220 for compressor using dryer plug

I am building a cord and plug for my compressor to plug into dryer plug. I have a gas dryer so it won't see any other use. My wall receptacle is a 30A crowsfoot. I bought 30ft of 10/3 and a the 30A plug. My question is which wires go where. I planned on putting red and black on the angled "crowsfeet"
and the white is ground and goes to the L shaped lug. At the psi switch the red and black go to L1 and L2 and the white is screwed into the box. Am I doing this correctly? Thanks.

Yes that will work but you really only needed 10/2 w/ground. White is for neutral, the ground should be identified as green.

There is no ground on a 3-wire dryer or range receptacle, it's a dual voltage non-grounding device that was allowed by codes prior to the 1996 NEC to ground the frames of ranges & dryers to the neutral. If by some chance the installing electrician used 10/3 w/ ground a 30A 250V* receptacle could be installed in place of the existing one & be code compliant. (Use black/red/bare & cap off the white & tuck back in the box).

*Dryer receptacles are rated as 125/250V.

also, it sounds like you bought romex. Is 10/3 romex solid or stranded wire? You should not be using romex for a cord. You should have bought 10/3 SO cord. Cant put solid wire into the terminals on a plug.

I have little knowledge of wiring but it is 10g with 3 insulated stranded wires and flexible. I bought it at my local supply house. I told them what I was doing and this is what they gave me.
I googled romex and it looks nothing like what I bought. But I had my colors wrong. It is blk/wht/grn if it matters.
