220 to 110

I have a lift that is wired for 220. I want to put an outlet on the lift and rather than run a new 110 wire from another circuit, I would like to tap into the 220 feed already there and use that for the 110. Can it be done? If so what wires do I need to tap from to get only 110 from the 220 circuit? TIA

Probably not without pulling additional wire. You have two hot legs and a ground to get 220. If this were a dryer outlet, you'd have a 4th wire--neutral leg-- as well. One hot plus one neutral (plus ground) makes 110.
