This site is the greatest! I have received such a constant ribbing from folks about my garage because it is my palace! I will post pics sometime. Meanwhile... It's 22x25, 8 foot ceiling so it's not too big. It has a 16 foot single overhead door and the room above it, which will be an automotive themed great room someday is held up by a steel beam so there is a complete clear space in the garage. It has insulation, plaster, paint, trim on the windows and doors, mini blinds, heat, (AC coming this spring) computer, cable, phone, tunes, fridge and lots of garage art. 2 years ago, I remodeled my kitchen and I managed to re-use all the cabinets in a very functional layout and now I have plenty of storage and bench space. Even with the small size, it holds an 80 gallon 2 stage compressor, tool box, 225 amp arc welder, mig, the quintessential set of hot wrenches, blast cabinet, parts washer and a converted household oven for powder coating. In one corner I have a office cubicle type desk for the computer, swivel stools for guests and an antique Coke machine. In the ceiling, I have recessed a 6 inch I beam with a trolley and hoist for pulling engines. All of this sits on a StonHard epoxy floor and in the middle of the whole shebang is my 1940 Ford Pickup truck (10 year project so far). There is a small hallway that leads to the house and a quick right takes you to the cellar stairs where I have a 2nd shop space. There I have a table saw, 2 band saws, a couple grinders, a lathe, drill press, planer and a milling machine. Over the years I have been able to create, fabricate or fix or jury rig just about anything... it's such a hoot, nearly an addiction I guess. It's great to find a site like this with guys who have been bitten by the same bug as me!
