Noticed these sets in Lowe’s this morning. There weren’t any open on display so I couldn’t tell if the box was any good.

That box (the design) has been around a long time. Think I got one about 30 years ago.
Handy as the top latches the drawers in so one could carry it around.

The box will be easier to-carry if you place decent handles on either end. I've used one of those for small tools, it's probably 30+ years old. Still holding up OK. I rarely have need to move it.

I had my 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 socket sets in one of those boxes until I split them up. The handle on the top was handy to lift it up to set in on the mover's dolly to roll it around or the two-wheel dolly to move it further...
I beat one of them up from the early 80's until the late 90's. Very hard use in my truck doing all kinds of construction work. It layed around a few years and I cleaned it thoroughly and lubed it up and now she uses it in her basement shop.

Ya I got a smaller Craftsman box ~20 years ago from my wife as a gift. She baked some cookies and put them inside of it.
as i recall, when that box was still available it was the better part of 100 dollars. at that price you aren't paying much for either.
if there is some sort of tray of foam inserts to keep the item from roaming around loosely in that box and has an empty drawer or top compartment for additions the deal is better.

I was looking for a box like that recently. I think the one in the ad was around $60, and was most definitely not the quality of those 30 years ago.
Picked up two as starter sets for my nephew’s two young boys. When my nephew and his brother were 6 and 8 I bought them a 1/4 ratchet/socket set each for Christmas and then expanded the tools every year. It was a lot of fun so I’m hoping I can do it again for these two toddlers. IIRC I think my brother said that one of his boys (the younger one) immediately disassembled his bicycle completely. He is an EOD team leader in the army now so I’m sure his mechanical aptitude is an asset.

The newer craftman boxes of that style are junk. At work every one has a 90 percent box on their taylor dunn carts, and the three drawer box is what most have.
The craftsmans will last a year or so before the crappy under size drawer slides are junk.
couple of guys have old ones with friction slides that are still good. The black 4 drawer kobalt ones from 4 or 5 years ago were pretty good as well but they appear to be gone.

Not a bad little "House warming" set for the kids. Vast majority of folks will never need anything better then a Craftsman set. I still have my original CM set from the mid 80's. Now has its place in the basement shop. As I upgraded the garage set to Wright and US Williams, the CM stuff moved inside.
