I started to fix up the garage.

When the house was built it did not have sheet rock or insulation. But it does now.

I started new years eve weekend.

I have the first coat of mud on the walls and will be putting the second coat today.

Planning on paint this weekend.

2/2/13 update
I caught a dang cold so couldn't work on the garage for a week.

But a lot has been done.

Walls are up and sanded. Top half painted Polar white, the bottom will be a grey. I am looking at options to seperate the two colors. I was thinking diamond plate. But I think I would be to much in the room. The diamond plate would become the main focus.

I built a work bench that still needs to be primed and painted. I built a cover that goes over the filter and water softener. I built a simple compressor stand that will allow me to put jack stands and floor jack under it. I will hang an air line and extention cord off of it also.

I plan on putting a drop ceiling in. 2ftx4ft fire rated tiles.

Refreshing to see a new unique colour. Always like the garage to match the car as well. Keep up the great work.

Good looking bench you have there, and quite a transformation you are doing; keep us posted please.

Where in Washington? The reason I ask is how were you able to apply the mud to the sheet rock in January? Did you have to heat the garage while you were doing the mud? How long did it take to dry before re-coating/sanding? I've been putting off that nasty job in my shop being convinced the temperature has to be much warmer to cure, also, I have not wanted to use my wall-mounted electric heaters for days on end to get it to dry. The humidity/temperature here on Washington's coast makes me think I'll have to wait till June-July to do the drywall mudding! lol

Love your workbench. What a great design. Especially the integrated sockets. The green is a cool color. Now we need to see pics of the Nova and the specs.

Cabinets are hung on the wall.

I started hanging the suspended ceiling 3/31/13.

Yes I did say suspened ceiling.

I have 2x4 tiles that are fire rated. Which pretty much means they are 1/2" sheetrock with a finished side. I also have 1x4, and 2x4 light fixtures that go in suspended ceilings.

So I was starting to put things away and found that I did not have a place to put loose nuts and bolts etc. So I did some research and found green akromils storage bins with a hanger. Which turned out to be a perfect fit.

I do wish I would have gotten the holder smaller and more verticle.

As for under the cover here is a picture of my car. I took it to get the wheels aligned so I can get it started.

Looks great! I can imagine the work you did. I recently painted my garage. That green theme is nice. Would love to see a pic of the whole garage as it is now.

NOOOOO not suspended ceiling! Why?????

Well three reasons.

1. I use the rafters for storage.

2. I do not have to paint it

3. The lights and the panels were free. All I had to do is buy the grid.

The ceiling tiles are made of 1/2" sheetrock. They are heavy.

The workbench has one shelf along the back. I added an outlet for the cordless drill chargers. I will get a picture tonight

ceiling is all in but three tiles.

There are three 2x4 in the front half of the garage and three 1x4 at the back.
that way if the garage door it up I still get the most lighting.

I finally got the stripe and started putting it on. Once that is done I can clean and organize.

The beginning of the stripe

Nice work, another bonus of that type of ceiling is that it makes it easy to hide anything up there, i'm for that haha.

Great transformation in process.

I see where your walls have insulation, and I see where you've added the suspended ceiling . . . . BUT I don't see how (if any) insulation was put in ceiling. How is this going to be done??

If money no object, it would very handy to have sprayed foam on the underside of roof, and the suspended ceiling was there to block view of that foam and keep heat down where you need it.

Could you post up pics of ceiling insulation and what is heating solution??

I did not put insulation in the ceiling.

I will wait until next winter to see how cold it gets.

If it gets to cold I will add it to the roof or lay it on the ceiling tiles.

I still have to insulate the garage door also.

The storage under the bench is awesome.

frees up four drawers in my tool box, and since I have two different chargers keeps them out of site, and always charged. I have all the tools I do not use a lot, and the ones in cases. Like steering wheel and gear pullers etc...
