220 Amp Capacity Question

Hey Gang,

I have a 220v service into my garage. Each line into the 220 has a 20 amp fuse in the box.

Question. Is the Amp rating on the 220 service then 40 amps (20 combined) or 20 amps?

You do not double it the 20 amp rating is just that, 20A. And as said above, 110/220 do not exist anymore 120/240V is the normal voltage today.

Basically.... You get 20 amps of capacity at 240 volts. If your running 120 V loads, you have two 20 amp capacity lines to supply power.
