220 vs 115 window ac opinions

I have a 26x28 garage with 12' ceilings.
728 square feet but 8736 cubic feet.

It's fully insulated but has three garage doors, two front doors 9x9 and a side door I think is 8x8. All the doors are insulated as are the two windows and two transoms.

I want to install a window ac unit in a DH window. I have 220 and 115 outlets there.

I'll generally be keeping the shop at some comfortable temp, say 75 degrees and crank it a bit if working in there.

I do want to dehumidify the space big time, storing two cars and shop tools etc.

Thoughts on BTU's and 220 vs 115 appreciated, dehumidifying capability and best brand appreciated.

I'd go with a 220v.
I go thru allot of A/C's at work (apartments).
I've had good luck with Amana's, then kenmores, then Frigidaires.
Worst luck I've had was GE's. All compressors went out around 3 years.

Yep agreed. A 18,500 btu 240 Volt unit would be more suitable than a smaller 120 Volt unit. Can always turn it down, hard to make a smaller unit be better than it is designed to be. At $500 bucks just for a window unit, may want to look in to a mini split unit also. jmo.

The largest window shaker I could find on 120v are two I just bought - frigidaire 15,100 but units. 11.8 eer.

240v units can get much bigger.

I would also agree with greg2jeeps that I would slightly oversize and compare mini split options also.

I have a 200v 18k BTU window unit cooling 700 Sq ft in Arizona with no problems.
Works great
