a 30 day warranty. Well I get there and they knew nothing about our conversation and said the car was not detailed and ready to go. I said fine show me the car and let's test drive it. Then the guy said you can only tow the car out of here because the engine needed replaced and that they will repair the car and sell it for more. I was pissed. Beyond pissed. How can these weasels be able to operate. I left and came home. I was thinking that the car had a rebuilt title because of a wreck or something but not completely not running. Smh. I asked how they can do a 30 day warranty with a car that was not running. They said that was after they repaired the car.

LMAO, there's always a battle between space vs stuff. You got extra space trust me you'll find stuff to fill it. Its the space creates vacuum theory. There's FSD ( flat surface disease ) in which if you have a empty flat surface in your garage it will somehow collect stuff. Theres EDD ( empty drawer disease) which if you have a empty drawer anywhere in your garage it will somehow be a dumping ground for something. Usually this happens to cure the FSD. The worst of all is the GJD ( Garage Journal disease) in which you see you the great stuff in which you didn't think you needed until you saw it on the Garage Journal. In order to cure the battle between the wife and your stuff is to create areas for your her and your stuff only. Theses are designated areas in house or garage. Since you have the garage out back I would claim that for yourself. That is a "no wife stuff zone" and you give her the other garage or extra room in the house for her stuff. There's so a joint stuff zone where's its a community area say like first garage. If I was you I would claim the back garage as yours and give up the first garage to her. Her stuff in there and yours in the back.

Well I never made it to Italy. I wondered in to the Azores. Been here now for a few weeks and it looks like I have a few more weeks to go. Any how it's a nice area very little in the way of garages. But there are a few. And the cars are a little bit on the small size.

Ok guys I been busy for the last year. I went to japan for a while and when I got back I worked on my boat getting it ready for sale. I got it sold and got its replacement. I got a nice little off shore boat. Now of course I did not get one ready to go. It needs a rebuild. I am going to pull the power head and take it in. I want to do it however I want the Boat to run the next ten years. The last one lasted me 16 years. I also got a 2008 mustang. It’s in nice condition now. However it was not when I got it. It was wrecked. And the wife’s car needed a new ac this year. So I am back sorry for the laps of updates. And nothing been really done in the garage. Looking forward to cooler weather and getting caught up on work around the house. Oh I need a new roof also. Major storm came through and screwed up the roof. I think they called it Mathew. My area was flooded bad however my house did not flood.

Alright I am bad with up dates been very busy. I decided to fix the boat myself. Damm it was worse off then I had hoped. I did the power head the whole wiring harness in the boat and the the lower end. The mustang has developed a lot of suspension noise so that’s the next tackle. Also I got a new truck bed for my truck also. So I have been busy. I hope to return to the forum in good standing.

Today I am just buying tickets for our Christmas vacation. It’s been many years since the wife has been home so Philippines bound we our. Now if you want to see craftsmanship this place will build cars from scratch with parts they get from japan. Wow is all I got to say about that. Here at the house got the yards looking good. And I have been unable to figure out why the boat motor is over oiling. Went 40 miles out last trip and used 1.5 gallons of oil where my friend with the same motor used .5. So I took the boat in to Yamaha to figure out. Also the idle is a little off. With no off season here in Florida to repair fishing gear I am taking the time to do some rod and reel maintenance. Nothing exciting just me working in the shed I guess.

Well I have not seen rain in a few weeks so I decided to take the bike out for a ride. 
Any guess where I am right now lol. Any ways I got the oil all changed and everything gone over. Found where my annoying rattle has been coming from on it and ordered those bolts from amazon. I got to put the phone charger on it and a rear tire and she should be good for a while. Tomorrow I will get my airbag recall done in the mustang and then wait for the part for my wife’s car to arrive. Got to love rock auto. Just hate waiting for the shipping.

Well the shed is becoming a place of storage and a repair facility for fishing reals. The garage on the other hand is open for repairs. I finished up the Harley got it running correctly now. Now it just needs cleaned and the transmission and primary serviced. I started the work on the rear end of the mustang. The upper control arm bushing is a pain in the ***. 
I ended up ordering a bushing removal tool from amazon. Should be hear Sunday. I tried to use a ball joint press it got it 1/2 way out unfortunately it failed to get it all the way. So off to celebrate the kids birthday tomorrow and hopefully Sunday the bushing press will arrive and I can finish it. At least now that I got it I can quit changing out complete suspension parts and just do the bushings for a 1/3 of the cost.

Ok the word of the day is correct tool. I know a lot of us just make things work sometimes. We don’t have 100-200 dollars every time we work on something but money can be really saved with the correct tool. Once I got this tool delivered I got the bushing out in no more then 10 mins. I worked on it no less then 8 hours with the wrong tools. Trying to make something work. Well I failed and broke down and bought the correct tool and learned something. Even with buying the correct tools the job was still cheaper then having a garage do it. Now I can replace front end parts with out replacing the whole component and just the bushings.

Well I got the mustang put back together and I still have a lose joint under there. I suspected it before I did the upper control arm but this one was the worse. So I will be ordering the lower control arm bushings here in a few days and replace all of them. Then it will be off to the front end.
