I bought a home about a year and a half ago. Came with an attached 2 car garage and a detached 20x30 shop. So I decided to fix up the back shop first. I have done a ton of work to it while using it for my toys and other vehicles. Its a brick building that already had power ran out to it. 220 volt and a 50 amp service sub panel was installed replacing old fuse style ****. I ran gas and cable after tearing the garage to bare studs. I then began running tons of wiring and insulation. I left it insualted for a year and finally finished it fully. New man door with door armor, insulated garage door and in the spring am having the old windows replaced with glass blocks. Let me know what you think. I am also going to tile the floor in the spring.

And finished garage drywalled piping for compressor done, new work bench and a ton more. Fan is from a furnace and is wired to a switch on side of cabinet, works great in summer.

Great transformation. How did you end up dealing with the drywall and garage opener hardware/tracks, etc?

I cut the drywall around the tracks. probably not the best option but it was quick and easy and doesnt look bad. I have never drywalled before so it came out well for every little experience.

Thanks. It has been alot of work and trying to stay focused on the projects. the paintjob on the s10 was prolly the worst though. Alot of sanding and buffing. I have an attatched garage also thats for storing the dailys and mowers and stuff. It has like 9 foot ceilings now but the attic goes way up to like 16 foot so I thought about reconfiguring the ceiling and door opener and putting a lift in there. Not set on that cause of the cash and crazy work todo it.

Yeah. Calgary. He had it maybe twenty years ago. We only get 7 letters of custom plates.

RaceDeck Flooring is your best bet for high quality floor tiles.

A few small updates. Being in hvac I installed a mitsu mini split, cooling only since I already have a gas furnace for heat. I mounted some pics of my truck and a collage of it over the past years. Also got a new cabinet and moved blast cabinet to front garage so this garage stays cleaner since it houses my truck.

I also powder coated all of my receptical covers candy blue of raw steel. Still looking at glass blocks for the old windows and going to paint the bottom blocks on the outside at some point. Then the work on the front garage will begin, or bathroom or kitchen. Damn the work and expense never ends.

I'm planning on redoing the front garage to accommodate a 4 post lift so I can keep the truck on it and park my daily under it. I plan 12 foot ceilings. I would like to open detached garage to new projects.

Like the mini-split AC unit. We added one of those to our house to the second floor since there was no duct work up there. They work awesome.

Yes there awesome I coulda do a split system already having a lennox furnace I the attic. But being smallest unit is way to big I really wanted to reduce humidity. The mini has a dry setting and only uses 286 watts measured to maintain the temp. Not cheap but worth it. Oh and silent

That will be my goal when I start renovating my garage next year is to knock down the level of humidity. I have an ancient Reznor natural gas furnace for heat.

Yes it also helps the vehicle not rust away. I will soon check humidity levels with and without the ac on.

So i had the windows finally replaced with glass blocks. I did a casing and trimmed them out and painted black. I also repainted garage semi gloss instead of flat white. now its cleanable lol. The new windows let in so much light now.

Heres is what we came up with to seal up the old chicken coop in the back corner. I had it boarded over painted black and then glass block put over it now it wont have a moisture issue later on.

I painted my man door to this garage with a semi gloss exterior latex and once again it has a tackiness to it. Does anyone know how to resolve it. Last time i let it go for a week and didnt feel dry.

Do you believe you could work on a full-size truck in the 20'x30' size garage and still have room for work benches?
