I have 220 outlet about 10ft from the place where lift control panel will be.
Control panel have about 2ft of wire that can be hooked.

What is the best way to make connection?

I'm thinking about buying appropriate cord and plug and replace this short piece in a lift. But that is little bit too long

Is it feasable to extend/move the location of the outlet? That would be my first choice.

It's all drywalled. I made mistake during layout phase thinking that panel will be in different place.. I will ask my electrician, but even if wire can be dropped from the ceiling down it will be hard to bring wire up from then panel (I have 100A panel in garage)

What about running a surface mount outlet and put the wire through some conduit... it might look a little fugly but its an option perhaps. It gets the job done at least!

Fugly. Exactly. I thought about that. I can just bring cord down to the floor and run it together with air/hydro lines in one conduit.

I'm not sure what Bend-Pak expects you to do with that 2' long piece of non-terminated cable, but I completely replaced it with a dryer cord on my lift.

Yea, I would replace the 2' wire also. Pull the outlet wire back up into the ceiling. Patch up the hole in the ceiling. Put a junction box in the attic (do you have an attic above the garage?) and run the initial wire to the junction box. Connect another length of wire and drop an outlet wherever you want.

That's what I would do.

I specifically left a good 5-6 feet of extra wire in my attic in case I had to move my control panel outlet somewhere as well.

bmwpower,

How can I post pictures? You misunderstood me. I don't have wire coming from a top.

I was _thinking_ to drop new additional wire to electric panel and drop other end in needed location. That will require removing drywall and so on. I think I should go for it while I still have all paints fresh and can repair and close..

Yes, I have attic. It's attached garage in a ranch-style house.
All wiring was done before finishing/insulating.

When you said you have a 220v outlet 10 feet from the panel, I thought you actually had an outlet already installed, waiting for the lift.

The best, cleanest way is to put everything in the wall/ceiling, but it will require opening up the walls and ceiling, etc.

Yes. That's what I have. I see no problem leaving that outlet there.
Since I have whole panel right there (1 feet from that outlet) - it makes more sence to throw in new circuit.

The more I think - more I lean toward opening wall. I did that already above garage door to get outlet for iDrive opener installed. Will have to mud/tape anyway. Mine as well do both of them...

I think next time I will do better job at planning :)

I'm not even talking about major mistake I made with that lift...

well.. I realiized that after found this forum.

Here is long story. I have 21x20 garage with 9ft ceiling.

After I decided to get lift I realized there was not enough ceiling space. I didn't want to get mid-rise as I will eventually move and lift is long-term investment.

What I did is.. I cut 3 joists and raised 8x10 part of the ceiling in a left bay. When I will lift sedan car - this is where cabin will go giving me at least 6ft clearence from a floor.

This is all good - but I will park over lift every time and I will work in a tight space (left side from a lift). This is OK because I've seen worst :)

... I already did my epoxy floor.

Here is what I WOULD do if I read this forum before.

I would raise 8x10 portion in a center of garage.
I would dig concrete and mount bendpak flush with the floor.

This way we can park our cars on concrete and I can work on my car in a middle of garage.

Live and learn..

Finished. It's all covered and you can't tell that I removed drywall. Primed and painted. Glad I just did it...
