220 plug

I think I need a 220 outlet in my garage, I should have done it in the beginning but I didn't. So what is the average cost to put in a 220 outlet? I am not going to do it myself.

Panel in garage, location of plug will be a foot or two away from panel

Could be twenty bucks or 200 bucks. Where is the panel? is it accesable? Is there room in the panel? How far do you need to go?
Lots of variables. If you can't do it yourself then call a couple of electricians and get quotes.

I had a guy come out. Ran 60ft of tube to my garage from the box to garage then another 30 ft to the outlet in the back of the garage.

Total cost was $1500.

Would have been 2x that for any other guys plus permits

Talked to my neighbor he does it on the side, said he would do it for the cost of parts, which he said would be about 25.00

Curious ... so a couple of questions:
Is this an attached garage?

Is the panel in the garage?

Is the panel recessed into a wall?

Do you want to have the 240v outlet next to the panel?

Detached, yes panel in garage, yes recessed and plug close to panel is fine

Don't have a picture on hand, neighbor said it will be fine. There is a slot left for a 220 plug, there is already a 220 breaker installed

A common "220" size where 220V is still used is 16 ampere. Sorry could not resist.

But the question above is valid as the cost is going to vary widely from 15 ampere to 100 ampere $$$$, and the brand of panel could come into play if the panel was obsolete. Want try to find SQ D Trillant breakers?

Cutler-Hammer/ SQ D XO, obsolete since about 1960 & 50 ampere is the largest size.

I agree. He clearly said in his first post and a few others after. But seems like no one knows how to read before they reply, asking is the panel in the garage and how far from the panel to the plug

No problem on the questions, 30 amps is the max draw. I am making reproduction radio control car body's from lexan. I am making a heat box to warm the lexan and I am planning to use a oven element with a plug on it to make the hot box and warm the lexan. The element is 3000watts and 30 amps.

Right now the only one I have is the traxxas ford raptor. I made a plug from plaster of pairs of it. Just trying to get everything right to do it. Then I am going to buy a few new bodies and mold them. I should be able to make a body for 4.00 each. So my boys can bash all they want to, have a couple of friends I will sell to for a few dollars.

I took my current body and filled it with plaster and pulled it from there.
The main breaker in garage says 60 on it. Sorry really don't know much about it.

Ah, I thought you were carving your own bodies. Would be easy to mod one though ...

60 amp should be fine, as long as your not running a big compressor or other heavy load. How are you vacuuming the lexan down?

I'm starting with a 6.25 hp shop vac, might have to build a true vacuum system.

One of these numbers, as associated with 240VAC does not belong.

A 3000 watt heater would draw more like 12.5 Amps. Nothing wrong with making a 30Amp, 240VAC circuit, but if only the heater is planned for it, than 20Amp would do it.
