i picked up a 220v motor and squirrel cage and I'm looking to hook it up, but the motor has two wires coming out of it, and no ground wire or screw (that I can identify being for that purpose). I'm assuming that because it was part of a larger HVAC setup, it obtained it's ground through being bolted to another part of the unit.

Is it kosher to just make a green ground wire and attach it to the sheet metal mounting bracket of the motor?

Normally there would be a green screw inside the junction box of motor, a ground bolted to the motor somewhere would be fine
